Orrin Hatch hearts Geithner
First, GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch gives Obama Attorney General nominee Eric Holder a big, wet sloppy kiss and hug. Now, despite Obama Treasury Secretary nominee Timothy Geithner’s serial inability to pay his self-employment and FICA taxes on time, Hatch has embraced the tax-dodger and bailout architect.
Quoted in the WSJ this evening:
“I still support him,” said Sen. Orrin Hatch (R., Utah) as he emerged from the meeting. “He’s a very competent guy.”
Feckless Republicans. Won’t fight Hillary. Won’t fight Dingy Harry. Won’t fight stimulus-palooza. I feel a migraine headache coming on:

Well, in all fairness, the competency bar is set pretty low in D.C.
It’s probably a tumor. You should get an MRI of your cranium. I would see to it tomorrow If I were you.
So, we conservatives keep beating our head and heart against the wall because we are constantly getting our @sses kicked at, what seems, every turn. If the Dems are not doing the kicking, out own people are.
We keep &itching about it here and at other places but the choir is the same. We need some leadership.
Please, will someone stand-up to the Dems?
Has anyone heard a peep from Newt in the last 30 days?
…..me neither.
The reason the democrats won is because the people would rather have a real democrat rather than a republican trying to act like a democrat.
I guess Orrin Hatch has decided which team he plays for. I bet in the next election he gets traded for the real thing.
Don’t count on it, Folks here just automatically vote for ole Orrin.
I am sick of writing his office.
Lived in Utah for over 50 years…left S.L.City in ‘96…I cannot believe what I see coming out of that place now. Apparently the folks are drunk on RINO juice now…blending in with the rest of United Socialist States of America. I honestly believed up to now,Utah would never be liberal…I say that being a former bar and private club owner in the state and dealing with government agencies.
As I posted in the other thread…which suggests how screwed we really are…
Seriously, just quit voting for these idiots. The GOP is a corrupt, backwards organization that has given us but a handful of Senators and Reps who actually represent traditional American values. It’s all money.
He’s probably too busy recording the sound bite for his next PAC fundraiser phone call.
What a COS
I’m thinking most will start remembering which party they belong to a few months before their next election. Then, they will start huffing and puffing looking for your vote.
I also think the only way to get these nitwits attention now is to start a national recall effort…in every state.
I don’t think anything else will be enough to get their attention any more. They are far too gone.
cactusjoe #5 your take ant the quotes from the Founders are right on…
ACTION IS better than talk talk talk…
Putting $$$ into the coffers of those men and women of honor who are willing to run is the first step,,,
Yeah, lets elect all democrats because someone in Utah didn’t object to Eric Holder! That will show ‘em..
Orrin Hatch..With an American Conservative Union Rating of 100% is a now officially a RINO…
Better not give, vote or do anything but shake your fist at the republican party over this Orrin Hatch/RINO thing
because Michelle wants a democratic sweepeveryone here is more conservative than 100%.Bill Grant said:
The ACU rating is over-rated, Bill. You well know that politicians can change spots when it suits their political career.
But it does appear the new motto of the Republican Party overall is to lie down and coo “Give it to Me!”-where are the filibusters one might ask? Are they coming? I wonder now…
By the way MRIs are fun Bill…I just had one done on me to show I only have Meniere’s Syndrome (which is treatable) and not an actual tumor growing inside my head…pretty cool, huh?
I don’t agree with you on this blog report Bill, but you will have my civility as always.
Stay out of Trouble
I have no idea how that web site could possibly claim someone that voted for the TARP giveaway program could possibly be 100% conservative.
Now regarding placing a tax cheat into the position of collecting taxes, well, ‘Change we can believe in’ might be a bit of a reach.
