If the Republicans suddenly become, like, about fifty times smarter than they’ve been lately… this “Stimulus” Bill could do for them what HillaryCare did for the Republicans in 1994.

By slathering the bill with pork and unrelated spending, the Pelosicrats have provided exactly the opening the Republicans needed. They can now support economic stimulus while opposing this specific bill. The more the public learns about it, the less they’re going to like it.

Socky, I made the same point on another thread. This is a perfect opportunity for the Republicans – keep their hands clean by not voting for this garbage and other legislation the dems put forward and people will begin to see the truth and not the lies they perpetuate!

Maybe Republicans are FINALLY learning how to govern. BHO’s strategy is pretty obvious: 1) Do a typical socialist massive spending bill under the guise of “stimulus,” 2) try to scare voters into voting for this socialism, 3) Get Republicans to support it, so you can blame them WHEN (not if) this massive spending causes an economic depression

Let’s hope no Republicans support this bill, letting the public know to blame Democrats for this disaster to our economy.

If I were to consider for one moment that some sort of government spending is needed to ‘stimulate’ the economy this year, why would I want to do all of it in one massive bill?

Since everyone agrees that most of this spending occurs on the ‘back end’ of the time frame of this bill, why do we need to allocate hundreds of billions at the same time?

It would seem that the prudent course would be to push through the basic items, like road and bridge building projects first, like in January, then follow up with additional bills for the other items over the next several weeks.

Can anyone justify not reviewing every single item before simply allocating money? Is there a reason to put more than 50 billion in any bill?

The only justification for attempting to proceed in this ‘One Shot’ manner is to hide the absurd pork contained in this bill.

Control and power come to mind?

Do I understand this right, 5% of the stimulus bill will go to infrastructure upgrades where those jobs are targeted towards minorities of color and sex? Where do the biggest part of bread winners go when they lose their jobs, being white construction workers and skilled technicians. Unemployment line with extended bennies?

“…pay for the Bush tax cuts…” is an oxymoron because revenues went UP. Just as they did when Kennedy and Reagan cut taxes. We are on the right side of the Laffer Curve, i.e. paying too much tax. Reduce taxes, people and businesses keep more of their own money, they spend more on goods and services, which have to be produced,… you get the picture.

I really get tired of these same worn out, discredited arguments. Cutting taxes has been proven to increase revenue. Period.

Exactly when did this happen? It seems to me the huge deficit was racked up by the stimulus and TARP plans that were presented by the Democratic Congress.

Red State – The Bush tax cuts improved the economy and resulted in an increase in federal revenues and increased the percentage of income tax paid by the rich. Tax cuts (to people who actually pay taxes)always result in increased revenue and do not need to be “paid for”. The deficits come from spending even more than the increase – mostly on social welfare programs, not the war.

HA! The hookers don’t need a bailout. They KNOW how to run their business, and tax-free to boot. Congress should be giving themselves condoms. Apparently, there’s so much inbreeding going on there the parties are no longer distinguishable.
