“Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter. ”

Who said it? Tom Daschle.
Who cares about Daschle’s tax-cheating hypocrisy?
Well, he’s “apologized.” So all can be forgiven now. Right?
Thomas A. Daschle, fighting to defend his nomination to be secretary of health and human services, released a letter early today apologizing to the top lawmakers on the Senate Finance Committee for mistakes on his personal income tax returns that resulted in $146,000 in back payments.
“I am deeply embarrassed and disappointed by the errors that required me to amend my tax returns,” he wrote to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa). “I apologize for the errors and profoundly regret that you have had to devote time to them.”
Well, hey, it worked for Geithner and it looks like it’s going to work for Holder. Screw up, say sorry, move up.
Ask the Bend Over Republicans who pooh-poohed Tim Geithner’s tax goofs where they will stand:
Corker (R-TN)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
Ensign (R-NV)
Graham (R-SC)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hatch (R-UT)
Shelby (R-AL)
Snowe (R-ME)
Voinovich (R-OH)
202-224-3121.

Geithner made “goofs.” Daschle just had a “glitch.”

Obama is the new bi-racial messiah, who’s gonna heal us all! hallelujah!! so whatever he wants to do is OK, because he CARES..and you don’t.
this isn’t the country I grew up in…and its going to get much much worse….
Its okay, he is a democrat. The laws don’t apply to them.
btw: do I get a prize for being the first post??
Yes, A big shinny medal that says “I AM NUMBER ONE!!!”
if its GOLD that would be great…I have plenty of lead…
Why the hell are these people not getting thrown in jail like you or I would?
Now Daschle! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now Daschle away! Daschle away! Daschle away all!”
When government grows to behemoth levels as is the case now in the USA, even minor corruption creates major concerns. Daschle now joins the increasingly corrupt obama administration.
So NOW he has a problem with people who don’t pay their taxes!!!
Anybody look into Pelosi’s tax situation lately?
How about Reid?
OK. He apologized. That makes it all better. Good thing he’s not a Republican though. Any comments, Katie?
With every new Obama appointment the crazy lunatic conspiracy theorists, survivalists and militias look less and less crazy or lunatic.
At this point, it is getting hard to swallow the absolute garbage coming out of Washington, DC from the Dems and the GOP.
I have said it before but there has already been a revolution and the Federal Government has overthrown the constitution. We are now serfs and stuff like this just demonstrates the fact of our serfdom.
It is surreal to be living through the death spiral of the United States. I guess I was naive, but I never thought this would happen–at least in my life time.
How much in penalties did Daschle pay?…or did he???
Pay taxes?
To thee, to thee, but not for me.
I have been advocating a boycott on Tax paying for a while now…someone here replied…”YOU FIRST”,
Well, who knew that the democrats would finally do something I agree with wholeheartedly!! The new push is headed by Rangel, Geitner, and Daschle…..
Now that is a aparty I can stand behind….
PS Laura Ingraham said today we should all send a note to the IRS on April 15th saying…”I want the Daschle plan thank you!”
If you ask me the first to boycott should be Californians as Arnold sends IOU’s out to people instead of their refunds!!!
This government is now a complete JOKE!!!
“In light of the events that I have brought upon myself, I regretfully must withdraw my nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services.”
That would have shown some class.
…Nah! The other guy, the one in charge of managing the nation’s finances, got away with it, why shouldn’t he?
Who knew Mrs. Helsmley’s words would be so revered among Democrats. Apparently Daschle and Geithner are her biggest fans!
I wish I had a Republican Senator to write to and raise hell. My beloved Senators are so liberal blue they’re almost black. All you Republicans and Conservatives that stayed home in the last two elections and turned the leadership and majority over to the liberals. I want to take this opportunity to thank you. Elections have consequences.
The Real Front On the Next American Civil War: Citizens NOT paying their taxes in protest.
Why do I have this feeling that in the very near future we will be seeing a reemergence of Obama’s campaign slogan “this is not the (insert name) I knew”?
Just wonderin….what do the employees of the IRS/Dept. of the Treasury think about having Geithner as their boss? I would think it would be a demoralizer for some of em….
Ha!! How much you wanna bet that there are some worried people in DC right now? “Hmmm… do I go back and amend quietly before anyone finds out, or do I just sit tight and hope and pray that nobody digs too deeply?”
So which of Obama’s nominees hasn’t had a scandal?
After all the new Obama appointees being in tax trouble and corruption, and just getting slapped on the wrist being ok. We the people should file a discrimination lawsuit against the IRS.
“I am deeply embarrassed and disappointed
by the errors that required me to amend my tax returnsby the fact that I got caught,” he wrote to Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa). “I apologize for the errors and profoundly regret that you have had to devote time to themThis would have all been easier had you just let me write Rangle Rule on my tax returns.”***
Tom Daschle–another dishonest politician. Don’t do as I do–do as I say.
***
Didn’t Leona Helmsley (aka the QUEEN OF MEAN) finally get it socked to her by the IRS? I seem to remember her doing some jail time and losing a lot of dinero.
***
I’m not so sure IRS workers will feel bad about having a crook leading their department. Pancho Villa’s soldiers liked his style when he robbed rich people during the 1910 Mexican Revolution. Daschle will fit in pretty well!

