You’re a grand O flag

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 20, 2009 09:56 AM

Remember the appearance of that schlocky Obama Flag of the United States at a Baltimore rally over the weekend?

Well, O-flags are now in full bloom in Washington. The new colors of patriotism are red, white, blue, and O. I recall when Hollyweird actress Gwyneth Paltrow once condemned the “over-patriotic” displays of Americans as “too weird.”

But now that the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and O-ld Glory have been redefined, it’s all cool. Or as the Obamedia puts it, uber-cool.

Are the Obamanites supposed to feel better about Old Glory now that “The One” is pictured on it?

How many of us served and have friends and loved ones who served under this flag, which represents all Americans? How many who have lost their lives serving under the Red, White and Blue are now spinning in their graves?

This is desecration, plain and simple.

Agreed. Although I recognize and do not begrudge the historical significance of President Obama’s election, our flag has never been altered in any way for any President and should never be. Our country is not about who our President happens to be at any given time.

    “A TOAST TO THE FLAG”

    (c) by John Jay Daly
    of Washington, D. C. (1888-1976)

Here’s to the Red of it –

There’s not a thread of it,
No, nor a shred of it
In all the spread of it,
    From foot to head
    But heroes bled for it,
Faced steel and lead for it,
    Precious blood shed for it,
    Bathing it Red!

Here’s to the White of it –

Thrilled by the sight of it,
Who knows the right of it
But feels the might of it
    Through day and night?
    Womanhood’s care for it
    Made manhood dare for it;
    Purity’s pray’r for it
    Keeps it so White!

Here’s to the Blue of it –

    Beauteous view of it,
    Heavenly hue of it,
    Star-spangled dew of it
    Constant and true;
    Diadems gleam for it,
    Liberty’s beam for it
    Brightens the Blue!

Here’s to the Whole of it –

Stars, stripes and pole of it,
    Body and soul of it,
O, and the roll of it,
    Sun shining through;
    Hearts in accord for it
Swear by the sword for it,
    Thanking the Lord for it,
    Red, White and Blue!

I’m not surprised at all. There is too much emphasis on “feeling good” about oneself so there can be no room for feeling respect for an inanimate object. However, that object represents so much more than just the 50 states of our Republic.

Note my post (#11) about what the flag means to me and to so many others who actually care about things beyond ourselves. John Jay Daly’s “Toast” is difficult for me to read out loud, because it reminds me of what our country is and how it became great.

Since history taught in our schools today downplays the “Too Frail, Too Pale and Too Male” (translation “Old white guys”) and instead highlights “self” above all else, we will continue to see a lack of respect for the flag, our nation and its leaders — except for “The One” because he causes a tingle up the leg.

See how they wave the flag almost like the patriots they have been chastising since birth? That’s because they’ve had a printer symbolically take a dump on it then paid an ungodly amount for the honor of showing the world that they don’t give a crap about the sacred symbol true patriots have died for in the past 200 years. This is called “Hope” as in “I hope they choke on it”

Now ignoring them, as is only right, we continue our tour… to the right you will see the Obama cabinet – looks stunningly familiar? That’s because it’s the same gang of criminals that Bill Clinton used in his attempt to destroy the country. This is called “Change”

Looking straight ahead you’ll see a list of all the promises Obama has kept to this point. What say sir? You can’t see it? Very astute sir! You can’t see what isn’t there.

You make it seem like these things are the Official Obama Inauguration Flag, each one lovingly handcrafted by Michelle, Sasha or Malia.

These are cheap trinkets made up by some huckster to make a quick buck selling them to people that don’t know any better.

And in any case, this is hardly the first time something like this has been done.

as a disabled veteran these displays sicken me to no end….trinkets to make a buck or not, they make a mockery of the Flag and what it has stood for since our inception and violate the Flag Code…to me it is almost as bad as illegal aliens stomping on or burning our flags while hoisting the buzzard flag on our soil…

hopefully these displays will go away as the elation wanes and the reality that this country is in deep doo doo sets in…

This is too simple and pathetic. These people have no idea of what America is, and that it is an ideal that deeper than mere people that they get on the bandwagon with. These people do not see America as a constitution and principles. They have mistaken love of country with love and adoration for this poser.

By the end of His reign — which I predict will be longer than 8 years, since either they will repeal the 22nd Amendment or just defy it

I thought the same thing after seeing how familiar all this hullabaloo is, reminding me of Germany in 1933 with the rise of Hitler, only problem is there is no America waiting in the wings to save the world from this tyranny.

Maybe so, but I think knowing that those flags were desecrated would make them even more appealing to those buying them. These people HATE America and everything it stands for.

In the coming years, look for rationing of gasoline and food, astonishing rises of poverty and unemployment, a plunge into sharia law, and the government’s hand on the jugular of every taxpaying American. We’ve already submitted to socialism.

If they don’t crown Obama emperor in the next 4 years, and he actually has to run for reelection, there WILL be a repeal of the 22nd amendment if he wins that election.

The similarities of todays events and those of 1930′s ralleys in Germany are astounding and disturbing. I fear this is the beginning of the end for the US.

Today I weep. Tomorrow I fight.

I find these flags much creepier than the Nativity scene business awhile back.

I also find actual flags creepier than mugs and t-shirts.

That said, the only reason I know that there is such a thing as a flag code is because I’m a military brat. I’m not sure it serves a purpose to dismiss the merely ignorant out of hand, and am not inclined to be too hard on people wearing it on a t-shirt or having it on a mug. They mean well. They don’t know better. If a first grader pronounces a word incorrectly while trying to read it, do you ground the kid for a month because of disrespect to the language, or correct the kid gently and help the kid keep reading?
