Obama’s thermostat setting: “He likes it warm;” Prediction: Mrs. Obama will shop for cardigans today

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 29, 2009 11:10 AM

Looks like another case of more “shared sacrifice” for thee, but not for He.

After lecturing us all to turn down our thermostats to “72 degrees at all times” on the campaign trail, The One moves into the White House and promptly cranks up the heat to tropical temperatures! (Hat tip – Ed Morrissey)

Ain’t that special:

The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

And then he has the nerve to lecture East Coasters to toughen up over the winter weather?

Love the smell of orchids heavy with the scent of eco-hypocrisy…

Wonder what the temp was at the cocktail party last night?

***

It’s hard to crusade for “green” this and “green” that with the thermostat at 77 degrees, don’t you think. I predict Mrs. Obama will be shopping ASAP for some Jimmy Carter-style cardigans to rectify Obama’s eco-hypocrisy. Copy it well, Michelle:

I guess she better check if her purchases are okay with the black designers association first, though.

68 when we’re home – 60 at night. And that’s here in MA. It was 14 degrees outside when I left for work this morning.
We wear sweaters, warm socks and have extra blankets on the beds. (And a throw on the sofa for cozy TV watching).
The gas bill was still $450 last month. So how much is it costing the US tax payer to “grow orchids in the Oval Office.”?

I keep my temp at 68 all the time even though it kills my osteoarthritis in my back, knees, and shoulder…nice to know dear leader is toasty and warm while millions of Americans don’t have the luxury of spending that kind of money on silly things like heat for their homes and keep have to keep their thermostats lower. Doesn’t it just make you fell all warm and fuzzy….NOT

I believe he would say, “I won, so I get to do what I want.” I’d bet my mortgage he said something to that effect and is smoking in the Oval Office, or wherever he pleases.

After all, he doesn’t plan on leaving so it’s not like the odor will be a problem for the next POTUS.
