Holder confirmed: 75-21; Why GOP Sen. Bond voted yes: He’s a “good listener;” Roll call vote added
Scroll down for updates, breakdown of B.O. Republicans voting yes…

(Design by Wes M.)
Screw up, move up. Eric Holder sailed through.
Senate voted 75-21. All NAYS were Republicans.
Stand by for roll call vote. Nearly 20 Bend Over Republicans joined Dems to confirm. Voting yes: GOP Sen. Kit Bond. Why? Because Holder is a “good listener:”
A group of nearly 20 GOP senators joined all Democrats in supporting his nomination to lead President Obama’s Justice Department. Twenty-one Republicans voted against his confirmation.
…Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.) had seriously considered voting against Holder but eventually supported him.
“I found Mr. Holder to be a good listener, which is an important prerequisite for any good leader,” said Bond, the ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee. “I believe him when he says that he’s willing to take good ideas from wherever they come.”
Ok, the official Senate roll call vote is not up yet, but C-SPAN just flashed the list of Republicans who voted against.
Here are the 21 Nays:

This is truly awful.
I always knew the Obama presidency was going to be a parade of corruption and stupidity, but I had no idea we would have a pageant this rich in just the first two weeks.
It’s a good thing most of those Obama-worshiping Hopeytologists are already on meds.., they’re gonna need them these next four years.
This A-HOLE pardoned terrorists that attacked us here on our own soil. I wish him pancreatic cancer.
He enabled the pardons, but Bill Clinton did the deed. Wishing anyone something like cancer, of any sort, is wrong. It’s as bad as the leftists wishing that former President Bush (43) would be assassinated, or as bad as racists wishing that President Obama be assassinated.

“I found Mr. Holder to be a good listener, which is an important prerequisite for any good leader,” said Bond, the ranking Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
What does that even mean? That has got to be the single stupidest comment I have heard in a long time. Shame on you, Mr. Bond.
In other words, “I don’t care about the truth, I just care about how it feels and is percieved”.
Mr. Bond, that is pathetic logic.
Surprise level: 0.00
I want to know how McCain voted. Did he “reach out across the aisle” again?
21 principled Republicans left and they can’t figure out why they’re not winning elections… gosh, go figure.
Absolutely unbelievable. Our side gets spanked time after time. They confirm Ruth Ginsberg overwhelmingly and the dems. then try their hardest to derail Alito and Roberts——-both decent nominees who just happen to be conservative.
This guy is an absolutely terrible pick and I cannot believe the feckless republicans. I really hate most of these spineless weeny bast… At least I got to hand it to the dirty gutter fighting democrats. They know how to win even if they cheat. My liver and little heart is probably not going to make it for four years.
OK, the people asked for it, they got it……. live with it, nimrods who voted the 52%…… time to fight my friends, time to fight.
Only 21 Principled Republicans in the Senate. Lets make sure the rest of them regret their votes in the next election.
They don’t understand the harm that was done tonight.
