Senate S-CHIP roll call vote: 9 B.O. Republicans vote for raising taxes in a recession
I don’t call them squishy, bend-over Barack Obama Republicans for nothing. Here’s the roll call vote on the massive S-CHIP expansion, funded with a huge tobacco tax increase that will hit the working poor the hardest in hard times. Nine Republican Senators joined the Democrats to shove the universal health care Trojan Horse through.

The GOP Senators voting YES to raising taxes in a recession in order to subsidize not-poor families and not-children “children” and non-citizens who don’t have to prove their citizenship:
Alexander (R-TN)
Collins (R-ME)
Corker (R-TN) ***Note: He’s leading the Gang of 14 charge on the Generational Theft Act in the Senate***
Hutchison (R-TX)
Lugar (R-IN)
Martinez (R-FL)
Murkowski (R-AK)
Snowe (R-ME)
Specter (R-PA)
Keep an eye on them during the upcoming stimulus battle. And turn up the heat.

I’m ignorant in this regard, but can’t the Republican Party strip these folks of the “R” after their names? That would certainly send a message.
Every single one of these RINOs should be tarred and feathered.
They are despicable, weak, and self-serving.
Who’s paying them to vote this way and how do we get them the hell out of the party?
Huh, what a surprise, Hutchison (RINO-TX) is on the list.
9 Repubs who need to be replaced in future primaries with real conservatives…
I don’t know if this has been put forward before, but my new name for these BO republicans is ‘quislings.’ From World War Z (By Max Brooks):
First Thing I thought of, but I never bothered typing it in before.
The failure of the RNC and Senate leadership to expel these snivelling weasels, or even to ostracize them and publicly condemn their stupidity and disloyalty, is exactly why I’m not a Republican today. Testicular deficiency is epidemic in the party, and it starts at the top.
Thanks for voting to rape my pocketbook again, scumbags!
Looks like old Mitch McConnell isn’t the only Senate republican who could use a set of these.
THANK YOU MICHELLE
I just did a quick copy and past to my Republican black list file for reference in the next election. I suggest everyone do the same. We have a lot of rebuilding to do.
And Specter wants young people like me to help him win reelection in 2010…what’s that old saying? Hmm…oh yea, thanks, but no thanks. I give up. I can’t hold my nose and vote for this guy. Even if it means voting third party. It’ll be in vain, if at least on principle.
If we couldn’t replace them after the cr*p sandwich vote, they’re not going anywhere.
Spend five minutes and watch this.
Mel Martinez is worthless. Remember when he was actually head of the GOP and tried to shove amnesty down our throats.
He needs to go ASAP.
I guess that explains this.
I forgot to add, the dumbest part of the plan is raising taxes on a commodity they are actively trying to prevent people from using. So what will they tax when the revenue stream dries up when people quit smoking? Toilet paper? Whoops, I shouldn’t give them any ideas.
I do believe I have more contempt for these quislings than I do for liberals.
All putting more folks into Medicaid programs (which all SCHIP really is) will do is make it harder for the really needy to get care as they have to stand in ever increasing lines to get rationed government care.
Do a little homework — ask your local clinics about their Medicaid policies and you’ll typically get something like “don’t take new Mediciad patients”, “only see a couple a week”, “it costs more to provide care than we get paid”, etc, etc.
So the reality to adding more folks to SCHIP is those with insurance can look to quicker appointments while those on SCHIP and Medicaid wait in the wings…
The real solution to this mess revolves around making unreimbursed charity care tax deductible. You’ll have every clinic falling over themselves to provide a good chunk of their care as charity care — with or without Medicaid or SCHIP red tape.
Open season on RINO’s. Get them out of our party now. Even if a DemocRAT replaces them we can run a conservative and win later.
Once again a proud moment for the Great State of Idaho.
Its two congressmen voted against the stimulus.
Its two senators voted against the SCHIP.
Don’t move up here unless you have a brain. You’re not needed. We’re just fine and may consider seceding if this crap keeps up.
We need a way to vote within the RNC to BANNISH SUCH PEOPLE FROM THE PARTY! Anyone in favor of this horse crap bill is NOT a republican – of that I’m certain. Ban em!
.. or least send each one some sort of offical letter of record that they’ve been desiginated persona non grata.
YES! And give doctors some sort of tort reform on top of that. My father ~used to~ serve at a free clinic back in the 60′s and 70′s up until health insurance became more widespread and .. malpractice insurance premiums started skyrocketing.
