Obama stands by his man Daschle

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 2, 2009 12:39 PM

Cue Tammy Wynette. President Obama is standing by his man, Tom Daschle. And why not? The Senate Republicans aren’t going to demand that he throw one of their dear old chums under the bus over a silly little “glitch.” Senatorial privilege has its perks.

U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday underscored his support for health secretary-designate Tom Daschle, despite tax errors that prompted Daschle to pay $140,000 in back taxes.

During a meeting with Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas, Obama was asked if he still supported Daschle.

“Absolutely,” Obama replied.

Because the ‘little guy’ makes so little money, they don’t have to pay taxes..you know, students, people on social security or welfare/entitlements. Those ‘little guys’ are voting primarily for the dems so if Daschle and his buddies don’t pay their taxes, it’s no skin off the ‘little guy’. Seriously, I don’t know whatto make of this.

Did they think they would get a pass (apparently so as they only coughed up their tax obligation after it was discovered)?

Did they think they could get away with it (appparently so as they didn’t declare they had any additional obligation until their tax records were scrutinized)?

And what about the future? Will this prevent them from hiding/cheating on their taxes? Probably not. I notice the Congressional Hall of Ethics is full of chirping crickets at the moment.