I think anyone who has done business within the confines of Washington D.C. for the last 10 years and made over $125,000 should be audited.
I’ll raise private money to defray the costs to the IRS.
Based on Geithner, Rangel, Daschle, etc. if percentage wise so many appointees have “tax trouble” once can extrapolate just how many more there are out there.
I would imagine any employee of the IRS/Treasury Dept. who publicly gripes about Geithner being a tax cheat would be looking for a new job. Too bad, I’d love it if some stepped forward……I dream of justice even in its smallest form…
But only if they are not Democrat politicans.
Probably about the same way the military feel about having Obama as CIC.

Good point and how sad…
Back in 1997 I was told by the IRS that I would have my wages garnished and a lien placed on my house if I were to fail to pay taxes owed by a mistake on my part. I had to pay immediately. The amount? 231 dollars. If anyone thinks for one moment I will ever let these slimeballs off the hook, fuggettaboutit. They are both inept fools who have defrauded taxpayers. Iwould understand if the amount was small like mine was…. but let’s be honest… this is a fraud perpetrated on us by a Democraptic congress and cowardly RINOs…. how’s that moderation working for ya… McCainites?
Is someone in the RNC saving this stuff? I mean, after all the crap-o-la we had to swallow about the ethics of the GOP in 2006, one can only HOPE we’ll be able to CHANGE the makeup of the Congress in 2010 and White House in 2012…
Once again, “Good for thee, but not for me!”
The thing that kills me is, BHO has now chosen TWO men with tax problems for his administration. And to think, people were grousing about McCain not vetting Sarah Palin!
Amen.
During Clinton, “sex with that woman” became a private matter, lying about it also was “understandable”. Our society is sinking. We continue to allow Sandy Berger and all the other filthy politicians “serve”
our Countrytheir own interests. I see Jordan (protector of the Monica scandal)is back in the limelight being nominated as a future president by the Alfafa dinner.Allowing one found out tax cheat in the cabinet just opened the doors. There’s no doubt in my mind that most of Congress are tax cheats.
Mrs Nail and I have been doing battle with the IRS for two years over THEIR mistake on our taxes. This happened to me once before and I won then, I plan to win again.
Whatever the case, we now have no fewer than three “Get Out of Jail Free” cards. They have three different faces on them: Daschle, Rangel and Geithner.
Problem is, there is not a (D) after my name, so I will likely get nailed to the wall while these DemoCRAPS go free as a bird.
Just venting!
And you think that McCain would have advocated for smaller government? He would have advocated for free markets?
It seems to me that you’ve also thrown gas on a fire with your first statement – your two sentators are deep blue. Why is that? Is it because no CONSERVATIVE candidate actually was available?
(BTW – I did go pull the lever for Sarah)
I don’t understand this. What kind of boss would hire people like this to work for his company? Obama is hiring people to help run this country who are crooks and tax cheats. Why???? Why no uproar from the press? Isn’t the press suppose to be our watchdogs? Isn’t that why they receive special treatment – so they can look out for us?
I sent Obama an email yesterday telling him that he insulted every military and civilian person that has had anything to do with Iraq. He especially insulted all of those who have paid the ultimate price to give the Iraq people the right to vote. In his official statement on the Iraqi vote Saturday night he thanked everyone responsible EXCEPT the United States Military. He even thanked the United Nations. Would someone please tell me what the heck the UN did to help the Iraqi people except look the other way during Saddams reign and then pull out when the going got tough a couple of years ago.
No matter what you think of the war, we are there now and it is YOUR country that is there. We should have learned from Vietnam that thousands of people get killed because politicians force us to pull out too early and the press (who in the case of Iraq) flat out lied or refuse to give the American public a balanced picture of what is really going on over there.
But then, we do have a Commander-in-Chief who would require a waiver to get in the military because of his drug using days.
If the “Most Ethical Congress” lived up to its name, they would enact legislation that required each one of them to have their personal taxes (their spouses too) audited each year on April 16th by an independant auditor. If Obama’s vetting team found these “oversights” who knows what an acutal auditing firm would find. I’m surprised these “oversights” ever made it to the press at all.
They would also place all their personal investments in blind trusts to eliminate any conflict of interest (big wind Pelosi comes to mind.)
Finally they would enact term limits so these career
Politicianscriminals wouldn’t be able to screw this country up any longer.fantasy mode off/
I sympathize with you…
funniest “their” error though has to be with my dad. He had two bank accounts at the same bank.
INTEREST ACCOUNT XX
INTEREST ACCOUNT YY
TOTAL ZZ