I used to respece Hatch. Now, if he fell off a cliff tomorrow, I wouldn’t shed a tear (I know my recent posts have been harsh, but I’ve said this is posts in the past – unless we’re willing to play on their level, we’ll be beat every time).
When a government finds out that the voters are too apathetic to care or depend on programs for their lives, they realize that they can do anything they wish. Like a person approaching a swimming pool…first a finger and a toe. All okay. Then a jump. Then the party. It’s no wonder congress is so corrupt today. Seems more people are interested in “American Idol” than are interested in how the government screwed them up again. Politicians know that, and are beaming ear-to-ear.
It would be nice if we had a two party system instead of just two shades of Democratic: regular and lite.
I’m so fired up I can’t wait to donate more money to Guy Harrison, Executive Director of NRCC!
/sarc off
No, really, I have unsubscribed to all GOP emails begging for money. Why give it to them? They are, in fact, democraps. Sorry Bill Grant, that’s the way I feel.
I think the left is about to conclude their political offensive and have completely co-opted the GOP. Republicans are either quitting completely or giving up. Apparently, courage, mental toughness and principled behavior just aren’t their bag.
The only reason to support the GOP is if they are going to provide an alternative to Democratic Socialism. If they’re not going to bother, then what point is there to supporting them?
That’s the question BG just can’t quite come up with an answer to.
After reading MM’s article, I have decided to have scotch for breakfast. I am beyond a migrane.
I’m so tired of these RINO’s….
I’ve finally decided that the only way to change the crazy culture of the GOP is to get involved.
I volunteered to run on the GOP ticket for Township Trustee yesterday.
It’s only Grassroots, but you have to start somewhere.
Career Politicians like Hatch have been so inundated with liberal-speak over the years that they’ve lost their conservative view. (if they ever had it in the first place, hint: Lugar)
It’s easy to complain about the GOP. I know I have for the last few years especially.
However, you really don’t have any right to complain if you don’t do your part to change it.
I hear ” I wish the GOP would do ‘this’ or ‘that’”, but I don’t hear many people saying “I’m in the GOP, and I’m sick of the decay, and I’m going to do my part to make it better.”
Don’t bother with a third party. That just weaken’s us further. Fix the party we have.
The time is now people.
Join your local Republican Party, get out to a caucus and run for Township Auditor, or Mayor, or City Council, or School Board member, or Treasurer, or Recorder, or Assessor, or Clerk of Courts, or Trustee.
Many of these positions are up for election in both the Township AND the City AND the County. Many times they are won by Democrats because no Repubican is on the ballot!!
That is just freakin’ ridiculous!!!
You fellow Vet’s out there, don’t give up on Service now! Instead of bowing to Michelle O’s liberal thug service, go serve your community and advance Conservatism instead!
Okay. Rant is over.
Seriously though. Trustee.
Keep it up Orrin. You’re giving us so very much ammunition to use against you in two years.
That’s the problem, isn’t it? Senators no longer represent their states, they represent Washington DC.
They are not done by a long shot. Wait till they start putting President Bush, Vice President Cheney and others on trial for crimes. It is coming. These guys will sit there, hands folded and do nothing. I want to puke.
I think Hatch just got tired of not getting any invites to any Washington parties. He also probably believes that if he wants to have any say at all under the new regime he had better suck up to them.
I think the Republican party has thrown in the towel until 2010 at least. The problem is that a lot of us voters won’t forget.
The Republicans in D.C. have lost all sense of direction. They have lost the will to fight. Contrast what the Dems did to Bush’s nominees to what is happening now. It is enough to make me sick. Anyone interested in starting a new political party?
Here’s a guy who screwed up on his taxes not once but several times, and only paid the money back fully to the IRS after he was picked by Obama.
To top that off, according to this story,
Well, I guess he’ll fit right in.

