Why do we care? Seriously.
Yesterday, I got my official invitation to the inauguration. It was on thich gague board and embossed and everything! I was soooo excited. I was on the phone renting my tux right then and there.
Then I saw it was to any and all public events.

1/20/09 The beginning of an error
With GWB, it was about celebrating HIM, which is garish at a time of war.
With Obama’s inauguration, it is about celebrating us the little people that made change come to DC, which is patriotic at a time of war.

Considering I didn’t vote for Jugears, I definitely won’t be watching him along with his “entitled” and permanently-angry wife and mother in law take any oath of office. The entire event is a monument to the stupidity of the American electorate.

I almost gagged when I saw a friend of mine on Faceback had signed up for the group “Watch the Inauguration Live on CNN.com with me”… I want to start a group “There’s nothing to do on 1/20/09, I think I’ll clean my toilets”.
I’ve been praying for a blizzard to hit the D.C. area on 19 Jan. 2009, but looking at the 10 day forcast it doesn’t seem likely.

Good news, and I learned this watching the Joe Bastardi Big Dog, and it is the difference between two rules of thumb, Binghampton and add 13ºF, and Albany and add 7ºF, for NYC temperature, when flow is coming from one of those cities.
Current 12Z GFS says only 2 or 3ºF Friday morning. OK, coldest in a decade, but it doesn’t break the psychological barrier, the technical support level of 0º F.
JB showed UK Met and Euro from their 0Z runs, and GFS, and handling on the clipper low. GFS takes clipper far enough North, that winds come from Binghampton, UK Met and Euro are farther South, winds are coming from Albany.
OK, current GFS is about 3ºF in NYC.

The GFS ALB 2 meter number is -26ºC. Adding 7ºF would put NYC between -6 and -7ºF early Friday morning, which would be the coldest since 1943, and I might have to go into work late to see Ann Curry and Willard Scott or Al Roker talking to tourists from Iowa in -6ºF weather.
