McConnell on Generational Theft Act: “Our goal is not to kill it”
GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke to the press this morning about the Generational Theft Act of 2009. He seemed overly eager to let the Obamedia know that the Republicans don’t want to be obstructionist about the “stimulus.”
“Our goal is not to kill it,” McConnell said. “Our goal is to make it better.” The GOP, he insisted, “has an open mind.” And: “Nobody that I know of is trying to keep a package from passing.”
Open. Or empty?
You have to kill the behemoth first. Then start from scratch.
You don’t pile on more doomed Big Government crap on top of the Crap Sandwich Supreme.
God save us from bipartisanship.

Time to send these fools a message. I’ve already contact Cornyn’s office telling them if he votes for this bill or works to make it “better” he’ll loose the vote of my entire family.
Since when is “obstructing” something that clearly should be obstructed a bad thing?
“Bipartisan”
Translation: Cave in to the democrats.
I almost get the feeling that McConnell likes to be in the powerless minority and wants to stay there.
“We had to destroy the village to save it.”
Republicans have an opportunity to say, “Yes, the government should do something to help the economy recover, but this spending bill won’t do it.” But, they seem determined to blow this opportunity.
But you have to admire their consistencey….

If we don’t kill it now, it will kill us later. Now is the time to do something for the good of the country. This bill needs to be killed. Higher taxes and giving away money will never fix the problem.
The Republican Party makes the Chicago Cubs look like a Swiss movement.
For the Republican Senate members, most empty.
How does one make c**p better? The goal should be to flush this bill down the loo.
Ah, yes, some RINOs and other wobbly repubs do feel comfortable being whipped dogs, and enjoying invites to DC dinners, cocktail parties and other such festivities from which their welcome would be no doubt withdrawn should they actually stand up for Republican principles.
Absolutely.
Kill it, Mitch. Just. Kill. It. Stand for something. Show some testicular fortitude. “No” is not a four-letter word. Don’t be afraid to use it. Enough with the Miss Congeniality schtick—they still won’t like you, so you might as well fight for the constituents who hired you.
There is a condundrum here. The stimulus/pork bill will pass with or without GOP support. Maybe Senate GOPers can get the most damaging and wasteful pork out by supporting it a modified plan, or they can remain ideologically pure and in the best possible position to challenge Dems in 2010 and 2012 when the New ‘New Deal’ bombs, by having had nothing to do with it.
But they can’t stop the porkapalooza, the only choice is let a Dem only bill of maximum waste pass, or damage their credibility by trying to reduce the damage the bill would do to America.
I don’t know the right answer. It sure doesn’t help that the GOP is operating from a position of weakness.
Mitch can’t kill it, he can try a filibuster, but I don’t see the two Maine RINOs, Grahamnesty and Specter all holding firm to defeat a cloture vote. Despite the pork and earmarks, which McCain probably hates, his “reach across the aisle” instincts might lead him to help kill the filibuster.
Repubs can negotiate small changes, or just let the Dems pass a pork-laden ACORN rewarding pro-socialism bill, with zero (well, 4 or 5 RINOs) GOP support, and have the high ground in 2010 and 2012.
This is more reinforcement that my decision to turn my back on these idiots was the right one.
Conservative my a$$.
“Our goal is not to kill it”
My question is: WHY THE #$@#! NOT???!
To quote Ernest Tucker:
“The funny thing about that little white speck on the top of chicken sh_t. That little white speck is chicken sh_t too.”
Hope to shout they better be killing it!! WTF! What happened to sticking to no growth of government and lowering taxes to stimulate the economy??? All “BORE’s” should be standing firm TOGETHER against this pork. Let the demoncraps hang themselves when it all fails!
no matter how much you polish a turd , its still a turd.
Let me kill it! I’ll put my hands around it throat and slowly squeeze. I can now see the purpling veins of it’s eyeballs start to hemmorhage! The raspy croak as it tries to cry out in vain, the ah… er… um…
I think I better call my therapist.
This is like having a party and serving a big punch bowl full of crap and then telling all your guests you added kool aid to to make it taste better. Kool aid drinking RINO’s.
And why not, it’s theft?
Last I checked, the best way to deal with cancer was kill it – by ether cutting it out or radiating it “to death”.
If the R’s can’t see the “stimulus” is cancer then obviously, they are part of the cancer.
I think the choices are either part of the problem, or part of the solution.
The republican leadership in this senate is unnprecedented!! Can you EVER imagine a democrat minority leader turning over his party to the opposition??!!
there’s a reason i wrote mcconnell a scatheing retort when he kept asking me for campaign funds this last year. he obviously didn’t get the message. i can’t believe demint can’t oust this pansy from his position. i have yet to hear Up-chuck schumer utter a single non partisan word in the last decade, yet mcconnell, mccain, graham et al think caving is the strategy which wins elections. pathetic.
I hate to disagree with Michelle, I really do. But if the mortgage plan really is limited to “qualified” borrowers, like myself for example, and I can lower my mortgage payment by over $500/month. Well, hey, better I get the money to spend than they throw it down the cesspool of some lamebrain energy, education, ACORN or other liberal buy votes program.
I’m just trying to figure out why Boehner & McConnell are still the leaders? Under their watch, we’ve lost seats. Seems to me they need replacing as a matter of lost confidence in their ability to lead.
I pity my fellow commenters that are represented by these BO RINOs — seriously. Thank God I live in Oklahoma. All the same, these BOs need to be replaced as soon as their current term expires.
Why, oh why, does this man insist on embarrassing my state?
