And they lecture us about showing more respect?
Wonder how many of the people booing at the ceremony or singing “Hey, hey, goodbye” as Executive One lifted off were carrying media credentials.
BDS never dies.

Neither can I. I suspect somebody was getting their knowledge of this site from left wing commentary rather than actual examination.
BDS is a permanent fixture in American political life now. It will never stop…much like the Left continues to kick Nixon in the teeth again and again and again!
LGM, no offense, but you’re a complete hypocrite. I mean, to post something like the above quote after the ludicrous charges and exhortations you have made over the past year against President Bush, VP Cheney, Sarah Palin and even Donald Rumsfeld (a great man, btw) is hard to understand.
Besides, turn about is fair play, my man! Now that Obama is the nation’s political leader, the roles around here have reversed: It is we conservatives who get to go on offense against the administrations’ plans and actions while you liberals have the unenviable task of defending the indefensible – the B. Hussein Obama administration!
I thank Jimmy Carter for making me a conservative.
I was 13 when the hostages were taken and my world view expanded exponentially. I couldn’t fathom how anyone could let those people wallow in bondage when we had the ability to carpet bomb their entire country until they released them.
Ronald Reagan was a Godsend.
Once again lgm comes here and makes a jackass out of himself. You’d think that he’d realize that he’s doing it, but then again he’s a liberal, and liberals do not realize anything other than what’s he’s been indoctrinated.
Jimmy Carter was a horrible president by any standard. He’s a horrible ex-president by any standard. He was the first ex-president to undermine sitting presidents through “foreign diplomacy.” The man is in many ways a pariah to both parties, and few people with seats in office want to have ANYTHING to do with the man.
If Jimmy wants respect (or “love” as you put it), he ought to stop being such a bitter, angry, petty little man and show respect for sitting presidents and stop trying so hard to undermine their policies. He should stop showing such disregard for Israel in supporting violent terrorist organizations bent upon destroying that nation.
Jimmy Carter has indeed earned our ire and enmity by his utter lack for respect towards those who do not agree with him. Where have you seen presidents such as Reagan or Bush-41 behave so jaundiced as bitterly towards other men’s policies as Carter has? Jimmy Carter is indeed the sort of man who feels he deserves everyone’s respect, yet he himself has NONE to give to others.
Jimmy Carter was president of the United States, and such should be respected; however, I will NOT sit back and be cowed when he behaves so much like a little child and resists proper presidential decorum. And you, lgm ought to be able to tell the difference between our disdain for Carter’s pettiness and liberals utter partisan hatred towards a sitting president.

First of all that’s not even an exaggeration, it’s a flat out lie. I’m on this site regularly and I can’t recall seeing any calls for Obama’s death, much less “routine” postings like that.

But if our lovely hostess “routinely” allowed threats against the lives of the Obamas to be posted on her site, methinks she and all those posters would be in deep-you-know-what.

I guess you guys don’t read all the posts on this site that carefully. I won’t spend my day going through all the germane threads, as is often said here; I have to work so I can pay my share of the debt George W Bush left the country in. But two gems that come to mind that you can research if you’d like are:
1. I think it was die hippie die who wrote something to the effect that he was burning a candle in hopes of Michelle Obama’s death.
2. And just a week or so ago there was a thread about the Barack Obama’s smoking habit. A commentator whose name I don’t recall said something along the lines that she and her mother were hoping that his smoking would do some good and cause him to develop lung cancer. Sounds like a lovely mother – daughter relationship, don’t you think.
These are but two examples. I called hippie on the first, and as I recall there was only one other poster who after my comments took him to task. I think that was see dubya. There was silence from the rest.
And I guess routine is up to one’s personal definition. I bet if you have the time, you can find at least a few such posts in any given week. And frostrt, reread my comments, I never said there were outright threats. I don’t even think the posters here are that mindless that they would post direct threats to President Obama.
lgm: Please, please, please keep linking Jimmy Carter to Obama! Your arguements rarely have an affect on this site but using Jimmy Carter in any arguement linked to Obama supports Conservative principles and ideals 100 fold. We fully expect Obama to govern just like Jimmy Carter – opens the door for another Reagan (how about that Palin chick, huh lgm?)….
TELL ME ABOUT IT
les, are you actually trying to equate what some have posted here about how they hope that ill befalls Obama and the loathing and vitriol that is so widespread among his detractors. I work for a security office, and I saw it in our office–even to the point where my immediate supervisor posted a photo from the local newspaper of Islamists in the Gaza strip burning Bush in effigy. I took that picture down, and felt I needed to explain to this man that as security officers we couldn’t have such anti-American propaganda posted in our office, and that if our superiors were to see it, that they might think we supported it.
I do not think that my supervisor supports Islamist anti-America terrorists. He simply displayed his political bias, and enjoyed ANY images that portrayed Bush-43 in a bad light, so much so that he did not think about who it was who displayed their disdain towards our president.
les, what some say here and what is displayed so widespread, openly, and so ACCEPTEDLY by Bush-haters is comparing apples and oranges. Look at the link that On-my-soap-box posted–an AP photo of a urinal in the shape of Bush, and tell me were anyone has done anything like that with regard to Obama, and the Associated Press has given it the light of day. There is no comparison.
USA RIP
Are you talking about these posts? Because I cant find anything else from this year remotely close to Obama getting lung cancer from smoking that is related to a mother/daughter hoping for it

