    I believe they take the phone call to be a gauge of how their constituents feel. It takes a considerable amount of effort to call a congress person (at least an effort most are not willing to make.) Therefore, if they receive many calls, they figure people are pretty passionate about a bill. From what I hear, emails count for less because they’re easier to do.

    It’s an interesting article, but I take issue with one point. It is true that government spending reduces private spending. However, with deficit spending, government is basically shifting the time that spending takes place. The trillions of dollars for the stimulus package would have been spent in the private sector at some point. The problem is, we want it spent NOW, and the private sector probably will not do that. Basically, we’re giving up some efficiency for the benefit of being able to control time. Recession now, boom in the future or less of a recession now, less of a boom in the future. It’s a tough call as to which is the best choice.

    Cutting taxes and getting government out of the economy is the only sure path to prosperity. Hiistory clearlt shows us that economic crisis and chaos are directly proportional to federal government involvement. The world economy is vibrant, resilient, and very diverse. Forget reasonable regulation, markets break when people like the US Congress manipulate them for political ends.

    Mr. Obama can make himself a real hero if he directs his rabid socialist partisans in Congress to withdraw the bill,cut spending and cut taxes immediately. If he did that, I may actually consider voting for him in four years.

    Well gold and silver are never worth zero and will probably hold thier value better than stocks or even the dollar. You can also literaly bury it if you need to.

    Its a really good backstop against worst case senerios because even if a loaf of bread costs 100,000,000 dollars, silver and gold should remain about the same value vs that loaf of bread.

    Thats the theory anyway and compared to the dems magical thinking, it is good.

    Well my stocks have been “somewhat” hammered. And looking at history and comparing it to where we are now, Its not looking good.