And the IRS wanted to know why he didn’t declare the interest on his account numbered TOTAL
That too over a year to straighten out.
AP news is reporting that McCain is saying “Obama must seriously negotiate with GOP on stimulus”.
Senator McCain: You don’t negotiate being robbed.
We had a neighbor who once got a refund of exactly 1 cent. He never cashed the check because he wanted to show how stupid the government was — it cost 25 cents to mail the check in the first place!
Watching the Super Bowl last night I was waiting for an H & R Block commercial explaining running pictures of Daschel & Gietner & Rangle, explaining how H & R Block could have saved them a lot of worries (but tossed in a comment about having nothing to do with their promotions)
and on a personal note, this year I’m gonna cheat on my taxes.
Just to see how it feels.
That seems to be the “Democratic” way to pay your taxes these days – “cheat like hell”.
Irritating to say the least. When our company was small and the three partners did everything we still had to pay big bucks to make sure level after level of taxes were paid.
When we got bigger we could hire a women who knew how to do that (PeachTree Accounting)and still had to pay an outside accountant to cover our selves.
Unlike Senator Daschle we did useful things, hired people and provided goods and services while Senator Daschle was a mere tick feeding off the blood of the useful. But Senator Daschle and Geithner are important people so the rules do not apply–as in walking away from a fatal accident and lying about it. Important.
It’s not even about “getting thrown in jail.” When you are “late” on your taxes, the penalties start accruing from that very minute–and FAST. The fact that it’s been years since his taxes were fraudulently filed and his outstanding is so low gets me wondering.
At the end of the day, Daschle is a crook. He was voted out for being crooked, and now, in a Dem White House, the crook is being offered a job, much like many other Clintonite Crooks.
“Hey man, we’re gettin’ the band back together.”
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. These people are stupid.
Again, Daschle is “too big (or too important, take your pick of liberal platitudes) to fail”.
Many of us have stories about dealing with the IRS. How Rangel, Daschle and Geithner got away with “mistakes” that dwarf anything I have ever experienced can only be described as criminal on their part and on the part of the IRS.
If the IRS instantly hits me up for taxes, pentalies and interest within days of my electronic filing over the spelling of my daughter’s name yet they can overlook hundreds of thousands of income from these clowns it can only be described as corruption on both parts.
The IRS enforces the law against “the little people” and refuses to enforce it against the oligarchs. And the oligarchs know it and skirt the law. We have changed from “Lex Rex” to “Rex Lex” in the last few years.
CORRUPTION! Plain and simple. My constitution has been stolen. I want it back.
Joke of the day:
How do you get a democrat to pay his taxes?
Have Obama appoint him to a new job in his administration!!
sorry..
Have Obama
appointnominate himtofor a new job in his administration!!All federal government employees should have tax audits every 4 years period!!
But then again look who the head of the IRS is. He is such a gooooood role model. That’s who I want my kids looking up to. Don’t you?
How do you get a democrat to pay his taxes?
Take them to the Plasma bank and start draining? The IRS has long been associated with vampires, leeches, ticks and other blood suckers-go for it BIG.
We could call it Project Turnip.
Don’t forget “sloppy mistake”.
Since paying taxes is patriotic why don’t Democrats just sign over the paychecks to the IRS instead of casing them?
I mean Dems love America so much wouldn’t it just make sense to cut out the middleman and give their income directly to the government?
Plus, it would help prevent so many mistakes on those nasty little IRS forms that are obviously too confusing for Federal employees to fill out anyway.
It is worth a thought. I’ll send an email to Secretary Geithner and see what he thinks.
WarEagle: Watch out, you will likely get audited!
Not a commercial that you would find on the National Barack Channel.
And, since we’re talking about it, where’s the rage and indignation at NBC for pocketing a record profit with their commercial time, when there are “real families” that they could have sponsered in place of the self-serving interest of generating business?
Oh, don’t worry about me. I’ll sign your name!
WarEagle: Only an ACORN-activist would do such a dastardly deed!
But, I will get out of it by taking the “Clinton 5th” with tear in my eye and a sorrowful look on my face — “Mr. Senator, I can honestly say I have no recollection of having ever sent such an e-mail.”
Instead of raising taxes, let’s just have Obama’s vetting team go through Congress members’ tax returns from the last 10 years. They might be able to pay for that stimulus bill after all.
But I have it on good authority that paying your taxes is voluntary.
Ok, so I’m putting words in the guy’s mouth.
You make a very good point about Monica. After all, this tax problem is a personal problem and will in no way affect his job at HHS. Of course, I’m being sarcastic.
