Spike Lee: God crashed the markets to help Obama
Hollywood libs have chucked that separation of church and state stuff completely out the window, now that their deity is ascending the throne. Director Spike Lee sees the hand of God in the subprime crisis and related economic calamities. Will he be ridiculed as vehemently as those who saw the hand of God in another recent catastrophe?
Over at his new blog Finkelblog, Mark Finkelstein spotlights the sermonizing:
Spike Lee has declared that God himself ordained the financial crisis to happen when it did in order to propel Barack Obama to victory. The film director offered his odd analysis on today’s Morning Joe . . . but not before declaring that tomorrow’s inauguration will be “the most important day in the history of the United States of America.”
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Let’s talk about tomorrow. What are you looking for?
SPIKE LEE: I think it’s going to be one of — I think it’s going to be the most important day in the history of the United States of America. I was able to finagle a good seat for my wife Kai and I, so I don’t really want to try to guess how I’m going to feel, but it’s going to be something deep and profound. Thank God I’m going to be able to witness with my own four eyes tomorrow.
With a little prompting from Joe, Lee then advanced his view of God as the ultimate Wall Street player.
SCARBOROUGH: I’ve always believed, and it seems naive, that God’s had a hand in America, and I get a real sense you feel that God has had a real hand in this.
LEE: So many things have happened. All of a sudden, the economy goes south at that moment, and then McCain [gestures going down].
No question. It was “pre-deortained.”

God gets blame and credit for a lot of things that have nothing to do with him. Aside to that, I’m not sure Spike Lee would be a trusty gauge of what God is thinking.
Question: If God is against murder and Democrats love to advance the rights of those that murder the unborn, why would God help them?
Do actors have a direct line to God? Are they sure it isn’t just the voices in their heads?
So if an evangelical preacher sermonizes that America’s woes can be related to certain acts of defiance towards biblical teachings, resulting in a shunning of Heaven’s blessings, it’s deemed hate speech and the speaker branded a bigoted racist and/or homophobe by the MSM. But when Spike Lee says similar things, it goes unchallenged?! Give me a break -
I have been wanting to stock market to hold up until after inauguration. I am certain that there are statistics concerning where the dow is at the beginning vs end of presidency.
During Bush, it is down about 15% from when he took office. I would not be surprised if the Dow is 5,000 by the time O’s first 4 years are over (down about 40%). The further down it goes before office the better Obama’s numbers will look.
Just like he says he’ll create or SAVE 3 million jobs, he’ll say he’ll make the market go up (or keep it from going down) a certain percentage point.
I watched Rahm Emanuel get interviewed. Those guys don’t give a straight answer to anything. They are not going to be able to fix anything though they won’t take any of the blame for wrecking it further.
I will make this prediction right now. The Dow will not be over 10,000 before Obama’s possible 8 years are over. . . and it won’t be Obama’s fault, it will be Bush’s.

What gets me is, let any conservative dare to talk about divine intervention in politics (”It was God’s will for Bush to be our President on 9-11″, etc.,) and they are a religious fanatic and a fool. But Mr. Lee informs us that it was the Big Guy Himself who intended for the stock market to tank so Obama could be elected.
My wife and I talked about this yesterday…my prediction is that if things don’t happen with the Obama agenda (whatever that is) within the first 100 days of the administration and/or the economy is still in the tank by Labor Day, many of the Messiah’s disciples will be screaming that they made a mistake.
The guy is in over his head…and the Clinton cronies that he has brought back from the dead won’t be much help to him.
And of course, a famous recent gem where Charlie Gibson attacked Sarah Palin for quoting Lincoln re “let us be sure that we are doing God’s will.”

Please. My brand of belittlement is a lot more subtle and usually references pop culture, rather than the Bible.
I was never really impressed by his movies. Always seemed shrill, ignorant and inconsequential, while maintaining a fine after-taste of self-importance and arrogance. Danny Aeilo is the only thing I recall from anything Lee’s ever made.
Maybe he’s right…maybe God is really just opening the eyes of the country to the disastrous liberal agenda by crashing the markets and bringing in Obama to reveal the weasel that he really is to the American people.
Maybe this is what we need – to give the idiots voting democrat what they want so they get what they deserve, which might just change their views.
I know…it’s pretty far fetched to think libtards will change their nutty beliefs. Call me an optimist.

I still say it is a relative bargain considering the number of poeple in DC, indeed across the country, who are getting their hopey on. I watched part of the concert on HBO yesterday andcouldn’t help but feel many emotions, including the aforementioned hopeiness. I also felt, in no particular order:
1) that Pete Seeger needs a new toque;
2)Bono’s voiced sucked;
3)Obama should have mentioned the Vietnam memorial in his speech.
Everytime I hear about werid tattoos, I am reminded of the guy who escaped jail here in SLC with nazi tattoos all over his face and expected not to be noticed.

Looking at the decline of American society over the last 50 years, I think Spike may be on to something here.

You can’t imagine her description of tears coming to her eyes and knowing that “something was happening” when she saw Obama won the election (actually, you can imagine, because this is how all of the One’s followers behave.. it’s all emotional and religious-ish worship, no actual reasoning).
But later, Greta topped that with a clip from her interview with new Senator Burris. Burris talking of how great of a job Obama will do, etc. etc. Said something along the lines of (I maybe be slightly paraphrasing) “He [Obama] has what we religious folks call ‘Divine Direction’”.
Now, the “Divine Direction” part I’m quoting accurately, I just don’t know that I got all words in Burris’ sentence correct.
At any rate, you read that right… The Senator filling Barry’s shoes, under the Blago scandal cloud, says The One has “Divine Direction”. Please pass the barf bag!