I am pleasantly surprised that Senator Crap-o and Risch had the good sense to vote against this gun grabbing terrorist friendly Attorney General. I can hardly wait for the ATF and FBI to be set loose on law abiding citizens to take their dangerous boom sticks and cop killing bullets away from them. It looks like every slimy dirt bag that the Democrats can find for the “fox to guard the hen house” is going to sail through the Senate confirmation process. The rule of law, sound judgment, and ethics apply to only those with an R behind their name or identified as mean old conservatives.
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE (mo-lone lah-veh) Translation: Come and take them!
How ironic.
(I know, I know, it’s not about that kind of intelligence. I just couldn’t resist.)
well at least Coburn/Inhofe voted nay…guess I need to ping them a big thank you for trying….
Another step toward guaranteeing this country’s demise.
How come liberals can’t see a slippery slope if it’s toward socialism?
McCain voted to confirm. Is anyone here surprised??
Good luck getting my weapons……. it won’t happen
That question presupposes that socialism isn’t the precise goal of liberalism.
I can see Bond ISN’T a good listener.
Purge RINO’s.
I read your list as Crapo DeMint. It could be my browser or are you saying something about the ONLY guy we have who has yet to disappoint us?
Vitter is still perfect in Obstruction 2009! i hope his voters remember this and not the hooker thing.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Thank God Weeping George Voinovich is retiring from representing my state.
People, we are in deep deep, kimshee. There is nothing these ppl will not approve. If we don’t make a stand soon it will be too late. Join the Tea Party
I think “reached AROUND the aisle” is a more befitting phrase.
I refuse to label these 21 Republican Senators as “principled,” when they’ll flush those principles with the next vote. Principles demand consistency; not randomness of application.
Massive Kabuki Theater….
Kit Bond–yep. That’s my Senator! You can bet he doesn’t listen to me. He doesn’t even repond to my barrage of emails.
For what it is worth, however, he isn’t running for re-election in 2010. We conservatives in Missouri are already on the search for a conservative to run.
Does this mean that Mark Rich is the new assistant Attorney General?
The GOP does not care about its base any more, so this vote is no surprise. Heck I don’t think anything will hold up any Obama nomination now short of them having been convicted of murder. There is no GOP any more.
Socky,
Nice point…I guess I’m assuming that liberals could see that socialism throughout history leads to death and destruction. Maybe they want that in America….do they really hate it that badly?!
I don’t think its America they hate, only opposition to their power grab. America is just the name of a piece of land.
YES! They hate the institutions which made this country great. They want to tear down this country and remake it according to the vision of the party which loves death and destruction.
*The worst aspect about Holder is that P-BO will use him as front man to dismantle and/or obstruct 2nd amendment rights; Not gonna happen, so any time spent will be time wasted.
***
The filibuster proof Senate is here already–thanks to the RINO’s.
***
I suggest a really big RINO HUNT in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Remember who they are, what they did, and vote them out of office.
***
I’ve got a really long memory.

