[...] The whole country is cheering, the media is patting themselves on the back and what’s left of the constitution is running for cover. What a great day it is! MLK’s dream has come true–a black man has been elected president on the content of his character! It had nothing to do with his his skin color. So what if so many voted against him because he is black and so many others voted for him because he is black. That’s what MLK meant right? For a man to be judged sort of by his character and mostly by his race? Wait, what have I missed here? [...]

Predicting that President Obama's abortion plans will cause unstoppable Godly judgment and passage of Heavenly Sentence will be executed and carried out on the USA. His lifting of Reagan's "Gag Order" is just the tip of a towering iceberg, and if anyone thinks that God will just sit idly by and do nothing, they have a train-wreck of a wake-up call coming....

Black Tuesday is right, "Marine_NCO". In honor of the day, I wore black. Was even asked if I was in mourning. "YES!"

Left early this AM for the VA hospital to get a bridge put in. 2 hours there, 3 hours in the chair, 2 hours back. At the moment I am sipping some 15 year old single malt and trying to forget about about BLACK TUESDAY. The death of the American dream.

I'm busy at work writing code to keep my company afloat.

Somebody has to work to pay the taxes for the two million who took the day off the freeze out on the mall.

The wife and I went to see Valkyrie. We drove there and back with the radio off. We were the only two in the theater. What a nice peaceful day. And I still love America!

Thanks! Same to you. I found one or two others here with birthdays tomorrow.
Doesn’t that seem like a high percentage for the number of people on a blog like this? Maybe it means something, like one is predisposed to politic interest.
I’m turning 51. Have a vivid memory of sitting on my mother’s lap when she told me that Mr. Johnson had defeated Mr. Goldwater, then painted a verbal picture of a dark cloud like a plaque descending on the country and its future. Thank God she isn’t here to see this debacle.

Happy birthday to us, eh? Interesting observation you make about our political proclivity and having January 20 as our natal day. And I'm just one year older than you, dear heart.

I listened to a tad of the inauguration on Rush Limbaugh. Being at work, I'm not glued to my headphones, but have gotten enough of the gist of the ceremony so that I can say I was "there" but without vomiting. However, I'm still trying to stop the bleeding from my ears from listening to that pseudo-poet's sophomoric poem. Gads, my kids could write that unfocused, non-metered drivel when they were in 5th grade. A Hallmark card has more substance and artistry. Bleh.

[...] America has reason to cheer. We have, for the 44th time, seen a peaceful transition of power. The election of a bi-racial President is a very public reminder that the American dream is available to everyone who chooses to strive for it. Conservatives, long ago steeled against small-minded nasty partisan commentary issued from Democrat leaders, have taken a “water off a duck’s back” approach to the pettiness we will see during this inauguration. While some say we have no right to join the celebration, they are easily ignored. If Obama’s ideology still bothers you, set it aside for today and see instead that we are still the great nation created and sustained by the work of brave Americans. Celebrate that.
Well, considering I'm near Raleigh, NC, I'm just trying my hardest to stay warm. Oh, and watching a bunch of movies since there's nothing other than the O-fest on TV.
