Wonder if Rahm Emanuel made this face, featured on Drudge, as Barack Obama was admonishing us to “put away childish things…”

    Emanuel is a child, especially with all the pranks he had pulled, such as sending dead fish to a pollster that ticked him off. What will he do now, if someone ticks him off, since he is so close to The One?

    An excellent, professional speech, delivered very well. Unfortunately most of the platitudes and admonitions are currently being ignored or flouted by his supporters and by his own party. It remains to be seen if Barack Obama believes anything of what he said.

    I remember when John F Kennedy became president. Our school brought in televisions so we could watch the show. “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country” brought chills.

    A cult of personality surrounded JFK as it does Obama. Women swooned like a Chris Mathews and men wanted to be him. I still see the president standing proud and hatless on a cold day. I see Robert Frost as the wind blew his gray hair about.

    The new age had arrived. It was a heady feeling. Our illusions died hard, and I suspect it will be worse this time.

    This was an attempt to put himself ‘above the fray’ with regard to the current petty partisan politics.

    I don’t think the Democrat Party leadership in either house, will appreciate President Obama’s assertion…their unified response will be,

    “You’re not the boss of me!”

    “Put away childish things.” Hmm, reminds me of something:

    “Take up the white man’s burden!
    Have done with childish days.
    The lightly proffered laurel;
    The easy, ungrudged praise.
    Comes now, to search your manhood,
    Through all the thankless years;
    Cold-edged, with dear-bought wisdom –
    The judgment of your peers!”

    - Rudyard Kipling

    Just a coincidence as to the topicality, I suppose…

    Perhaps but I am thinking I would rather hunker down and let the Obaminites come take them. Maybe I can take one or two of the turncoats with me.

    Okay, I’ll probably take heat for this but in the interest of fairness I’d like the see the context of the picture and who he was making that face at. He could have been goofing around with one of his or someone else’s kids and if that’s the case this is all being blown way out of proportion. We’ve got 4 years to yuk it up over these buffoons, let’s not start overreaching now.
