ACORN Watch: Left-wing fraudsters “could get billions” in stimulus money

House GOP leader John Boehner’s office reports that the left-wing voter fraud/illegal alien/housing entitlement racketeers at ACORN “could get billions” more in federal taxpayer funding from the Democrats’ stimulus bill.

Incredibly, the Democrats’ bill makes groups like ACORN eligible for a $4.19 billion pot of money for “neighborhood stabilization activities.”
Not so “incredible.” More like “inevitable.” As in inevitable lard-up.
Funds for this purpose were authorized in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act, signed into law in 2008. However, these funds were limited to state and local governments. Now House Democrats are taking the unprecedented step of making ACORN and other groups eligible for these funds:
“For a further additional amount for ‘Community Development Fund,’ $4,190,000,000, to be used for neighborhood stabilization activities related to emergency assistance for the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes as authorized under division B, title III of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (Public Law 110–289), of which—
“(1) not less than $3,440,000,000 shall be allocated by a competition for which eligible entities shall be States, units of general local government, and nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities[.]”
“(2) up to $750,000,000 shall be awarded by competition to nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities to provide community stabilization assistance […]”
The House Democrats’ trillion dollar spending bill also includes $1 billion for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. CDBG funds are given by the federal government to state and local governments which often contract with nonprofits for services related to the purpose of the grant.
ACORN knows how to secure CDBG funds. Audit reports filed by ACORN’s headquarters with the Office of Management and Budget show that ACORN spent $1,588,599 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program funds from FY 2003 through FY 2007. It is not clear from these records when or from what source the funds were awarded to ACORN. It is also not clear whether ACORN chapters or affiliates have received CDBG grants on their own.
House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) repeatedly urged President George W. Bush and other federal officials to withhold taxpayer funds from ACORN, including $17.2 million in federal grants awarded in December 2008 after numerous allegations of wrongdoing in connection with ACORN’s election activities were reported by the news media.
As I’ve reported previously, the Generational Theft Act and other Democrat spending boondoggles will serve as giant slush funds for far Left non-profits. Republicans failed to do anything to stop it when they held the White House.

This should be on every billboard, in every city, across the nation. TV ads would be nice too, to counter the never ending/continuing Obama campaign we get at every commercial break on every channel.
This is no stimulus bill. It is an opportunity for the liberals to get unfettered access to tax dollars without having to go through the legislative motions that guide Congress and subsequent review and approval from the Executive branch.
One can liken it to “kids in a candy store” mentality, euphorically spending on every pork barrel, political pay off they’ve ever dreamed of, rewarding all of those groupies like ACORN who did their very best to sway elections by voter registration fraud.
The lunatics are truly in charge of the insane asylum.
This demo-commie congress/senate and president is going to Front door, Backdoor, and Throw Down the chimney, this country into a solid Welfare dependant state at all costs.
This country needs to start over.. what we have now is a becoming a combination of Late 1930s America and Late 1930s Nazi Germany.

Well if the democrats are going to continue “finding” ballots after every election they have to get the registration numbers fraudulently up so that the number of voters will be under the number of registrations. That way when they lose they can pad their numbers and still elections. ACORN needs to be funded to keep padding the numbers.

The parallels to the trajectory of the USSR are many. These commies are going to pull this nation down. They’ve ruined the economy, the education system, the press and many cities and states. Frankly, I hope they go all out and get it over with. It’s going to be up to the good people of this country to pull together when it’s all over and try to be more successful at building USA-II than the Russians have been at building Russia-II. In just the first few pages of the so-called stimulus, there is outlined much pork for the expansion of govt.
There is $600 million to prepare the US for universal healthcare. There is money to expand unemployment to 33 wks.
There is money to expand welfare benefits to families of 4 making up to $44,000.
Expansion of elderly money to get more of them dependent on the govt. teet.
And more and more and more.
They want to push this through as quickly as possible so no one will have the opportunity to see what’s really in it. The next level in building their socialist utopia.
As someone who has spent over 7+ years on urban housing issues, I can tell you that non-profits have no business developing housing. With few exceptions (note-Habitat for Humanity is NOT one of them), these organizations simply do not have the capacity to be efficient builders.
Never has redeveloping a few houses in an area where hundreds of abandoned homes may exist done anything. It only serves as PR opportunities for the local politicians (probably dems)
Conversely, ten-year tax abatements for new and construction and redevelopment can completely transform a neighborhood in only a few years. However, groups like ACORN do nothing but demonize this solution because it cuts them out of the money.
This happens to be a verse that I hold near and dear to my heart.
This is truly where the focus should be – we’re in for a bumpy road. Bible-clingers – activate!

We stand a slim chance of stopping it in the Senate if people will call and write the few Republican representatives left and demand that this atrocity be stopped before our government makes our dollar completely worthless. Issues like this (and the contraceptive issue) need to be waged on the policy front, not the ideological front. The GOP doesn’t have the numbers, nor the backbone, to make some of the arguments about the march towards socialism. Further, the Obamedia has no interest in report things like this.
The way to fight these things, IMHO, is through the way of the wonk. Foolish policy needs to be shown for what it is at a cost-benefit level and any time you can use their think-tanks to make the point the better.
For instance, this scatter shot neighborhood redevelopment that will grant CBDG funds to non-profits (such as ACORN) has been proven to not work and has been written about by places like the Urban Institute Foundation, a favorite think tank of the left.
Ideology aside, things like this shouldn’t be included in a stimulus because they are completely ineffective.
I hate to say this, but with so many dems in office, it looks like a “stimulus” is going to happen to matter what. The best thing to do is to keep it from being larded up by exposing ineffective programs for what they are, hand-outs to loyalists.

As far as the stimulus package, you guys have it right. It is no such thing, and the libs know it as well. Instead it is every entitlement program the libs ever dreamed of all rolled into a nice package. They know it won’t work! They do not care! What is important to them is to get these programs funded and locked into the government food-chain. That way these collectivist programs will survive forever and continue the lib dream of a collectivist utopia.

I don’t know what Obama’s status is, and I am sure that 99 percent of us don’t know, at least based on having access to hard evidence. But, forget the courts and the congress. The only way the truth will be revealed (one way or the other) is by investigative citizens searching for evidence that can’t be ignored. It appears (only a suspicion) that not only is most evidence sealed, it has also been, and is being, scrubbed….for whatever reason.

Funny you should say that. Other than the last year when it rose 3% , the birth rate among unwed mothers dropped 25% over the years that the absitance program was in place per the U.S. Department of Health.
