RetFireman, Very nice but you missed one thing: The last time Martial Law was enacted in the USA, Lincoln signed the order. It has not yet been repealed - notice the gold fringe on every US flag at a government office. That is what it signifies. Grant left the order alone to remind the South that it lost. The issue was diluted over time..

As for Gitmo detainees, Lead, especially 55 grains or 230 grains (dependent on caliber used) and a small bit of powder is a lot cheaper than detention. I will be happy to fund the ammunition. Something tells me there is no shortage of American Men in uniform willing to perform the mechanical work necessary to apply the lead in it's proper place (pulling the trigger). However, if need be, I am willing to do that too..

About 255 men are still held at the U.S.-run naval base in Cuba

Instead of letting them go, force them to attend the inauguration of 'that one'----that'll learn 'em.

Well, I suppose if Obama releases them into the US, or puts them in US jails from which they can and will escape, we'll have a speed-up in the return to terrorist attacks within our own borders, and it will be hard for the Dems to blame Bush for that, won't it? Nah, they'll find a deranged way. Remember how Bush said you don't want to treat terrorism like a crime, but as an act of war? Well, guess what? We've been out-voted, and now the country is going to pay the price.