Well, nonetheless I am sorry to hear that you had to go through that. Did you have vertigo? Are you being treated? Will you be OK? I hope you make a full recovery rumba, that must have scared the heck out of you. I wish there was something more substantive that I could offer other than good wishes and a quiet prayer for your health.
What’s a better rating? Is Orrin Hatch somehow not a conservative at this point? This is really what it has come down to. Whenever a republican does something that Michelle Malikn disagrees with (Like be in the same room with Daddy Yankee) it has become an excuse to de-legitimatize the whole party. It doesn’t even need to be someone like Lincoln Chafee or Jim Leach… We have graduated to calling Orrin Hatch a RINO. How can anyone believe this self-serving BS isn’t only serving the leftist agenda in the end? We actually have people on this blog wishing they could “spit” on republican senators, just like on kos…
There are barely enough to do it at this point. Losing elections has consequences. If we are so interested in pushing a conservative election perhaps we shouldn’t be following someone who is making it her life’s work to lose elections.
I appreciate that.
Sorry…
Feel better Rumba.

So, because a lifetime conservative republican isn’t going to block an appointment of Obamas you are going to check out of the process. That’s the logic you are being sold here.
Had Obama not been elected there would have been no appointment to block…. Enabling more democrats to win means more genuine leftist appointments and by then it will be too late to effectively stop them. Eric Holder isn’t a consequence of anything Orrin Hatch has done or wont do; he is a consequence of Barack Obama winning the election. And in terms of consequences; you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Vibeman is right. Starting a third party isn’t going to accomplish anything. The people of this Country are going to vote D or R and ignore any third party choices.
So the answer is to take back our party starting from the bottom up.
And when they ask for money, tell them in minute detail why you won’t give until they bring the party back to conservatism.
And we still would have had a president who supported bailouts, opposed most domestic energy production, caved on judges, didn’t care for tax cuts, believed in ManBearPig, and wanted to hand out American citizenship like Chinese restaurant menus.
Why bother?
I got an email from Guy Harrrison (website@nrcc.org), executive director of the NRCC. He said Pelosi had to go and here’s how much I could donate to make that happen.
I wrote back even though it’ll go into a bit bucket someplace that Pelosi isnt the only one who has to go, the entire Republican leadership including all the RINO’s needed to go. There needed to be a purge in the repub party and it’s needed now. Oh, and btw – dont contact me again until this happens.
Useless waste of time I know, but I did feel a little better.
Orrin Hatch is another good reason for term limits.

Socky, I actually support YOUR decision to opt out of the political process…
You should think about opting out of the internet as well.
So was Ted Bundy….and, smart! Would we want Bundy to be the Secretary of Homeland Security? Janet Reno was very competent too. Why not bring her back?
What’s the excuse behind supporting this “tax protester’s” nomination? “Oh, if this were different times, we wouldn’t have to accept this flawed nominee. But things are tough, and we need a man of this potential.”
Do as I say, not as I do. If you fit into the Obama/Clinton plan for America, we must overlook some ethical flaws in character. As far as the illegal immigrant nanny…you know the answer. “She’s was looking for a better life…It’s not HER fault that her papers were no longer in order…the fact is that they USED to be in order. I did my due diligence…am I supposed to maintain vigilance on my employees?”
If you liked the Clinton’s, you’re going to love the Obama’s.

You mean like the way you’ve opted out of intelligent conversation, and simply insult anyone who isn’t mindlessly loyal to the GOP?
We already have one political cult in this country. We don’t need two.

Yes, and we will have it until there is no more United States if we keep undermining efforts to get rid of it…
How’s this for a conversation starter: Socky, are you a part of the leftist sock puppet brigade that has been posting on supposed conservative websites in order to split the right off the Republican party to get the Obamamessiah elected? You know, the ones originating out of DU and little crapholes like this?
Are you one of these super-duper-uber-conservatives that is actually having a good laugh at the echo chamber?
Is “Socky” short for “Sock puppet”? Isn’t it interesting that you are effectively on the same page?
So, here is a guy who cannot balance his own checkbook, feigns ignorance of tax document he signed and the additional monies associated with it. Now we are supposed to trust him with the treasury of the United States. Yeah, right. GRRRRRR..
