Gotta love the histrionics. Blago’s press conference was a “big &$*%^^ you” to Rahm Emanuel (who got name-checked while Blago touted his health care heroism) and the Illinois legislature.

Meantime, this development in the Burris story, via Chicago S-T:
A potentially troublesome new detail emerged about Roland Burris’ controversial U.S. Senate appointment Thursday after a state House panel voted unanimously to recommend Gov. Blagojevich be impeached.
For the first time, Burris indicated that he asked Blagojevich’s former chief of staff and college classmate, Lon Monk, to relay his interest in the Senate seat to the governor last July or September.
“If you’re close to the governor, you know, let him know I’m certainly interested in the seat,” Burris said he told Monk.
That testimony appears to differ from an affidavit Burris submitted to the impeachment panel this week in which he stated he spoke to no “representatives” of the governor about the Senate post prior to Dec. 26.
Federal prosecutors, who identified Monk as “Lobbyist 1″ in their criminal complaint against Blagojevich, indicated they tapped Monk’s phone in November as Blagojevich moved to fill President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat.
Whether the new Monk detail poses any threat to Burris’ efforts to persuade Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to allow him to be seated isn’t clear, but Republicans on the state impeachment panel see a contradiction.
“There is an inconsistency between his testimony and the affidavit,” said state Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs). “I’ll leave it to Sen. Reid to determine what value that has to their process.”

Forgive my anal-ness, but, doesn’t ‘unanimously’ mean ‘without opposition’? Wasn’t there one vote against impeachment, thereby making it NOT unanimous?
Anally, a panel isn’t the same as the entire State House.
I watched this thing with much embarrassment since I am a resident of Illinois. I thought he was having a breakdown and would pull a Glock any minute. It would have been funny if the press corps would have just not shown up.

Its hard to comprehend how the next few years will play out with THE ONE. Without his partners in crime, THE MEDIA, his buddy Blago would not be in this situation because THE ONE would not be anywhere near the Presidency.

It seems (increasingly of late) that no one in Congress possesses the slightest degree of economic knowledge/history, or even how the United States government works.
Granted, we’re seeing some extraordinary situations, but COME ON! Doesn’t anyone up there know how things are supposed to work anymore?

Has Chicago become the new Jerusalem? Come Palm Sunday I would not be too terribly surprised to see one or both of those asses ride a colt, a foal of a donkey, into Chicago with Aldermen, Keith Oberman, Kath Couric and Chris Matthews placing palm fronds before HIM or them.
Durbin is doing this because he just got re-elected. Six years may as well be six hundred years in today;s news cycle. I bet if his term was up in 2010, he would not be doing this.
I bet Blago will wait for the last minute to resign as his office allows him three tools.
1. The ability to propose wacky legislation, such as the free rides for seniors he forced down the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority or Catastrphes Twice Annually)
2. It is his best card for a lighter jail term or probation. George Ryan commuted all the Death Row prisoners to life, hoping to affect the possible jury pool.
3. It allows him to take as many down with him as possible. He knows where the bodies are buried and he may name names.
Nothing new. Dems love to use children to get their way. Long history of that. Some do it in more dangerous ways than others but all Dems have it in their playbook.
Martin Luther King, Jr. put children in harms way during his protests/campaigns. I know, nobody is allowed to say anything negative about MLK,Jr but there it is. It’s a fact. Just like you can’t mention his adultery or anything else. Obama supporters used children in all sort of scary ways in their ads.
Durbin couldn’t block the surge, so he found something smaller to block befitting his stature…he’s waiting to be called “hero” for his uncommon bravery in political combat.
I hope Blagovich keeps sticking the Dems in the eye…he will be forever known as, “Blag the Impaler” (my apologies to Vlad the Impaler, aka Dracula.)

Gov. Blagojevich is the quintessential democrap. Oath and ethics be damned, it is all about the acquisition and retention of POWER.
I cannot wait for the Charlie Rangel ethics hearings to start up, but there is no chairperson for the House “Ethics” Committee (if we could use that phrase during the dark Pelosi years). I am beginning to believe that the corrupt Mr. Rangel, permanent Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, will get away with his crimes.