Lets see… die of Emphysema/heart disease at 65 or cancer/degenerative diseases at 80. Which is cheaper?

My grandmother was in her 80s and my mother was in her 50’s when they both died within a month of each other. My grandmother died of Emphysema and my mom of cancer.
Vince Lombardi once said about football, “To play this game you have to have a fire within you, and nothing stokes a fire like hate.”
Liberals have learned from history (Hitler, Stalin, etc.) that using hate to turn an opponent or someone in your way into a villain or an enemy is the most effective way to motivate your followers and nullify the effectiveness of your adversary’s message.
BDS, PDS, and ?DS are necessary, because The Left have no ideas that are palatable to the majority of the electorate. You debate the issues Progressives are dead meat. If they cannot play on emotion, they are toast. They have to change course of the conversation. Within 48 hours Democrats and their media buddies accomplished that with Sarah Palin. They had to trash her personality, dress, background, family, pregnancy choices, career choices, children, and qualifications (laughable considering Obama’s). Criticism of her positions was unimportant; they needed to vilify her and do it quickly. More meat for the wolf pack.
Republican candidates need to fight back two ways; first challenge the Democrat candidate to repudiate all of the DS related rhetoric. If they do not, pound them mercilessly for it. The second has been discussed ad nauseum. Stop trying to be a better Democrat than the Democrat.
Liberals today are like a religious cult. They are intolerant and “reaching out” to them is futile, because they do not want bipartisanship; only power. They must be viewed as an adversary and defeated. I hope someday sanity will return to the Democrat party, but until then, it is a war; pure and simple.
From dictionary.com
If the conduct you cite was truly routine then your post wouldn’t be so full of weasel words like “I can’t recall”, “I think”, and “along the lines of..”. If wishes for Obama’s death were commonplace on this site you wouldn’t have to do a lot of research, you could pluck an example from almost any thread you randomly picked.
For example, the following things are routine around here:
- expressions of pro-life / anti-abortion sentiment
- citation of Judeo-Christian religious values to support a position
- reservations about Obama rooted in his Marxist beliefs or associations with an assortment of racists and domestic terrorists
- a generalized distrust in the ability of the Federal Government to solve problems
- someone calling LGM a moron
I’d bet my next month’s pay that you could find at least one of those things in the comments of 90% of the posts on this blog. That’s routine.
What you’re trying to do here is take what is at worst the rare outbursts of some isolated posters and equating them with the truly routine, truly widespread and truly vile disrespect and personal animus directed at G.W. Bush from the American Left.
In a way though that’s good. Your attempt to play the “well look what your side does!” game shows that in your heart you know that the treatment shown Bush and his administration is despicable and indefensable.
Just an interesting sidenote for you all: Some defaced a statue of Former President Bush SENIOR!
I’m guessing it was someone so feverish with BDS that they couldn’t tell the defference between George W. and George H.W. :

Forgive les and lgm and omu – they know not what they do. I mean seriously. They don’t.
I’m not kidding. Inventing death threats out of thin air just to feel superior to the regular member of this board yet ignoring their own parties unending litany of death threats and plots against President George W. Bush? That’s rational?
My favorite is when the left makes up their own history to assuage their guilt over being associated with the
KKKDemocratic Party.… not knowing Frederick Douglass and Dr. Martin Luther King were proud Republicans – still cracks me up.
Hm, that’s an interesting quote. You do realize that the terrorists think the EXACT same way, right? Of course their ideals mean bloodshed until we all submit to Islam, so they could give a crap about their own safety (unless they sit at the top of the dung heap they manage to rule.)
Yeah. I am sure that Obama’s rhetoric has them trembling in their turbans. They still hold that same fervent hate. It has nothing to do with Bush or Obama. It has everything to do with them wanting to kill us and submit us to their own brand of slavery.
Maybe serving them tea and cakes at the White House will help them see the error of their ways.
