Latinos turn up the heat on Obama: Remember, you owe us more!

On Nov. 18, I noted that Hispanic lawyers were pressuring Obama to make ethnic-based appointments to reward them for their support.
On Dec. 4, I noted that Hispanic groups were whining that the Richardson nomination and the elevation of La Raza official Cecilia Munoz to a White House position were not enough to satisfy their sense of entitlement.
Yesterday, I noted that those groups were grumbling again in the wake of the Richardson withdrawal.
Today, the San Antonio News-Express reports further on the Latino lamentations against Obama:
After the withdrawal of Bill Richardson’s name as an Obama administration Cabinet nominee, Hispanic leaders say they expect the president-elect to name another Latino to head the Commerce Department.
An Obama transition team source said a veteran California congressman, Xavier Becerra, has emerged as the leading congressional candidate to replace Richardson, the Hispanic governor of New Mexico, as President-elect Barack Obama’s choice for a job that will include overseeing the 2010 U.S. Census…
…San Antonio Congressman Charlie Gonzalez said the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, which is meeting in Washington this week, “will be coalescing with other groups on a specific person to recommend” as Richardson’s replacement. He declined to name any candidate.
He said Hispanic groups would strongly push to have a qualified Hispanic named as Richardson’s replacement because of the need to have minorities, especially Hispanics, properly accounted for in the Census.
…“We are going from three Latinos to two on the Obama Cabinet,” said Juan Sepulveda, a San Antonioan who served as the Obama campaign’s Texas coordinator. “While we still have Sen. (Ken) Salazar and Rep. (Hilda) Solis at Interior and Labor, respectively, Richardson would have been the highest-ranking Hispanic in the cabinet.”
It would have been the first time that three Hispanics would serve as Cabinet secretaries at the same time, he said.
Three Latinos — current Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez and former Housing and Urban Development head Mel Martinez — served in the Cabinet of President George W. Bush, though not at the same time.

I demand representation of Eastern-European descent! Where are the administration appointees with names ending in -ski or -vich?!!! Convene the Congressional Slavic Caucus to make recommendations!!!
Methinks Obama’s mouth has written checks his administration won’t be able to cash…
These Hispanic groups need to understand that Obama isn’t wanting to fill his administration with people of any certain race, he’s looking for people who are as unqualified and inexperienced as he is.
He hasn’t appointed any Red Necks to his administration. I demand that he appoint a man with a John Deere baseball cap, a beer gut, and nicknamed “Bubba.” And a woman with a baby balanced on her hip and a cigarette hanging from her mouth.
I can’t stand identity politics.
What ever happened to the dream of judging people by
the content of their character?
Has Obama killed that dream?
He’s certainly not the fulfillment of it!
Blagojevich for Secretary of Commerce!

Blagojevich for Secretary of Commerce!
/yikes
My chihuahua has Latino heritage, and no scandals.
But, she has too much integrity and experience to be a part of the Obama administration.
Sounds good to me, or maybe even someone who has actually run a successful business. Just saying.
On January 6th, 2009 at 11:53 am, tre said:
“Bubba” already served 8 years as President,
but his wife has been nominated for Secretary of State.
The one with a cigarette hanging from his mouth is “that one”
doin’ the nominatin’.
…and he’s lost as a bitty in high weeds.
Exactly.
I know that I’m only banging my head against the wall with this question, but:
Why is there even a “Congressional ‘Hispanic’ Caucus” in the first place? For all the rhetoric by these “Hispanic leaders” about being “American” (that would be led by YOU, Ms. Solis), who are the ones REALLY causing divide in this country? Seriously. You never hear of them speaking about anyone else in America, just “their” groups.
God, this arrogant sense of entitlement, that somehow “their” is unbelievable.
Aztlan leadership members from MECHA, and Latinos for Sovereign Tresspass (LOST), have whole-heartedly endorsed their “Hero of the Revolucion”, Hector ‘Chuey’ Hernandez de Medina Fuentes, as the next Secretary of Commerce.
His experience is second to none. He claims a lifetime of experience negotiating the Southern U.S. border without disruption or intervention. His devotion, and success in supplying the United States with the ‘agricultural produce’ demanded by inner-city customers is unmatched by anyone.
His charismatic personality has allowed him to get close to his competitors in ‘produce transportation’ to work out positive negotiations, so good that many just lose their heads over the details. This is a serious, no nonsense facilitator who would fit in nicely with the Obama Administration’s Chicago style of politics.
Viva La Raza! Viva La Revolucion!
(Sarc/off)
Oops (!) on my last post. The last sentence was supposed to read:
God, this arrogant sense of entitlement is unbelievable.
Fox is all hot and bothered that Obama hasn’t appointed enough southern white men. Why should Hispanics not lobby for more Hispanics. After all, they at least voted for Obama.
about 60 million Americans (all here legally of course) are of German descent, more than twice as many as there are Hispanic Americans! So La Raza and Cobgressional Hispanic Caucus it is time that the Germans flex their muscles and have their own commerce secretary!
Chuey for Commerce…….LOL
Ramos and Campeon are both ethnically hispanic. Pull them out of prison and give them cushy jobs. Actually, make them Johnny Sutton’s bosses. That would be sweet.
Hey, Obama, just tell Biden to pick up a day laborer the next time he goes to Home Depot!
I fear, that in the end, hyper-politicized identity politics will destroy the country. The culture that unconditionally emphasizes differences eg. “diversity”, is slowing eroding the notion that America (the US), is about commonalities and unity – not differences.
History points to few examples where vastly diverse cultures have existed within common territorial bounds peacefully, and for a relatively long time. More typical, is constant division, discontent and warfare.
Now, on to the serious stuff…
Where is my Scandinavian-American Caucus???
You’re spot on. People used to come to this country actually wanting to become Americans. The left now encourages them not to and celebrates them when they don’t assimilate.
As I recall, there was already a push to further ignore all immigration law enforcement for this census. Assuming that there is no time to implement universal amnesty in the next couple of weeks, this sounds like something they could implement as this census is just around the corner.
Does anyone know if we are counting drug runners in this census?
I just realized that O’Bama ain’t Irish! I was expecting to see more hard-drinkin’, fightin’ Micks in his cabinet.
The latinos backed the wrong horse for an administration of hispanics. I believe McCain was your man if that was your agenda.
Who isn’t?
Why, yes, they will be counted if they live in the US and whose occupation will be described in the census as “independent pharmacutical transport and delivery specialists”
Ha anyone else notice the “body language” difference when looking at Obumer these days? Prior to the election he looked confident, hipster-like, and in control.
Yesterday I saw a news clip of him standing behind a podium – as I’ve seen him a hundred times before – but he looked like a frightened little 10-year old boy.
My only problem with this article is saying “Latino turn up the heat”. It sounds as though they represent ALL Latinos. They do not.
Mmmm. I do not know, but we DO want someone with experience running a business to run Commerce (if we need Department of Commerce)and we see that person should owe his butt to La Raza, MECHA and such. You just might be on to something Freddy.

