AP’s final dig at President Bush

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 15, 2009 09:36 PM

President Bush delivered his farewell address this evening. He leaves a mixed legacy. I give him credit where it is due and blame where it is due. But one thing is unadulterated: The pure contempt of the man from the MSM.

Here’s how the Associated Press headlined its dispatch about the speech:

Bush address includes laundry list of back patting

In his farewell address to the nation, President George W. Bush is acknowledging that many of his decisions are unpopular with the American people. But he says there can be no debate about the results.

Indeed, a text of the speech comes with a laundry list of what Bush says are successes.

And there you have it: One final, BDS-tinged kiss-off masquerading as news.

Yes, I think I hear cheering from the AP newsroom, too.

I wished he would have defended his administration vigorously and sold his actions and ideals to the people. He didn’t—and he put far too much faith in dealing with liberals.

You do all realize, don’t you, that the AP published a fraudulent story about Obama’s birth records, and most people seem to have accepted it as truth?

    The AP headline was

State declares Obama birth certificate genuine

The AP wanted people to read that headline and believe that the State of Hawaii had declared the COLB produced by the Obama campaign was genuine.

But that is NOT TRUE. The Hawaiian officials never said any such thing.

The AP story went on to say:

State officials say there’s no doubt Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.

That, also, is NOT TRUE. The Hawaiian officials never said any such thing.

Those deceptions are based on the following truth:

Health Department Director Chiyome Fukino says she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate.

The only thing Fukino and Onaka verified is that the original birth certificate is on file in Hawaii. They never claimed to have looked at the original birth certificate, they never said he was born in Hawaii, they never said “there’s no doubt Barack Obama was born in Hawaii”, and they never verified that the COLB produced at the Obama campaign headquarters in Chicago was authentic.

The COLB produced at the Obama campaign headquarters in Chicago is a forgery and was only shown to a handful of people from the Annenberg Political Fact Check…an organization which has questionable ties to the former chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge…Barack Obama.

    Speaking of his predecessor,
compare the farewell speeches of Bush and Clinton.
‘Indeed’, AP, a text of Clinton’s 2001 speech comes with a ‘laundry list’ of what he ’says are successes’. Any man who serves us in that office is entitled to do the same. But AP slaps at President Bush for it.

Had Clinton been a (R) instead of a (D), every AP story about him would begin with “Impeached”.

    OK that’s enough venting.

President Bush will be treated kinder by history than by the myopic moonbats at AP.

Conservatives loved Bush in 2000. But he was a phony already then. Conservatives were willing to tolerate his obvious campaign lies, but in retrospect that was a mistake.

I guess that’s why we have a president and a congress about to implement economic policies that failed in the United States in the 1930s, failed in the Soviet Union, failed in India in the 1970s, failed in Latin America in the 1980s, and failed again in Japan in the 1990s.

If Japan and Germany can’t make socialism work, it can’t be made to work.

You’ve got a long and hard four years if you believe that PE Obama is going to be even half what liberals have built him up to be. That’s the trouble with creating an iconic figure. He’s still human and will eventually disappoint you.

Liberals are still in denial that Clinton was a liar even after seeing it repeated so often on TV.

The difference here is that conservatives have acknowledged many of Bush’s faults and have even criticized him for them. Many liberals still act as though the clouds will part for Obama.

You might want to buckle up. It’s going to be a bumpy ride if you’re making lists. Obama’s already wavering on closing Gitmo and that’s before he’s even taken office.

Because someone states information believing it to be correct and factual at the time does not make one a liar. It only makes their statements incorrect when the true facts see the light of day. Honest people will admit their error and correct their mistake.

Repeating information that you knowingly cannot prove and could very well be false, as you do on this forum, only points out who the real liar is.

Look folks, Bush is decent guy, but it nevertheless remains true that the GOP screwed itself by nominating one vertical cadaver after another for the White House.

With an electorate whose critical “muddled midle” is composed of tender, self-absorbed, blissfully-ignorant victicratic egos yearning for a surrogate father figure as president, a party simply cannot keep offering up the likes of Dole, Bush, or McCain (no matter how decent those guys are).

The idiot/infantile middle that controls elections wants a president who “makes them feel good about themselves”. They want that warm and smarmy mesmerization to last forever. They don’t have the brains to figure out that an actual hard-ass adult is needed for the job (rather than a soothing, empathetic Big Daddy).

With the help of his fawning, starry-eyed groupies, Junior Obambi has the potential to truly put this nation at risk. Only a true disaster will force them all to grow up.

He has done his best to help out President Obama in his preparation to be president–unlike “B.J.” Clinton and his minions.

I disliked his support for AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS (aka “undocumented immigrants”) and for his big spending programs.

I liked his taking the fight to the terrorists–the first time we have charged them anything for their attacks. I never thought we would escape more attacks after 9/11. It was also good to see Saddam Hussein paying for his crimes at the end of a rope. He did the best he could with the information he had at the time he had to act.

    * Figure out what happened to the TARP money
ASK THE DEMS. THEY JAMMED THIS DOWN THE THROAT OF AMERICA

    * De-politicize the government
WHAT YOU REALLY MEAN IS REMOVE ANY POWER CONSERVATIVES HAVE. THE DEMS ARE VISCIOUSLY POLITICAL AND YOU KNOW IT

    * Close the Guantanamo Bay prison
YOU’D LOVE TO SEE TERRORST FREE WOULDN’T YOU?

    * Restore order to Afghanistan
THAT’S GOING ON RIGHT NOW. WITH NO HELP FROM THE LEFT

    * Withdraw from Iraq
WHEN THE JOB IS DONE AND NO SOONER. BUT YOU’D LOVE TO SEE IT SPIRAL INTO TURMOIL THEN BLAME THE RIGHT FOR IT, WOULDN’T YOU?

    * Restore confidence in the financial services industry
SURE.. PUT THE DEMS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS MESS IN JAIL. START WITH BARNEY FRANK, CHRIS DODD AND NANCY PELOSI

usa_usa, I think there’s a difference between the comments by AP and what it typically a criticism of Bush by conservatives.

The APs comments are basically schoolyard taunting and other comments appear to simply be vindictive.

Criticism by conservatives, at least the criticism I am referring to, is more reasoned. Essentially… being critical of Bush’s decisions that defied reason.

AP has an agenda. Tear down Bush. Why else would they they print that headline? They expected, or rather, would have liked, Bush to grovel and apologize for even taking office after being elected. To think that Bush would not mention his accomplishments and thank those that worked for him is just ridiculous.

Maybe that explains the in conservative’s reactions and criticisms on Pres. Bush.

Bush betrayed far too many principles. He should apologize to all conservatives and Americans ( except the fat cats he bailed out ). Did you hear that he is sorry that his amnesty bill did not pass ? That alone is enough of a reason for real americans to dislike him forever.

But you miss the point and make my case at the same time. These are reasoned issues. AP has irrationality behinds it’s grudge.
