Dodd to refinance sweetheart mortgages

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 2, 2009 11:58 AM

Just flashed over the AP wire: Unscrupulous borrower Chris Dodd says he will refinance his sweetheart mortgages that are the subject of an ethics probe.

All he has to do is say “sorry” and and everything will be forgiven.

Maybe Obama should make him HUD Secretary now!

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Sen. Christopher Dodd says he will refinance 2 mortgages that are subject of an ethics probe.

Why is it that Democrats who blatantly refused to pay taxes until they’ve been caught (Rangel, Geithner, Daschle) and those who know they’ve done wrong (Dodd & his refinancing) only have to shrug their shoulders and say, “Oops. My bad. I really didn’t know. It was an honest mistake. Really!”…they always get away with it…and the damn GOP lets them. If the situation were the reverse, there would be blood in the water and the left would be crying holy hell about corruption, ethics, honesty, etc. etc.

The GOP has no balls and they need to get those tired old socialites like McConnell and McCain out of office and get some new young fiery people in there who are willing to show some sack and hold people accountable for all this obvious BS. I’m sick and tired of the way people act, lie, cheat, and steal in this country and get away with it!

So I guess he found his paperwork and discovered that he did really get “special consideration”. Big of him, but my guess is that rates are lower now than they were when he got his “good deal”, otherwise, he wouldn’t be doing this. Dems do NOTHING that is NOT to their benefit…..

Dodd says he’s moving the loans in part because he was wrongfully labeled a friend of Countrywide’s former CEO, Angelo Mozilo. Dodd says he never sought special treatment.

Also, he’s moving the loans because he can get an even better rate with the market down. What an honest guy!!!

Anyone else noticing how all these Dems are tossing out their “I’m sorry” and the “I’ll just make it right” gestures and getting away with it?

Only Dems are allowed to lie, cheat and steal. Once caught they just say I’m sorry, pay some money and move on. No questions asked.

The media is part of the problem. The American people don’t know because the media doesn’t do it’s job. Because you know if anyone is critical of this administration you are either a racist or unpatriotic.

I’m not a tax professional, but I’m pretty sure “benefits” like the ones received in his sweet mortgage deals would be taxable as income. Perhaps Democrat Dodd should be subject to a surprise audit by the IRS. There seems to be an increasing trend among Democrats with “forgetting” to report income.

Whatever happened to the most ethical congress ever part? Seems like every other day there’s another Democrat crook saying he’s sorry for a “mistake”, or “oversight” or “make up whatever excuse fits for the day”.

If Republicans did this, they’d be asked to resign, step aside, move along, etc.

He is only refinancing because his hometown Hartford Courant on Sunday ran an editorial about Dodd’s stonewalling. The WSJ ran an editorial on Saturday. Dodd thinks that by refinancing he will end the matter and the papers he is hiding don’t have to be made public. His two page HUD RESPA will tell the world what he paid to get his mortgages. And Dodd won’t release this two page sheet. From now on he should always be referred to as Christopher Dodd (D-Countrywide)

You mean the IRS now headed by a guy (Timmy!) who also failed to pay close to $40,000 in owed back taxes because he too had lapse and is sorry? Is that the IRS you want to investigate Dodd? Or is there another sensible, more sane IRS you speak of? Perhaps a Superman Bizarro world IRS…?

Democrats investigating Democrats is like OJ spending all his former free time looking for the real killer… The judicial branch is where the problem is. No one is willing to prosecute… oh, or has Obama fired all the US DA’s with no media hub-bub like Clinton did?
