Obama celebrates spending binge with cocktails and wagyu steak

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 29, 2009 06:28 AM

Can the Obama administration be anymore tone deaf? After pushing his $1.1 trillion Generational Theft Act of 2009 through the House last night, the White House apparently decided to throw itself a swank cocktail party. According to ABC’s Jake Tapper, the menu included alcoholic beverages (vodka martinis are an Obama favorite, reportedly) and wagyu steak.

Yeah, “wagyu steak.” $100 per serving delicacy. I had to look it up, too.

On the heels of the most expensive inaugural celebration in American history and passage of a trillion-dollar spending binge that will saddle future generations with unprecedented debt, perhaps President Obama might consider cutting back on such indulgences.

Or is the White House exempt from “shared sacrifice,” Mr. President?

“New era of responsibility?”

Not so much.

Update: Time to sacrifice a few thermostat degrees and buy a couple of cardigans.

I saw that about ‘Bambi’s outrage at Wall Street before I read this thread. Oh my, you can bet no news coverage will surface about our little dining pleasure last night though at the White House. Even if it does, it’ll only serve to bolster those that voted for him that a “poor little guy, born to a single mother (Michelle O’s description, not mine) makes good and they’re so proud he has a chance at the good life.

The only taste Barak or Michelle O has is in their mouth, and both are fiddling while Rome burns.

    Dear member,
Did you see how many Republicans voted for President Obama’s stimulus package in the House yesterday?

None. Seriously, not a single one.

Americans voted overwhelmingly for change in November. We voted for an end to the partisan bickering and political games that are destroying our politics. And President Obama bent over backwards to get House Republicans to craft a bipartisan bill, to no avail.

As the bill moves to the Senate, we need bipartisan support, or the stimulus won’t pass. Senate Republicans need to know they have a clear choice: support a stimulus package that will put millions of Americans back to work, or continue to play the games that got us into this mess.

We’ve put together a powerful new ad to pressure the key senators. Can you chip in $25 to get it on the air immediately?

President Obama spent hours meeting with Republican leaders personally. He made painful compromises to win them over.
But Republicans refused to play ball. They’re insisting on a plan that doesn’t invest a cent in green jobs or health care or education. They just want more tax cuts for the rich and for corporations, even though that’s part of what got us into this mess.

GOP leaders will get their way—unless we can convince a few Republican senators who are on the fence.

Can you contribute $25 to our new ad to pressure swing-vote Republican senators?

These are the senators they are targeting to pressure them into voting for this disaster:

    Susan Collins (202) 228-5818
    senator@collins.senate.gov

    Olympia Snowe (202) 224-5344
    senator@snowe.senate.gov

    Judd Gregg (202) 224-3324
    senator@Gregg.senate.gov

    Lisa Murkowski (202) 224-6665
    senator@Murkowski.senate.gov

    Chuck Grassley (202) 224-3744
    senator@Grassley.senate.gov

Didn’t all of you see this coming? Like standing on a beach and having the water just wisk away with the tide and wonder why on earth there is a sunami headed our way.
This is NOTHING like we have ever seen before in this country. This is COMMUNISM. Disguised as Socialism (because, hey, doesn’t socialism sound much nicer?). We are RIPE for this. The Left has been preparing for years; indoctrinating our students, currupting the media (afterall, they are really just a branch of the campaign at this point), infultrating the judicial system.
We are in BIG trouble. At least the Republicans in the House have started to wake up to this. Took them long enough. I cannot figure out for the life of me why ANYONE thought that Obama and hie ilk were going to be governing anywhere near the center….not even the center of the Left. C’mon people, this guy couldn’t wait to get sworn in….now HE is in charge. We are DOOMED if the masses don’t wake up. And with this devoted media we are stuck with, that is asking quite a lot.

In this world of the Al Gore’s internet, a rough economy, carbon coming out of are ears, and not enough food to feed our country’s poor Team Obama dares to celebrate like this?

What kind of Carbon Footprint was made on Inaugeration Day? You would have thought the One, the Only , the Master of the Internet campaign could have told his minions to NOT come to D.C. but instead celebrate locally to save the planet, money, and resources. They could have used giant LCD screens and loudspeakers and still had a good time.

Of course they can destroy the earth and ignore the poor because they always get a pass.

Exactly what “painful compromises” did Der Fuhrer make? Could someone please tell me what compromises ANYONE on the Left have made in the last 8 years?

The resistance that is being given to thwart the Socialist takeover of the Government is not even on the map compared to the resistance that was shown towards President Bush, and these little whiney, crybabies can’t hack it. Like a spoiled little child, when they cannot have their way, they stomp their little feet, hold their breath and have a little temper-tantrum.

The spoiled brats that are the vast majority of the Baby-Boomer Generation have not changed since they sat in front of their Zeniths watching “Howdy Doody”. The only difference is that in a few years they will still be throwing temper-tantrums, but their diapers will now be bio-degradable and disposable.

Osama Obama is a danger to our nation. Goal Number One of the Republicans in Congress must be to do all they legally can to de-fang him before he gets his brand of communism in place.

All the steak talk has made me so hungry, I am going to grill tonight.

Folks, I have a question, I don’t know much about it, is it still possible to remove pork from this stimulus bill?

If we give enough publicity to useless pork items that are not going to stimulate the economy there is a possibility that Obama administration will remove those from the final bill. This is new administration and they have populas approach. They like to keep their popularity ratings intact. Seems like they budge under pressure; they removed that contraception thing from the bill. Today Obama was after that wallstreet bonus. So I am just hopefull if republicans can make a print on the final bill.

Makes you wish you could pick up a pair of them at the local grocery. They would market themselves. All the grocer would need do is stick them next to the arugula and advertise it as a “Common Man’s Dinner…(Just like Obama has).

I have a question…did anyone see or remember hearing about Der Führer going on the obligatory hunting trip during the campaign to prove how macho and manly and “down with the common folk” he is? I don’t remember seeing or hearing anything about it other than people commenting on whether or not he would even know which end of the rifle/shotgun to hold etc.

I figure he wouldn’t stoop so low as to demean himself by having to traipse around in the woods and mud. He might get his L.L. Bean ensemble messy, making his house keeper upset about having to pre-treat his clothes. That, and getting mud on his donated Lugz. That wouldn’t fit his idiom.

However, I would personally prefer a nice venison or elk steak over a $100 piece of cow any day. Now THAT has my mouth watering.
