The copyright license seems to apply to user-submitted content, not the content generated by the governmenbt for hte site itself, but things uploaded by third parties and the public. It’s fairly common to boilerplate with a third-party license like that when you’re planning to allow people to upload things to your website. Using a CC license is trendy, but it makes sense to use something similar regardless – otherwise you get into all sorts of legal issues over who owns what. So essentially what the license says is, “when you upload, you retain the copyright but you give us the right to show it to other people all over the world.” Bog-standard stuff for user-generated content sites. Youtube will have something very similar.
So, I guess whitehouse.gov is going web2.0 on us. Does this mean we’ll be getting WhitehouseTub now?
The Messiah has some REAL work ahead of him. For the first time in years, he actually has a job that isn’t an obvious springboard to another job. Since Michelle and Jill are part of the administration – one that is committed to transparency and responsibility – will whitehouse.gov post a copy of the UofC Hospital policy she rewrote to turn away indigent patients and redirect them to neighborhood clinics? All while the hospital started getting larger federal grants and her salary more than doubled. Just one way to show how she has demonstrated her sense of personal responsibility and service that the new President is committed to.

As Neil Boortz said this morning: “By this time tomorrow Barak Obama will be the loneliest man in America.” Despite all the staff and syncophants around him, the weight of responsibility will come down hard. If you have any inclination to pray for someone, he is a good candidate. I would not have that job for all the tea in China.
Why would anyone want to do that? That place is a lost cause. Nature demands its return, and all sensible engineers agree.

I don’t understand. Why does anyone think the campaign is over? The only worthy note in Obama’s entire history is his presidential campaign. The day we got a President Elect was the start of the Obama ’12 campaign.
An empty suit like Obama could just do whatever his wife or Rahm Emmanuel tell him to do, or just follow the lead of Stretch Pelosi.
He has a long history of missing critical votes in the Senate and voting “present” in the Illinois State Senate.
Why should he start making tough decisions now?
Actually, making decision should be easy for him. All he has to do is let Planned Parenthood, PETA, GLAD, the unions, and the Global Warming nutcases tell him what to say.
After all the coming tax increases, and deficit spending we are about to see, change (quarters, dimes, and nickels) is all we’re gonna see.

I don’t find the concept of eternal campaigning as offensive as some, and in fact wish the Republicans would learn how, but not on the taxpayers’ money, Obama. Basic ethics.
Also reminds me of another classic Rodney Dangerfield line, one he delivered in Caddyshack. After perusing the dance floor, Rodney comments: “Last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a hook in it.”
My guess is that Obama’s going to do whatever Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid tell him to do. What else CAN someone who has absolutely NO life experience and the means in his disposal to make the difficult decisions that must be made by a president of the United States?
Obama has been carried along his whole life, and it will be no different here, except when the decisions are wrong, he’ll be “the one” who will get blamed, rather than someone else. It’s going to be hell for the guy–so much so that I won’t doubt that he’ll reach a point where he’ll regret not being ONLY a US senator, where he can sit back and point fingers of blame, and tell the country what HE’D do if HE were president.
Now, it’s going to all fall upon the man-child Obama, and it ain’t gonna be pretty. I’m actually glad that the Nimrod John McCain isn’t there to take all of it. No more Republicans to blame anymore–the ball isn’t simply in the Dem’s court–the ball, players, and the court itself all belong to them and them alone.
We’d be screwed regardless, but now it can’t be said that the disaster to come is because of conservatives.

I did just visit the site…had to see the thing for myself. I do feel like it is a big campaign add with a little sprinkle of history. I sent an email to them, and am sure either (1) It will be ignored or (2) I will have a visit by the ObamaSensitivity Police. Here is all I said:
Could you PLEASE wait at least until the inaugural hangover is gone before you start slamming former President Bush for Katrina when clearly it was a failure on ALL levels of government, especially local and state. Funny how the same storm (and many like it) effected other states and they know how to rebuild/get on with their lives without depending solely on just ONE level of government. Good luck, as this is not the kind of togetherness I expect

The Feds threw enough money at that city to rebuild it a couple of times. Maybe Obama should invesitgate where all that money went. First place I’ll suggest looking is in William Jefferson’s freezer.
They just took the crap from their campaign and transferred it without change to the White House. For example:

Obama and Biden believe it is vital that a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) be reached so our troops have the legal protections and immunities they need. Any SOFA should be subject to Congressional review to ensure it has bipartisan support here at home.

I had the opportunity to visit the White House website yesterday when I was looking for the President’s e-mail address in order to e-mail him a farewell. I had visited the website many times over the last 8 years, for various reasons, and never…not once…was it EVER about President Bush. In fact, the main page pretty much showed the White House and then there were smaller items telling of different events and such that was or had been going on.
Having just gone to it now, I can say I am completely disgusted. This is not his personal website. This is still “The People’s House”, and someone needs to tell His Highness that he is NOT our emperor.
The only thing that makes it the slightest bit tolerable is the knowledge that “What goes up, must come down”. He has allowed himself to become so over-inflated, allowed himself to be placed so high on a pedestal, and has bought into his own hype so much, that soon…and I know it must be very soon, he will come crashing down to earth.
When that crash happens, it will be in such a way that he will be incapable of recovering from it. Nothing is more destructive than when The Cult of Personality begins to believe their own feces that they spread.
The Media will be incapable of protecting him and there will be a rush of rats leaving his ship the likes of which this country has never seen. Even all the back-pedaling that he has been doing over the last few weeks has not been enough to keep him from his destruction, as today’s Coronation evidenced.
Mark my words…this man will crash, and crash hard…sooner rather than later…and the best we can all hope and pray for is that when he does, he will not take the country down with him.