Yes, identity politics probably will destroy this country. Those of us who are of Mexican origin but consider ourselves American most likely will not do well. Whites who do not know us will have no choice but to fear us. Those “latinos” who are Mexico First hate us most of all.
The same is true of the Blacks.
While the Black and Latino activist are certainly to blame for the coming maelstrom it is the White Guilt Cult/Leftist I hate the more. They are the ones who will not stop stoking the fire.
Thus I do firmly and repeatedly state:
That every man be armed–you too ladies.
The difficulty of not supposed to be liking Obama due to the hysterics of the Left continues. However, I’m sure Obama won’t disappoint. His CIA director nominee ensures that.
If you’re standing on a corner with your other amigos, you get counted. The census takers just count people. That includes illegal immigrants.
This is why illegal immigration is a violation of State’s rights. Let’s say State A allows 2 million illegal immigrants from one census to the next, but States B and C don’t. However, 1 million citizens move from State A, half to State B and the other half to State C. The next census will show that State A has an increase in population of 1 million while States B and C only show an increase of 500,000. States B and C now must give up a representative (or more!) to State A.
So while States B and C have an increase in citizens, they lose representation. The state then loses those votes in Congress. Had the illegals never been allowed in, State A would have to give up representatives to States B and C. Which is why the constitution was written that way.
Unfortunately, no one wants to take this to SCOTUS, for fear of being labeled a racist.
She can’t be any #$%&ing worse than the rest of them.
I cannot believe that FORTY YEARS after Dr. King’s death we are still discussing what are essentially racial, gender, regional, and ethnic quotas.
In my view 95% of the time the person playing that card simply is not in a position to merit what they want.
If I were a decision maker and someone played that card with me, they would instantly be shown the door.
Speaking for the Latino Right, I say to the Latino left – ¡Chupame!
You are owed NADA!
Now, we return to your regularly scheduled postings in ENGLISH.
As an official member of People Of Polish-Welsh Descent With A Bit Of Irish (POPWDWABOI) I demand a Secretary of Commerce that can properly look out for our interests and understands the struggle of my people. It’s time for all POPWDWABOI stand up and have our voices heard.
Compliments to jsr, madmonkphoto, and Flyoverman (#s 37,36,35) – I really appreciated your posts Very good, very good indeed.
(Darn it! Sorry about the typos in the above post – oops).
Thank you PhredE. Just one opinion. i enjoy reading what others think very much.
My collie says:
I know what you’re all thinking, but recall that the President’s wife is usually NOT a part of the President’s cabinet — except during Bill Clinton’s administration.
And I’m sure that when “The One” gives them all amnesty AND lets them bring in their families, they will cry…
…”what no house”
Igor Panarin, a Russian professor has been predicting the fall of the U.S. by 2010 for a decade.
The above most recent example of identity politics is part of what he expects will trigger a civil war.

The most uncomfortable thing for me is his inability to look people in the eyes for more than a nanosecond when speaking with or to them.
Although I am no expert on the BL science, through years of interrogative experience, I have found that those who divert their eyes are either hiding something, or are lying. A very troublesome habit to overcome I would think, if that is all it is.
Props to you, PhredE.
I do my part when I can to point out the idiocy of fellow Latinos.
EOO – Equal Opportunity Offender.