cngerms, genso,
I can’t help but agree with you guys, but I’ll be damned if I can understand them wanting the destruction of the ideals that made America so successful. What’s in it for them? It’s not like they won’t be touched by the fading of America. The analogy I see is that they are like rats chewing the nylon ropes of the parachute as we (and they) plummet to the ground.
Just my opinion, but, for the elite money, they won’t be damaged. I refer you to some family (sorry….can’t remember the name) who lost upwards to 2 billion in the Madoff scandal. They blew it off; didn’t even want to acknowledge it. It was nothing to them. For our politicians, this is their ticket into the elite group, they think.
Just wait until this guy starts overseeing the show trials — then these same foolish Republicans will scream murder.
It’s like that old saying, “Give him enough rope and he’ll hang himself.”
I can’t understand it either, TXGator. I just don’t think as liberals do, however, I have long followed the principle of “forget what people say, watch what they do.” Their actions are prima facie evidence of their hatred for this country. The Constitution is a decrepit obstacle, abortions are their holy grail, marriage is to be redefined, God is a cosmic killjoy, the courts are for rewriting laws, etc., etc., etc. It is sickening beyond comprehension. They see America as corrupt, evil, and the cause of all the world’s ills. That’s why they go to different countries and attempt to apologize on our behalf (i.e., Bill Clinton). Power is what is in it for them. They believe they’ll be viewed as the architects of some grand utopia; one in which they’ll be rulers. Remember, Valerie Jarrett already exclaimed that on Day One, Obama would be “ready to rule.”
We must never forget how liberals love tyranny and oppression (i.e., Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Oliver Stone, & Jimmy Carter express their love for Chavez and Castro). Liberals LOVE the power which dictators exercise and they desire the same!
We are so screwed (no pun intended, really).
Hannity just gave you a shout out on your post detailing the cocktail/steak party at the White House The One threw to celebrate the recession.
Newly purchased Sen. Hagan (NC) is doing exactly what her purchaser (Schumer) tells her. Way to lead, Hagan!
“Reach out”? No … he JUMPED!
Sesion’s vote really surprises me, he is one of the true blue conservatives…wonder if he misunderstood the language of the vote, they do turn words at times to confuse the voter.
that happens here in Orygun on every initiative that hits the ballot, being opposed by the left, both arguments seem very similar…just saying, hard to believe.
Here is the wording-
Question: On the Nomination (Confirmation Eric H. Holder, Jr., of the District of Columbia, to be Attorney General )
I just can’t give Sessions the benefit of the doubt considering his years in the Senate and the number of nominees on which he’s voted. If he was having a stroke at roll call, maybe….
cngerms, I honestly cannot believe Sessions voted for this terrorist sympathizer. Don’t ell me the FALN is new community volunteer group directed to collect the 2nd amendments rights of Americans.
As that great American said, “…out of my dead hands.”
19 more names for my Republican black list folder.
I will never submit!
Re the probable gun grab attempt: “From my cold dead hands.”
I’m glad that I’m the end of the line in my family. I don’t think my ancestors would want to live in the country that Pres. Obama and the professional Democrats (i.e. socialists) want at the expense of all my ancestors strove so hard to achieve.
Well, rightisright, I can think of no valid reason for Sessions’ vote other than he intended to do so. I, too, wish it wasn’t true. We conservative Americans are SO sold out by these scoundrels. In the movie “Braveheart,” do you remember the look on William Wallace’s face when he realized he’d been betrayed by Robert the Bruce on the battlefield. Many conservatives have that very same look on their face tonight.
I feel the same. I hate it for all who have growing families.
Oh bother, I just wrote Senator’s Kyl and McCain about this and the crap sandwich this AM :-\
I will not let this discourage me to silence, I just need to get louder!
I’ll play Devil’s Advocate here and offer a different perspective. I think what we’re witnessing is THE PERFECT REASON to have a dozen children and raise them up as men and women of profound character. Liberals abort their kids and we should be working diligently to outnumber them so we can win back our conservative American culture. We’ve lost the pop culture for a season and we need to make advances there in the worst way.
Looks like the list of conservative Republicans is getting smaller with every proposed bill. Session’s is the only one in the “gang of 19″ that surprises me and it does.
My Senator, Kit Bond, is a lush and is all about the congeniality of the Senate. Pip pip, tally ho, pour me another scotch there old boy!
He does not care about us especially now that he is retireing.
Most of these guys think this is a big game. Win some, lose some just be sure you hang around for the next game.
Thank goodness both Senators from my Great State of Texas voted NO.
Unfortunately, I think you guys are right. No way we can beat the change of culture in America. The demographics already have us, it’s just denial that we don’t admit it is too late; the beginning of the end for this once great nation has already begun.
I’m usually not this much of a pessimist, but the writing is clearly on the wall if you want to read it.
Jon Kyl R-AZ voted to confirm, that is disappointing. For the life of me I can not think of a good reason to vote to confirm a bad person.
I am glad Mr. Holder is a good listener as are spies and burglars.
“America is just the name of a piece of land.” And there too lies a chasm that can not be breached. The Great Divide widens.

