I can’t say I’ll miss Crybaby George Voinovich

Boo hoo.
Ohio GOP Sen. George Voinovich is scheduled to announce tomorrow afternoon his decision to retire from the Senate.
When I think of George Voinovich, I think of his inane blubbering about the shamnesty debacle. Blubber, blubber.
I think of his crusading for the massive auto bailout.
And I think of his mortifying meltdown in opposition to John Bolton’s UN ambassador nomination in 2005, which prompted embarrassed conservatives to start a “Console George” campaign to send him tissues.
Remember?
DLTDHYOTWO, Crybaby George. You represent some of the worst aspects of the Republican Party. Won’t be missed:
Sources close to Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, tell CNN he will announce Monday he is retiring from the Senate.
The 72-year-old senator and former Ohio governor has been contemplating retirement for a while but made his final decision this weekend in Florida, where he was joined by his wife, children and grandchildren, according to one of the sources.
Voinovich plans to serve out his term, which expires in 2010.
He plans to make the announcement at 4 p.m. ET Monday in Washington, the source said.

Oh good, he’s going to serve out his term. A Lame Duck until 2010.
I can think of a few more RINOs that should follow him out the door.
One RINO down, so many more to go; The RNC needs to start lining up true fiscal conservatives right now for 2010 all across the country; PEBO, Pelosi, and Reid are intent on taking us along on the fiscal highway to hell, and true fiscal conservatives who can properly articulate their position to the American people are all there is left to stop this accident waiting to happen; And it needs doing before there are more people in the wagon than pulling it.
Call me crazy, but I’d rather have a RINO than a Democrat.
Blackwell for Senate 2010.
The Democrat is more honest.
Whatever. Sniveling whiner. Just get the hell out RINO.
Again, I’d like to apologize for my state. Maybe we can get Kasich or Blackwell in there
He’s a wimp and not too smart. I have written him in the past to tell him I would never vote for him again. Maybe we can get a real Republican elected in his place.
Trouble is – does the inside the beltway RNC have a clue about what conservatism is about?
Many of them seem to think it’s about brand, image, and show as opposed to principles and worldview.
ROFLMAO! I’d never seen that. DLTDHYITAOTWO indeed, Voinovich.
In a way, he seems to be a symbol of the entire Republican Party right now: effete, limp-wristed, and utterly worthless.
Like the choice between being punched in the gut or stabbed in the back.
I’d go further. The GOP needs to throw out all its old notions and develop a whole new charter for the party. It should advance solutions not ideology, although the solutions should be grounded in proven, conservative principles.
Good bye, good luck, good riddance, George. Maybe he can convince about 99 more to go with him.
Senator Voinovich may be announcing his 2010 retirement today, but he retired from representing Ohio republicans long ago. With zero possibility of a committee chairmanship or position in the new presidential administration, he must have finally realized there is no reason for him to stay in Washington any longer. Ohio republicans won’t miss him, except as a barricade to the idiot voters who will undoubtedly try to move their favorite buffoon from the house to the senate. Right now Dennis Kucinich is just one of 435, but in the Senate, as one of 100, he can cause more damage.
My friend from Ohio has longed complained about how ineffective, inadequate, uninformed, and corrupt Voinovich is. She’s involved in GOP Ohio politics and cannot figure out how this dufus ever got the GOP nomination except by buying it.
Adios amigo, won’t miss you a bit. too bad he doesn’t just resign now along with Martinez, before they can stab us in the back one more time on the next amnesty fight.
Good Riddance!!!
I think of his opposition to Operation ALLIED FORCE in Yugoslavia — time has wall-papered his words into a sentence that will be repeated in his obituary, but I recall being quite disgusted with a member of the Legislative Branch weighing in so strongly on foreign policy, and being so wrong.
Couldn’t have come too soon. I’d like to apologize on behalf of the Buckeye State.
I do have to say, though, that this at least gives the Ohio GOP enough time to vet a decent field of candidates.
And I must also remark that as a child, I saw then-Gov. Voinovich land in a helicopter at a state park my family was staying at. It seemed cool at the time. I was also a kid.