Ce pan mowie po polsku?
Because unlike Liberals, conservatives believe that society is best served when positions of power are filled by the people who would do the best job, not because they happen to have been born a specific ethnic type. Choosing a person based on their race is called racism, and it is highly counterproductive.
I’m a Jewish cowboy, so I’d like my uncle, Bucky Goldstein, to be Commerce Secretary.
Tak, trochę
I had to look that up, but my grandparents came from the old country about 100 years ago. They always spoke Polish, especially when they didn’t want their grandkids to know what they were talking about. Nonetheless, as a POPWDWABOI I’m not giving up the struggle for our rights.
I can assume that interrogative experience means in one or another lifetime, those you “questioned” were likely not making eye contact due to shyness.
jsr
Same here. My father didn’t want us to be stigmatized by speaking Polish, so I had to learn some on my own. It seems members of the old Democrat Party had problems with “legal” European immigrants, like my grandparents. They were vilified at every turn…but they did learn to speak some English. My grandfather spoke 7 languages fluently, with no formal education.
scituate_tgr
The term is used in relationship to an interrogation;
1 : to question formally and systematically
interrogative pro-adverb
* where (location)
* whence (source)
* whither (goal)
* when (time)
* how (manner)
* why, wherefore (reason)
* whether (choice between alternatives)
I could have used the term “questioning” I suppose, but that would diminish the intent of that phrase.

Is there anyone Hispanic from the Clinton administration to fill the slot?
I need some help here, getting this straight…. I believe the goal is to pick the right person for the job, as long as their name is hispanic sounding, without them or their heritage actually being from Spain, since people from Spain aren’t hispanic. Ditto Portugal. Or the Phillipines. Or the Azores. Or Vancouver.
That gets a bit confusing, which is why I need the help…
Is Carolyn Kennedy a latino? How about Blagojovic? No? How about George Soros – is that latin or latino or whatever it’s supposed to be? How about Streisand – is that a latino name?
It’s getting hard to keep things straight. Colin Powell? Is he latino? I think he might speak some Spanish, if that helps.
Bill Clinton has probably bedded down a latino or two – is that good enough?
What about Speed Racer? I think his last name in Spanish is Raza’er, or something like that. Could we have Speed Racer in Obama’s cabinet?
That would be cool…
My first two choices:
Frito Bandito
Jose Jimenez
Yes that would be rude–so is race based bull. How many Kenyans will the man select, how about his half-brother; he could use a job.
Yes it is–it means “wipe your feet” or something like that.
I demand a person of scottish decent be appointed!!! I also demand a short person be appointed!!!! ok that’s one more than I’m allowed…my mistake…
Would it be any consolation if he picked the Taco Bell dog as the White House pet?
I see a distinct and glaring lack of representation by The Fraternal Order of Bob’s.
Also there are no plumbers. There otta be a plumber.
Shouldn’t he be in charge or the Border Patrol, or is he all ready?
I just can’t figure out which border.
Maybe Obama and the Gov’t should copy Mexico. How many non Indian or hispanic folks are in the Mexican government or the president’s cabinent? How many are in the Mexican Senate?. How many are in their state legislatures? Is the US the only nation that has skin diversity? I know at least the USA doesn’t have opinion diversity anymore. Can anyone of you open border folks answer these questions?
As a member of the White Anglo/Saxon Protestant Caucus, German/Jewish/Irish/Scottish subcommittee, I’m demanding that one of our members be seated as a member of Barry’s new cabinet….like Secretary of Alcohol Consumption, or maybe Head of the Bagel Directorate at the Commerce Department…
Actually, I think the SCOTUS would rule it unconstitutional on the grounds of international law and their interpretation of the current “living and breathing” constitution of ours.
As for rights, an American can not purchase land in either the Philippines or Mexico, can not get a job in Mexico, cannot run for office in either country and can only get a job in the Philippines after a lot of legal red tape and while it may be possible to start a business there, would you really want to in a country where you enjoyed so many rights?
If I ever hung an American flag outside my door in either country I would have been vehemently (and rightfully) attacked and if I were really lucky, whatever was left of my remains would be sent back to the USA.
What I do not understand, is that if it is so important that they (More specifically Mexico) can get more than a billion (unaccountable) tax dollars from us to protect their sovereignty and it is such a good thing for other countries; why does it become inherently evil when we practice and protect our own sovereignty in the USA?
Can you say hypocrisy boys and girls? I thought you could.
A lot of groups are going to be upset when they find that “their man” isn’t “their man” after all. All ready the grumbling has started. Reminds me of the saying, “You can fool all the people some of the time, some of the people all the time, but you can’t fool all the people, all of the time.”
Oh geeeez. Who couldn’t see this coming? Why can’t Obama just call the hispanic caucus what they are? Racists!!! Of course no white male could get away with it, but since Obama is a member of the protected class (aka non white male), he should be able to call a spade a spade. Diversity for the sake of diversity is a sure path to destruction. Whatever happened to merit and ability as qualifiers for a position?
