One of the really funny threads I came across in the past 24 hours at a “Progressive” website was one loon asking his fellow loons if they, like him (or her) had hoped when they first heard of the plane landing in the Hudson River that the pilot would turn out to be a woman. LOL!

You can tell it was written 50 years ago, but it’s a pretty easy read. The biggest problem I have is that the type is small and my eyesight isn’t what it used to be.

He had a couple of friends spend the night (for the 3rd week in a row), I was kept busy feeding them at the same time I was dropping off and picking up my daughter from ballet. Oh yeah, and grocery shopping.

Today was another trip to and from ballet and a walk with my elder sons dogs (long story but the dogs are living with us until the end of July).

We are getting to go to the movies tonight, something we haven’t done in at least 6 months. My daughter and her friend are seeing Australia while my husband and I are seeing Defiance. I’d love to see Australia too, but my husband prefers to see Defiance. Our son has a date with his girlfriend.

Tomorrow is coupon clipping and housework, plus birthday shopping. Then we have dinner and cake with my family for my son’s and my Mom’s birthdays.

Throw in my work, my husband’s work (he works nights), concerts, performances, homework, etc.

And EVERY weekend is like this.

At least we have beautiful weather this weekend – 50s and 60s. It’s nice to get outside.

I wish more movies were made of our War for Independence. What courage. We are so far removed from those men, few realize the bravery it took to make that stand. Not just to face the might of the British Empire with a handful of farmers and mountain men, but the dire consequences for them if they lost.

Any Hollywood types looking for a story that’s undertold, there it is.

I think you’re absolutely right, b-cat. Braveheart comes very close even though it’s the First War of Scottish Independence.

We ARE so far removed from those men in numbers, but I’m confident there are some exactly like them today. A national gun confiscation would bring them into the light. They’re just living in obscurity for now.
