And the award for best performance by a megalomaniac goes to…

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 29, 2009 12:39 PM

Blago giving his closing statement on the floor of the Illinois state legislature at his impeachment trial.

Rambled about John Warner and Liz Taylor, the vaccines, the flu shots, the elderly, the children, and oh, did I mention the flu shots and the vaccines?

Pulled out his “American Dream” card.

Waiting for the Blago-dile tears…

Spends 5 minutes recounting the life of a working mom to show his blue-collar compassion. Waiting for him to start singing “She Works Hard for the Money.”

Oh, crikey: “It ain’t about me. It ain’t about me.”

I’m convinced. Dude is innocent. He did so much for the children. But he still has so much to give.

Also, he seemed to rely heavily on the very convincing argument that if you impeach one corrupt governor, other states may be emboldened to impeach their corrupt governors.

    And we can’t have that.

This whole Blago run for the media tour has ONE intention.
To keep his butt out of jail.

    It’s a warning to Obama.
It’s a long winded threat to Obama and Rahm and company to come to his rescue OR ELSE… he WILL tell all.
Why do you think he keeps bringing up Jarrett, Rahm-bo, Jesse Jackson Jr., etc. so loudly and on national TV?
They’re all as guilty as Blago is, but no one wants to testify and none of them will turn on Obama.

This is Blago’s get or ‘stay out of jail free’ play….and it will probably work.

Essentially that’s what he did. He was dropping names of people he felt were also guilty. He only implied that the Illinois senators were on his list, but that did seem to be the theme of his message.

He also seemed to be listing the individuals he’ll attempt to call for the criminal case, including President Obama and Rahm Emmanuel.

I was looking to see if any of the senators were eating popcorn.

Interesting how Blago decided to show up and “speak on his own behalf” after he learned from Glenn Beck that Obama added language in the stimulus package to deny Illinois any money if they kept Blago as Governor. To me it was his itty bitty attempt to get back at Obama and Emmanuel. I wish they’d all be thrown out.

I don’t know who suprises me most, Blago or Obama for putting such small petty language into such an important piece of legislation. Jeeze, it’s going to be a long 4 years.

I will miss him when he is gone. I think the Right should back this guy up, not push for his dismissal. It is so much fun to watch the Libs attack each other (and what a rare phenomenon that is). To be realistic here, Blago has done NOTHING wrong in Far-Lefgt Lib world, especially in Chicago. Does anyone really think that the next Gov. of Il. is going to be more saintly? He, more than likely, has pissed of the “Annointed One” and is being rail-roaded out of there. Truly a shame. He is pure entertainment and it is wonderful to see the Democrats shake in their boots a bit over this problem (and they ARE shaking in their boots which is evident by their desire to so quickly rid them of this one time insider). I believe one of the reasons Blago has been on the media circuit so much in the last couple of weeks is to show that he is not some certifiably crazy and possibly depressed man (something the media started to premote when this scandal first hit) so that if he ends up dead it won’t seem like suicide (an accident, maybe, but suicide, no). Remember, he is coming from Chicago.
