GOP holds the line: 244-188. This crap sandwich is all yours, Dems

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 28, 2009 06:21 PM

Own it. Embrace it. Swallow it. The House version of the $1.1 trillion Generational Theft Act of 2009 is all the Democrats’ doing now.

Not one Republican voted for it. (1 Republican had to leave early).

177 Republicans and 11 Democrats opposed.

No bending over today.

Finally. A party of opposition worth its name.

And now… on to the squishes in the Senate.

Savor this while you can.

Kudos to the GOP leadership for showing some spine. More, please.

Mega-kudos to the conservative staffers on the Hill behind the scenes standing up for what’s right and providing intellectual and informational ammunition to the grass-roots.

And bailout-sized kudos to each and every one of you who made your voice heard.

Gird your loins. We’ve only just begun.

***

Allahpundit’s got the lowdown.

Dems who voted NAY: Griffith, Peterson, Boyd, Bright, Kanjorski, Kratovil, Cooper, Taylor, Ellsworth, Minnick, and Shuler.

Now, that’s bipartisanship we can believe in!

Full roll call vote is here.

I look at it that the stimulus plan is an obvious money grab and re-election package for the Dems and will not stimulate anything except their pet liberal projects. It was so obvious not one Republican could bring themself to vote for it.

Maybe there’s some hope for the Republican Party. We need to turn our sites on the Democrats who come from middle leaning districts and make sure they understand they weren’t voted into office to walk arm in arm and in lockstep with the liberal left wing of their party.

There are two in Virginia who should be watching their backs – Webb and Warner. This state is pretty evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats. We’re not quite ready for Sharia law; a socialist economy and spending our tax dollars on their manufactured crisis to fund their liberal give away programs.

Exactly. This is from cnn.com’s homepage. Notice the subtle spin with throwing in the word “despite…”:

The House passed an $819 billion economic stimulus package Wednesday on a party-line vote, despite President Obama’s efforts to achieve bipartisan support for the bill.

45% support, 34% oppose. I read in another article that Rahm Emmanuel was telling the Republicans that there was 80% of the public which favored the “economic stimulus”, so it appears RE’s numbers were somewhat inflated.

There’s no way on Earth they would have done this if they didn’t get a taste of the beating they took in 2008 over the $700 Billion dollar waste Bush pushed. Presuming they haven’t already self-destructed to the point they have no future, we now know how to get them on the right track.

If anything, we should have done this sooner. The Democrat base has been using this for years on their own party, and they get every ridiculous thing they want. Make them fear for their careers, and ignore the whining of Republicans that only seem to think we’re electing them so they can soak up the perks.

They direct him to Zürich’s European Fecal Standards and Measurements Institute, who measure his feces in “Courics” (one Katie Couric is approximately 2.5 lbs [1.13 kg] of excrement.[4][5]) Obama discovers his excrement weighs 8.6 Courics (21.5 lbs.), beating the world record of 7.5 Courics (18.8 lbs.). As Obama is the first American to ever receive the award, the American government holds a ceremony to honor his achievement – however, it is interrupted by a video of Bono, the previous record holder, claiming he has just taken a crap weighing 23.8 lbs. and is therefore still the record holder. His claim is accepted, despite protests that his only proof is an unverified photo.

Well done all Repulican legislators and the 11 Democrats that showed integrity.

When I saw that both of my SCHIP approving Congress critters voted against this disaster in the making you could have knocked be over with a feather. I tried to call both of their offices this morning on my cell phone at work, but no one would pick-up and both of their voice mail boxes were full. So I sent an e-mail loaded with the facts our lovely hostess provided us in the “Stop thief! Kill the bill melt the phones” post.

It appears they are very afraid of losing their phony baloney jobs and/or facing the wrath of some very pissed off constituents should they be stupid enough to enter the state of Idaho again. Let the Obamessiah and the clueless idiots in the Democrat Party (minus our Blue Dog Democrat) own this failure outright.

Republic: a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them.

Democracy: government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.

So, the USA was set up as a Republic that chose Democracy as its form of government.

Simplistic definitions to be sure but, even factored down to its most common denominator, the Constitution, there is no place for a gargantuan bureaucratic governmental machine that thinks it has a right to decide which citizen they will take this or that much of his or her income from so it can then arbitrarily decide which other citizen, or non-citizen (illegal alien within its borders), it will turn around and dole it out too, and keep the rest in its own pockets.

Sound familiar? If I’m not mistaken, it was called the American Revolution. Just replace the gargantuan bureaucratic, Socialistic governmental machine with the British Monarchy’s old King George III and…

    Bam! You got it.

And, I don’t believe, there’s anything in the Constitution that allows for a group of people to vote in a different form of government.

You cannot really believe in America and espouse your Stalinist views, I know you won’t be part of the ruling class (your too dumb), so soon, you will be a serf wondering what happened to your Utopian dream.

All of those commenters who believe this will automatically translate into a 1994-like Republican victory in 2010 are forgetting something very important. After we sandblasted DC twice, once before and again after the November 2006 elections, the RNC engineered having not a Democrat lead the ticket in 2008, but the very architect of the toxic amnesty bill we had just done the sandpapering over. The GOP is STILL being led by the same crowd (Boehner, McConnell, McShamnesty, Graham, etc…) so we have lots of work to do. I don’t share the enthusiasm for Boehner that a few commenters have voiced. I would like to see Michael Pence state a revolt to seize the House leadership away from Boehner as a start of toppling the party’s traitorous leaders. I don’t care about bipartisan left-wing politics. I didn’t join the GOP to be a Democrat. That’s why I left in November 2006 and I see no reason to return.