That everyman be armed-you too ladies
I’m no Chicken Little or Conspiracy-holic myself, however I grimly believe the path is being set in granite, and no amount of grass-roots effort or firearms hoarding is going to save us from the tidal wave appeal for Swedish Rainbow America. The Dems are shrewdly getting Americans hooked on the candy of socialism and more than any time in history have the means to load the pendulum but good and shut Republicans out. I say this so surely from where I am — in Queens NY where high school kids are taught more on how to have “safe sex” than to balance a budget and see the lives of penguins and caribou as more sacred than national security and see “Green” as the mark of a “very good conscientious person” — and the list goes on — and just for the liberalized kids. I truly and sadly mean this when I say I severely doubt any Republican — forget conservative — will see the White House again. The demographic deck is being stacked against us even as we sit. So much has brought us here! If only more “single issue” and holy-roller conservatives held their noses and swallowed their pride in the pre-McCain times of the nominations and just simply voted for the likest appealing and most charismatic candidate it might’ve been a different world. Now we’re not even going to get a foot in the door to be heard much less fix things. It’s such now I really ponder the worth of coming back to conservative pages like this one or Townhall anymore and maybe just surf sites of idyllic fantasies.

in entitlement-happy “free homes — free wheels chanting” Queens NY and soon to sign out this noble but now singing-in-the-hurricane page.
The military acronym BOHICA is definitely appropriate in this situation.
(Bend Over, Here It Comes… Again)
The writing on the wall is in the toilet stalls. It’s put there by children with who are screaming to be heard. Ignore it. You only give them power by acknowledging their perversions. Conservatives know that their social, constitutional and economic ideals work. Don’t be discouraged by those who use graffiti in their attempt to persuade.
I never turn my back to oppression.
Forget BOHICA. Stand tall and face the idiots.
With all these defeats recently, with Holder being only the most recent, it is easy to be pessimistic. In recent weeks the quote from Lincoln keeps coming to mind:
“At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide. The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln
As depressing as these times are, it is not in our nature as freemen to give up. I refuse to hand over history to a bunch of pathetic, lazy, collectivists. Lincoln was right, but with nations, suicide isn’t the end of everything. Something must come out of the ashes. I intend to be around to help my kids re-build a free country.
Thank you JJ. There are millions of us who believe the same.
You’ll need to stock up on guns and ammo for them, and do it now.
FamilyMan – Thank you and keep up the optimism. We ALL need it.
ErinF – True. This past summer had them shooting in Maine with their uncle. My son is very accurate with his bow. Daughter earning her belts in Tae Kwon Do. Both get regular lessons in how idiotic liberalism is, and in personal responsibility.
Where there is life, there is hope. (REAL hope, not the Obama kind.)
A good listener? What is this, kindergarten? I am dissapointed with Dick Lugar. Gonna give his office a call today and say “wazzuuupp??!!
I feel sorry for Tennessean’s. Every time I see one of these lists, their two RINOs are on it. Isn’t the Goracle from there also? They do say that bad things come in 3’s.
We get the government we deserve!
If you are a terrorist, deadbeat, or illegal alien, you’ve got to be a happy camper with the first few weeks of new Marxist regime
If you’re a taxpayer or a gun owner…. not so much.
And yes; McLame and goober Graham, same old tricks.
Well my GA senators once again didn’t disappoint me. By that I mean they once again voted with the Dems, by expecting them to side with the Dems I am never surprised.
Now if they ever wind up NOT being in some sort senatorial gang like they were on Shamnesty and energy then I will be surprised.
GA has great House Representatives, Price, Broun, Gingrey, Linder, but our senators suck.
greenidge,
what’s scary is that I teach school in Texas, and the same thing is happening. I was at a meeting Wednesday for failing too many students (school funding is based on % of passing students). My boss asked me to understand what it’s like to be a single mom and help the kids pass. WHAT??? I was also told to never have students perform math problems with more than one step. Tough to do in chemistry. ONE STEP?
I was also told not to tell parents the truth about their kids if it would make them feel bad. They are scared to death of lawsuits or having to deal with them.
I know this sounds hard to believe, but it is happening everywhere. I teach in an affluent area of suburban Houston.
The reason I am fearful for the future is because I see so many kids with no critical thinking skills and use their feelings as their basis of reality. Unfortunately, the parents are worse, because they raise them this way.
I don’t think we are equipping kids with the ability to see through these socialist and surreal happenings today.
I won’t capitulate, but we do have an uphill climb ahead of us.
And again Wy Senators Barrasso and Enzi voted conservative.
Way to go guys.
Actually I got an email/newsletter from Senator Barrasso explaining why he was going to vote against Holder for AG. 2nd amendment.
The people of the USA are rapidly loosing their power to a government that is lurching out of control. So many citizens are actually giving their power away. Too many representatives are failing to protect the Constitution and our way of life. Our way of life is Liberty. Surrender is not an option.
Cornyn and Hutchinson remembered they are part of the Republican party?
Texans Marking 50th Anniversary of The Day the Music Died.

My comment in #42 mentioning the way Orygun places initiatives on the ballot was sarcasm, I’m well aware Senator Sessions is intelligent enough to understand the meaning of the bill…I can’t get over how one of the most conservative Senators voted for that left wing terrorist lover. Maybe there is no help for us conservatives.
Did you really have to ask if McCain voted to confirm this crook?
