I’d say we’re down to about six hardcore RINOs now, about six who are solid, and the rest, like Cornyn, usually good but occasionally squishy.

Once we weed out the “squishy” then what? Do we clone the non Rino’s?

The squishy might grow a spine if they see some RINOs defeated. I know as well as anyone no rock-ribbed Republican will ever be elected from Maine or Massachusetts, and a RINO is the best we can get, but there is no excuse for South Carolina or Arizona to have RINOs.

If McCain runs again, I will find out if he has a primary challenger and send money. Ditto Specter. Graham has a fresh six years, but I won't forget.

Apparently some woman who was Gregg's Chief of Staff and a "Republican" will be appointed thereby keeping the Dem's promise. We'll see. It'd be nice to imagine her as a true conservative, but I get the feeling that she's just another Snowe clone

Harry Reid is quite literally a traitor to the USA, he has gotten Americans killed for nothing more than his own political gain. He now has complete control of the senate and folks here seem to think that is OK because we are getting closer to our conservative Utopia somehow.
The business plan looks like: Disaster + Disarray + Infighting = Conservative Utopia. If I am missing something please let me know.

And if we don't fix the open primaries, the Dems and Independents will pick another RINO for us in 2012. That should be Chairman Steele's first job.

RE: Northeast RINOs

Sadly, in the Northeast, no real conservative Republican can get elected, and having someone that votes the right way 50% of the time but caucuses with the GOP (such that they can be the majority party, appoint the committee chairs, set the agenda) is better than a Demonrat holding the seat. The one exception, Lincoln Chafee, who was such a RINO, was so obviously a Democrat, well, a Demonrat holding his seat isn't much worse.

Santorum wasn't too bad, he got defeated by the pretend to be pro-Life but vote for Brown and Black Baby Abortions Bob Casey, Jr.

There are some Congressional districts in rural areas where a real Republican can win in the Northeast, but for statewide office, with the big cities full of limousine liberals and welfare recipients, it is difficult. California is approaching that. The very RINO Scharzenegger is probably as conservative a statewide politician that can get elected. California is full of good people in districts near San Diego and in some of the vallies, but again, the moonbat cities drown them out.

So, realistically, we sort of need RINOs when we have small majorities, but there is no excuse for RINOs from what should be reasonably conservative states like South Carolina, Arizona, Idaho or Utah. No excuse for that at all.