Most doctors DO want to do charitable work but liberal policies erected walls against it.
Hutchison, who wants to be governor my my great state of Texas, has already lost my vote.
Such a shame we will not have a repeat of the fantastic House Republican unity in opposing the “stimulus” package. At least several of these despicable Senate RINOs will stab the rest of the Republicans in the back.
No surprise here. Eastern PA liberal.
I hope that Pat Toomey decides to challenge Specter again. I will support Toomey again.
The last election prved it was very easy to ,make idiot voters out of ihn orant poeple by promising them free stuff.
Yes, but what will you do when the printing presses break?
If we are waging a campaign to send McConnell a pair, why not also show our displeasure to these 9 Democrats by sending them a brain.
I like the removal of trademark idea, also. I would vote most heartedly to disallow these nine from using the names Republican and GOP, the “R” symbol, and the logos associated with the party.
Lugar is a main reason I won’t vote a straight Republican ticket. I. Will. Not. Vote for that man.
Well, that and I just like filling in all the individual bubbles.
I wish we could get rid of him. Him and Bayh. But I don’t recall either of them having any competition. They’ve been there so long, it’s like no one even bothers to try.
Oh, BIG SURPRISE… my esteemed senators (snowe and collins) are on the list…
After calling their offices twenty or thirty times in the last 2 months, I’m starting to think my words fall on deaf ears.
Color me shocked! Georgie Porgie Voinovich (RINO-OH) voted against this bill. Thank God he’s retiring in 2010.
Have Snowe and Spector or Lugar EVER voted NO on a Democrat Sponsored Bill? I truly wonder what their record is concerning percentage of votes along party lines?
(UH…I mean Republican Party, not Democrat btw.)
Has anyone noticed that the Louisiana Senator, David Vitter (R) has never voted any other way than hardcore conservative?
Just raising awareness that the guy is frickin’ awesome, and I’m not just saying that because he’s my Senator.
Wow, Kay Bailey really, really doesn’t want to be Governor of TX, does she?
Now Ms. Hutchinson, here you were trying to paint yourself in your new conservative clothes in prep for your intended run for TX Governor. And you couldn’t help yourself, couldn’t say no to socialized medicine, the flagship of liberal (socialist) dems. Tisk Tisk Tisk. No, we won’t forget, sorry about that.
Alexander (R-TN)
Lugar (R-IN)
Specter (R-PA)
These three pretenders were contenders seeking the presidetial throne this last time around, right? Time to email the RNC and ask them if this is the kind of party leadership they really want.
Hutchison (R-TX)
I am very surprised by this one – I thought she had more sense.
Martinez (R-FL) He’s my lame-duck RINO – can’t wait for is a$$ to leave
Murkowski (R-AK)
Guess Sarah’s stories about fighting her own party have additional merit with this guys vote
Snowe (R-ME) Name truncated – should be Snowejob.
Not a big surprise as I don’t think the rareany real republicans North of Connecticut anyway.
I’m a Texas resident and I vote. While I have agreed with (and voted for) Kay Bailey Hutchison in the past, this time she totally blew it. And I intend to let her know. Contact info:
Office of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison
284 RUSSELL SENATE OFFICE BUILDING
WASHINGTON DC 20510
If you live in Texas, please write Senator Hutchison and let her know as well
My loser, Mr. Mel Martinez, already knows he can’t win again for voting for the bailout, so he’s hanging it up. I will email him and tell him he is such a loser politician!
Making my life miserable one tax hike at a time!
It’s really getting old, year after year every crappy Bill from he!! has a “yea” vote from our Senators in Ca.
I dream of the day when we have better representation in this state. You look at the condition were in here and it makes you ill.
Dumb Voters will give Floriduh a run for their money.
Exactly what needs to be done. It is best to contribute directly to Conservatives challenging these RINOs and NOT the National Republican Senatorial Committee-the NRSC has been supporting RINOs all too long.
As far as the Party stripping these people-well that is not how it works. It is up to the voters in those states, with what ever help we can give a conservative challenger, to boot the wimps.
There were 32 Nay votes- no (D) behind the name. Even McCain voted Right for once.
Does anyone here recall the pleasurable image of a man sitting in a comfortable chair, reading a good book, next to a blazing fire and smoking a Meerschaum pipe? That is me, and I detest the governments attempt to tax some of those simple joys of my life.
The government may start taxing that wood in my fireplace using a carbon credit law.
