A few questions about President Obama’s first airstrike

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 23, 2009 02:02 PM

From the Times of London:

“Missiles fired from suspected US drones killed at least 15 people inside Pakistan today, the first such strikes since Barack Obama became president and a clear sign that the controversial military policy begun by George W Bush has not changed.

Security officials said the strikes, which saw up to five missiles slam into houses in separate villages, killed seven “foreigners” – a term that usually means al-Qaeda – but locals also said that three children lost their lives. ”

Reader John has a few questions: “Where are the anti-war liberals? Where are the baby-killer signs? Why [aren't] the major media networks showing pictures of dead children as a result of Pres. Obama’s air strike?”

Hey, haven’t you heard? CHANGE HAS COME TO AMERICA.

Obama willing to invade Pakistan in al-Qaeda hunt

Barack Obama, a leading Democrat candidate in the US presidential race, provoked anger yesterday by threatening to send troops into Pakistan to hunt down terrorists — even without permission from that country’s Government.

    Couple points, though, Chap.

Did he work with an international coalition and UN before engaging in military operations within Pakistan? Was he working with the Pakistani government?

Has Reuters and AP had sufficient time to film the dead children, or will they be using the same stock footage that they use when covering the Gaza conflict?

Why were the 7 Al-Qaeda members not apprehended and tried in a US court with an overwhelming amount of evidence to prove that they were, in fact, terrorists?

Could missle shrapnel be considered a form of torture?

…you’ll have to forgive me if most of these questions sound ridiculous. I’m trying to reach into the far-left psyche.

    Quite right.

This is the point that liberals miss about those that support our military’s mission. We don’t celebrate death.

We do, however, believe that there are those in this world that will not stop killing innocents until they themselves are killed. While I might not celebrate the necessity of killing, I will not shed a tear for a dead Al Qaeda terrorist.

I can do that and also regret the loss of innocent life as part of collateral damage.

I care not whether they are Pakistani, Iraqi, Canadian, or American (another point missed by those suffering this new breed of post-racialism racism). If they wish to do me or my country harm, I will not weep for their demise.

You need to qualify that a bit. The “troops” were spec ops squads on a search and destroy mission(s). But you’re correct, that does not constitute an invasion. But saying Bush would not hesitate to “send troops” implies he would have considered a formal military offensive which is likely not true.

Obama lied, people died. That one’s for you LGM.

Obviously lgm and Ilovemycountry are racist islamophobes and support killing women and children. I pretty much expected that of them along. And I shall give his President Barack Hussein, Allah be Praised, Obama all the respect and courtesy they and their ilk gave Presidents Reagan and Bush II.

Why hasn’t President Barack Hussein, Allah be Praised, Obama released the Gitmo detainees already? It does NOT take a year to open a gate! Mr. President TEAR DOWN THAT GATE-LET YOUR BROTHERS GO regardless of what racist islamophobes such as lgm and Ilovemycountry tell you!

no one ‘warped’ what Obama said..he said what he said.

so far the pakistanis have done nothing other than complain…but if we are not very careful, it could lead to an islamicist government being installed in pakistan…with the nukes…

    bush had it right…SECRET orders…don’t tell anyone…and DENY everything…

Obama was a fool to state this publicly….

and now after years of hearing how BOOOSH was a war criminal, a murderer, Obama does the same thing…in his first few days in office…but of course the libs won’t complain at all..

Except he did say he would:

Responding to a question whether U.S. forces would track down Osama if it meant hunting him down on Pakistani soil, Mr. Bush in an interview to CNN on Wednesday replied, “Absolutely”. “We would take action necessary to bring him [Osama] to justice,” the U.S. President said.

And also except after they did it, they denied nothing.

Am against the stimuli pkgs, but here’s a cost saving measure: all government officials (Pres, Gov, Sens, Reps, Mayors, etc) should immediately take a reduction in salary to equal the average public elementary school teacher. Imagine the money that would be saved…

I agree. As an actual patriot who wants what’s best for my country (without regard to who does it) I applaud anything Obama does that results in dead enemies.

    However…

I think it’s perfectly fair, reasonable and necessary to point out the hypocrisy and intellectual bankruptcy of the Left on issues of defense. Each time the Obama administration does something like this I ask his groupies around my office to answer this:

For the last eight years have you been opposing policies you knew were for America’s benefit? That is, have you been putting naked partisanship over the lives of your neighbors? Or does this mean that Obama is also just like Hitler? Because the way I see it there ain’t no third choice.

It’s been fun watching them avoid answering me. If one of them ever does I’ll let you know.
