[O]nce again those who can must suffer to pardon and prop up those who can’t or won’t.

I don't mind helping those who CAN NOT help themselves. (I even give my own money as well as paying my taxes.) I really resent being forced to support those who WILL NOT help themselves.

Our gov has been operating without a lick of common sense. None of the elected officials seems to care about the will of the people or what's best for the country. Instead, they have developed a system which rewards themselves at our expense. We are not a bottomless pit of financial support for all their stupid programs. How long can they continue to ignore the American public?

once again those who can must suffer to pardon and prop up those who can't or won't. we have to pay for alarms in our homes and cars because our police which we pay for are busy giving out tickets instead of fighting crime. we must pay for colleges which teach high school courses, because high school teaches sex ed and propeganda. we must pay for bailing out the gamblers of our society, and we have been paying trillions for our lazy "poor" for nearly 50 years. we now have to pay for the illegal immigrants who come here to do the jobs our lazy won't do because they are gettin gubmint cheese. and you wonder why we have a deficit? imagine your house doing the things our government does, and how long before your family would be broke, homeless, and destitute.

Just wait till it's your contract that is violated.

How about furloughing government employees (unpaid) in all non-essential programs for one week a month. If we can survive for a year like that, then maybe we need to look into reducing our public sector workforce, and its associated cost,by 25% permanently.

As the market sinks again to test the lows of last fall, we can all be heartened by the fact that if we had not had this glorious bailout from our all-knowing and ever-generous government, we can only imagine how much worse it could be. Thank God for our glorious leaders. And just wait until we find out how many jobs are being saved by this as well. And all of this before our new Dear Leader finally steps into his own personal destiny.

How about the FEDS just get the HELL out of the way, and let the weak fall by the wayside, and the strong SURVIVE... We all know what happened when the FEDS tried to control the recession of 29... It became the DEPRESSION of the ages... Times like this are NATURES WAY of weeding out the GARDEN, so to speak... Stop creating the CRUTCH by which the weak only last for a short time...

How about cutting 25% of the Federal Government and its spending, eliminate capital gains tax for two years, extend the existing tax rates for two years, or implement the fair tax. Stop all bail-outs immediately and let the private sector take care of itself. There's nothing in the Constitution that empowers the Federal Government to interfere with the private sector.

End welfare programs for all except the needy senior citizens. You can't get food stamps without qualifying. Why should rich seniors benefit from the medicare and prescription drugs programs whey they can pay their own way? Welfare recipients can do the work that Americans won't do and send illegals back where they came from.

We already have national debt that our children, and probably our grandchildren won't be able to pay off.

Anyway, I think that would be a good start.

My program: Reduce all mortgages on owner-occupied primary homes by 50%. Suspend capital gains and income taxes, reduce corporate tax rate to 10%. Declare student-loan amnesty. Suspend non-essential government programs.

Yeah, it's not pure capitalism, but it's better than pouring money down the sinkholes of government and giant banks. At least under my plan, it raineth on the just and the unjust alike.