Hey Familyman, I heard this morning a city is trying to keep you from lighting up in your own home, just caught the tail end so no link for ya. Bastardos!!!
AJ. If that ever happens, I know that all is lost.
What city?
Will the government start taxing beef because of the excessive methane cattle produce?
GEEES!
Dunno, sorry for that. I think it was on Fox & Friends.
If tobacco is so evil, why don’t the do-gooders make it illegal?
The Govenator is going to have taxes on Golf, here in the valley of 110 Golf Courses people aren’t pleased.
You just you all these northern transplants are going to put a Dem in his seat. Do you you think we could encourage Heath Schuler to move down here?

They’ll tax the fireplace, too. And the chair. And the good book may land you in jail if it’s not pre-approved.
They already have a resort tax down here that’s double tax if they do golf. isn’t that illegal? tax , tax, tax the Dem way, how do these people get elected???? oh wait…
Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevermind.
Just a thought
Have any of you have ever been out in the wilderness, by yourself, for a few days, on your own. If you have. you’ll remember what real FREEDOM is. There is exhilaration and joy but there is also fear. It occurs to me that the left wants the joys of freedom, but will not accept the fears. I would guess that is what separates us from them.
Our lone senator from Minnesota has once again proven her skill for money-grabbing by voting to expand the SCHIP program. In Minnesota we cover almost all of the needy kids with MinnesotaCare so the state gives 92% of SCHIP funds to ADULTS. 92%!!! Our state does not need SCHIP but Klobuchar is like Mr. Creosole in the Meaning of Life: “I’ll take the whole lot!”.
Thay, and a brain that functions properly.
Why I am not surprised that Hutchison (TX) voted for this? She will never get my vote for anything. She needs to go back to her cheerleading days.
Wow. I’ve been pounding Corker and Alexander. Shows how much clout I have.
I didn’t really want to retire anyway. I guess I’ll die behind the plow.
If Hutchison thinks this is the way to get my vote when she runs for governor, she’s got another think coming.
I only live part-time in TX but claim it as my official state of residency, meaning I vote in TX.
I’ve pounded Kay Bailey over other issues and this just puts the icing on the cake.
Texans – send this thread via a link to every person you know in the state, and encourage them to check back often for updates from MM. No one knows what this boondoggle will eventually cost this country…& when they’ve driven what’s left of the smokers to quit, there is going to be a new target group to help fund it. I used to believe it would be some kind of “fat” tax, but it could be anything. I’m also guessing 2009 will also see an increase in alcohol tax.
And Hutchinson is thinking of running for Governor in Texas…she failed me on the immigration fight and she is failing me now. I did not vote for her last time for the Senat and she certainly won’t get my vote for Governor. Don’t like Perry much either on the immigration issue but right now he’s the best of the worst. And I’ve tried to turn up the heat on her, she doesn’t care, I get back B.S. form letters saying how great her ideas are…great if you are RINO I guess.
Not a Republican in the bunch.
I’ve emailed Snowe and Collins numerous times in the past few days, not that it does any good. Just finished another email in regard to the S-CHIP vote. Collins, at least, used to do well thinking of Maine (esp. with her support of the shipyards, etc.) but that seems to have fallen by the wayside as she becomes more and more liberal.
Here in Orygun we had our RINO voted out of office in Nov. we now have a solid blue devil, of course I’d much rather have a solid conservative Repub sitting in Wash. representing me. That being said, I no longer have to try and pull the rest of my hair out after these Senatorial votes, I know my Senators are not going to vote for America, with the RINO, I would just turn around and wait the stabbing. Don’t miss hin in the least. Oh, that was Senator G. Smith, “the reacher.”
I think you’re saying transplants from other states moving to Florida are going to put a Dem in Mel’s Martinez’ seat, right?
Not necessarily so – we already have a PITA Dem in the other Senate seat (Bill Nelson) who acts as a warning to us Floridians about putting any Dem in a senate seat.
Not one Democrat in the Senate seems to understand economics…is it any wonder the country’s economy is taking such a hit?
I need to make less money.
GEEES!
Appeasement always works so well.
Republicans, rejoicing in their new liberal overlords, French collaborators en Vichy, stamp and all.
I just mailed my letter to Kay Bailey. Letters, being a physical response from voters get more attention. Especially LOTS of them.
Here is the address again:
Office of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison
284 RUSSELL SENATE OFFICE BUILDING
WASHINGTON DC 20510
Texas voters — be respectful but clearly let her know that her run for governorship is officially TOAST.
