Obama stands by his man Daschle

Cue Tammy Wynette. President Obama is standing by his man, Tom Daschle. And why not? The Senate Republicans aren’t going to demand that he throw one of their dear old chums under the bus over a silly little “glitch.” Senatorial privilege has its perks.
U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday underscored his support for health secretary-designate Tom Daschle, despite tax errors that prompted Daschle to pay $140,000 in back taxes.
During a meeting with Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas, Obama was asked if he still supported Daschle.
“Absolutely,” Obama replied.

Daschle looks dashing in his glasses.
Let’s see, is there anyone on the Obama Dream Hope/Change team that has paid their taxes?
Tom Daschle, more equal than you.
Obama clings to his tax-cheating friends, while we in non-urban American cling to our guns, Bibles and Michelle Malkin’s books/blogs. Which is not a bad trio, come to think of it.
…And I have paid all the appropriate taxes on my guns, Bibles and MM’s books…just want to make that clear
I am very curious as to what the history books will have to say about all this.
It’d be hysterically funny if, you know, we weren’t living through it.
He has met Obama’s qualification requirements – He’s a crook.
Obama’s Administration: Forgetting to pay taxes so you don’t have to.
**This service brought to you by the letter O and the number 0.
Leave it to Obama to get tax evaders to pay up. Wow, what a guy. He can do anything!!!
Errah, Tom Dasshhole errah
And he’s selling guns faster than a fire sale at an Arkansas gun show…
Government of the crooks, by the crooks and for the crooks.
Some of us knew that Barry O had no scruples long ago.
I heard he walked right across the Potomac the other day and then turned it into wine!
I wonder if he would stand by me if I blew off $140,000 in taxes????
I doubt I’d even get a pardon for my 140 year prison sentence.
We knew that liberals don’t contribute to charity because “that’s what taxes are for.”
Now it turns out they don’t pay taxes either.
So why is the Democrat-ick Party, the party that supports the little guy?
Because they say so, of course.
I’d love to see an audit of every member of the House and Senate. I bet all these guys are guilty of tax evasion.
Anyone else noticing how all these Dems are tossing out their “I’m sorry” and the “I’ll just make it right” gestures and getting away with it?
Only Dems are allowed to lie, cheat and steal. Once caught they just say I’m sorry, pay some money and move on. No questions asked.
WHERE IS THE MEDIA? WHERE ARE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DEMANDING BETTER?
Basking in the glory of their Leader.
Well why not? He stood by his other man, Hillary.
Who has the money to pay 140,000 dollars in back taxes at will? How do people like this know what kind of representation I want or need?
Because the ‘little guy’ makes so little money, they don’t have to pay taxes..you know, students, people on social security or welfare/entitlements. Those ‘little guys’ are voting primarily for the dems so if Daschle and his buddies don’t pay their taxes, it’s no skin off the ‘little guy’. I know I’m exaggerating on this but you’d think some of your average democrats would be pretty embarrassed/outraged with these appointments.
Thank god Daschle is a democrat! I’d hate for La Media to have to dwell on it rather than, I dunno, talk about Jessica Simpson or some loon with 14 kids.
They’re all out at the “2 Minutes Hate” protesting against Emmanuel Goldstein.
Just when you thought he was gone for good, Daschle comes back like a herpes sore.
I bet Al Capone wishes the government had these standards when he was alive!
HAR!
Let’s see. Rangel, Gaither, Daschle.
All owed back taxes.
All paid up.
Here’s the plan – appoint every Democrat operative to a cabinet post – and we’ll be well on our way to balancing the budget.
Seriously, I don’t know whatto make of this.
Did they think they would get a pass (apparently so as they only coughed up their tax obligation after it was discovered)?
Did they think they could get away with it (appparently so as they didn’t declare they had any additional obligation until their tax records were scrutinized)?
And what about the future? Will this prevent them from hiding/cheating on their taxes? Probably not. I notice the Congressional Hall of Ethics is full of chirping crickets at the moment.
Would somebody ask Nancy Pelosi what the minimum dollar amount for being ethical is? Or how much must you steal before you get censured?
Today, he would be a Democrat Senator from Illinois.
The gift that keeps on giving.
It’a good thing that The One has such nice pecs, otherwise the MSM might actually have to pay attention to Daschle’s little faux pas!
Not a bad idea. As I mentioned in another thread, I would demand an IRS audit of everyone who has worked in or done business inside Washington D.C. and has made over $125,000 in any year for the past 7 years.
The line of crooks, tax cheats and thieves remains unbroken.
This is getting a little much. I doubt the Democrats see what they are doing to the legitimacy of government of, for, and by the people.
Obama doesn’t like those who cling to their guns or religion but I’m beginning to see a pattern here as to who he does think highly of – those who cling to their taxes rather than give them to the IRS like the rest of us.
Daschle and Geithner made “errors” and honest mistakes on their tax returns? Give me a break. A mistake is the size of Joe the Plumber’s offense – not to the tune of 100K+ or 35K. That’s out and out tax evasion.
The Culture of Corruption’s “euphemistic smell of death” seems to permeate from Obama’s pores. From what little we know of Obama’s secretive past, it sure reveals a startling trend. Does he have any past or present associations that aren’t tainted? Has he nominated one liberal that doesn’t have a soiled reputation?
More than a grain of truth in that comment.
Capone was jailed for tax evasion, apparently we can’t even get these guys for that! This must have been the change Obama was talking about.
I am thinking the IRS better begin running some PSA’s: “Hello, I’m Tim Geithner, Secretary of the Treasury, reminding all Americans that just because me and Tom Daschle got away with tax evasion doesn’t mean you can. Please, folks, pay your tax in full and on-time. Because I’m a friend of BO, and you’re not.”
I wonder where the trolls that defend our dear leader are?
“I have done more to take on lobbyists than any other candidate in this race…I don’t take a dime of their money, and when I am president, they won’t find a job in my White House.”
… unless I really really want them for the job.
It’s patriotic to pay your fair share in taxes…
… unless you’re part of the Democratic Elite and The One needs you for his administration.
sheesh!
Start taxing political contributions, and we will be able to balance the budget AND build a Long Beach ~ Honolulu Bridge-Tunnel.
Does this mean I can finally question their patriotism?
Did anyone see this and is this for real? Submitted by Congressman John Carter of NY? If so LOL
If NOT it should be!
A BILL

(b) Clerical Amendment- The table of sections for such chapter is amended by adding at the end the following new item:
`Sec. 7529. United states citizens exempt from penalties and interest.’
How many of you know whether or not your elected representative ever had a problem with back taxes? The current democrat congressman, Emanuel Cleaver from my district owed 2 years before he paid up. Big scuttlebutt at the time, but it all died down…..
This is great news. Dash is a complete tool. He is the king of pork in the senate.
What is he going to deliver? Go ahead ObingoDingoMyWIngo….keep stacking your deck with morons.
You will be driven home soon enough.
Bear1909out
Desperately Googling to see if anyone in the Bush administration had a tax problem.
“It’s GOOD to be the KING!”
Why not stick with old Daschle . . . he’ll fit in quite nicely with all those other tax dodgers, liars and cheats in the Obama administration. Is there anybody one can trust in this govenment?
BTW, Bower was from Illinois.
Another famous Democrat also likely has tax problems: Willam (Cold Cash) Jefferson of Louisiana. Voted out of office and under indictment for fraud and corruption, something tells me he STILL hasn’t paid taxes on the $80,000 he left in his refrigerator freezer.
My favorite line is still the one by the Republican minority whip, when he said “No wonder Democrats never mind voting for higher taxes, they don’t pay them.”
while daschle gets a free pass, nothing new since if you have no standards or ethics how can you be wrong. I see Kentucky is still not in fema’s radar screen, guess a crook is more important than law abiding citizens to the zero administration.
They are too busy digging into Joe the Plumber’s private business and blasting him for the small back taxes he owes. Those were headlines for weeks. This Daschel thing will pass through the media in a day or two, if it even gets mentioned. The hypocrisy of these creeps is staggering!
see it’s easy to have the most ethical congress and the most ethical administration in history. all you do is declare every crime and ethical lapse by a democrat a mistake, and they apologize for it and VOILA it’s not a crime or an ethics violation. no wonder liberals are so in favor of raising our taxes, they don’t pay them even if they owe them.
In Chicago politicians and their friends don’t pay taxes or water bills. Those connected don’t serve on juries or have to apply for permits — it’s only the
dupesahem, average citizens who worry about such things. Their names aren’t on the lists, it’s a tradition.Obama doesn’t know any better — he came here as a poor island lad.
Since PBO is such a devout Christian, no doubt his thinking was like this:
“Jesus told us to uhh er render uh unto Caesar what is uh you know Caesar’s, render unto God err what is God’s. Well, uhh we all know Caesar is uhh err dead so uhhh,….”
ahhh nevermind.
Daschle sent us The One. So Obama must repay him, somehow, and it doesn’t cost much to say “absolutely.” Writing two memoirs before accomplishing anything of note shows how much he loves cheap words.
Chep: Someone with his hand on YOUR wallet and mine and MM’s, etc!
President Obama needs to select Wesley Snipes to the cabinet. That way, we can get the $5 million in unpaid taxes back.
In fact, Obama should just create a spot for all big time tax evader and that way we could fund the stimulus package instead of borrowing from China.
Coming from Kenya, Indonesia, Hawaii and Chicago I imagine BroBama is unimpressed with such petty corruption. This is the man whose twin Daddies are Richard the Chicken Hearted Daley and William Plant a Bomb Ayres. if those two men do not offend you back taxes can’t be a problem.
God Bless Tammy Wynette, she isn’t Miss Hillary!
BOHICA,we all just got punked, like it?
The people of Chicago have been enslaved to this mendacity. It’s the way it’s gonna be for the rest of us. Wait until his minders show up in your town and attend your city council meetings and school board meetings. His picture appearing in your post office and DMV. Itis gonna get verrrrry ugly soon. We ain’t seen nothing yet.
This guy and his party are Satan’s handmaidens.
God, is Obama really that naive that he will stand by the likes of Daschle, despite all of his lofty campaign promises?
Is this parade of corrupt Clintonoids really the best “the One” can get?
Or has the One started to believe his own BS, i.e. “I won?”
No Dimsdale I do not think President Obama and friends are anything close to naive. Cynical, ruthless and with the full knowledge they can not be stopped anytime soon, but no, not naive. Oh he might have to drop Daschle if some of his Far Left Senators panic but that too would be cynical and no more significant than changing his socks.
He is friends with William Ayres.
