Does anyone know how to pay taxes in the Obama White House?
Crikey. Three weeks in, and this administration is a complete laughingstock. More tax troubles. More nanny problems. More withdrawals. This time it’s Obama’s Chief Performance Officer.
Yeah: Chief Performance Officer.
Nancy Killefer, who failed for a year and a half to pay employment taxes on household help, has withdrawn her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government, the White House said Tuesday.
Killefer was the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate their nomination after President Barack Obama announced their selection.
The White House said Obama had accepted Killefer’s decision and that the 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co., would explain her reasons for pulling out later Tuesday.
When her selection was announced by Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a $946.69 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help.
“[W]ould explain her reasons for pulling out.”
Let me guess: “Family reasons.”

Nancy Killefer is a senior director in the Washington, D.C. office of McKinsey & Company, Inc. She is a leader of McKinsey’s Public Sector Practice, specializing in developing strategies and improving organizational effectiveness for a range of government clients.
Nancy joined McKinsey in 1979 and during her career focused on strategy, marketing, and organizational effectiveness and efficiency issues with an emphasis on consumer-based and retail industries.
From 1997 to 2000, Nancy served as Assistant Secretary for Management, CFO, and COO at the United States Department of the Treasury. In addition to overall management responsibilities for Treasury’s 14 bureaus and 160,000 people, she led a major modernization at the Internal Revenue Service, prepared Treasury’s systems for Y2K, and reshaped management processes, including installing an asset management program across the Treasury Department.
After returning to McKinsey in 2000, she joined the IRS Oversight Board, a public-private entity akin to a corporate board that oversees the IRS. She served there from 2000 to 2005 and was its Chairperson from 2002 to 2004.

Like 9/11, her failure to pay taxes happened on Bush’s watch. Was he too busy “clearing brush” on vacation in Crawford to personally examine every person’s tax returns before they filed?

Sure they know how, but they reserve the right to be “free to choose” not to pay. They think their majority makes them above the law.
Great vetting job by Obama’s administration. You’d think the first question they’d ask is: have you ever committed tax fraud? Or do so few liberals actually pay their taxes that such a question would be too quaint? In any event, I think that before the Great Hopey-Changey World-Altering thing Obama has been promising, he should get his own roach-infested house in order.
Trying to make the government more efficient. She did this for the IRS. From the looks of that, though, it seems “efficient” is liberal code word for ignoring Dem tax cheats.
This is the real dawning of the “Culture of Corruption” and the Democrat’s “failed” policies. They forget, when you point your finger accusingly at someone, there are three pointing right back at you. They tried to hang those titles on Republicans but it looks like they now own them.
On the Daschle tax problem – didn’t they just hang Senator Stevens from Alaska for accepting “free” remodeling and other perks while in office? I’m sure if they check back far enough, they’ll see that Tom Daschle received similar perks. These patterns don’t start over night and you don’t become a millionaire on a Representative/Senator’s salary.
What’s the difference between The One’s appointees and Leona Helmsley? After she famously noted “Only little people pay taxes,” she went to jail for tax evasion.
I suppose this is a good thing. The more Pres Obama appointees to pay taxes the less likely we will need the stimulus.
Nancy Pelosi was always fond of the phrase “culture of corruption”. I notice that she has stopped saying that. Yeesh! It should be obvious, even to the group that we laughingly call the mainstream media, that the Democrat party is full of crooks and cheats from top to bottom.
Now we know why the Obaminites HAD to have Holder as AG-they wanted to make sure no one would prosecute all these
Democrats for tax evasion.

It looks like Obama used the same vetting team from his campaign.
Good lord . . . Obama must have hired an earth moving company to turn over this many rocks.
Not so, this one had a tax lien placed against her by DC so his vetting team should have found it long before he even nominated her.
What’s next? Nominees find that they hire illegals and they pay them cash at less than the minimum!!! or put the bribe money in the freezer!!!

The delinquent Dems need timeouts to think of their misbehavior when it comes to paying taxes, not prosecuted. So, when Obama has vacated Guantanamo, he should send them for some quiet reflection in the sun.

This is starting to make me nostaligic for the Clinton years when time elapsed between scandals, gaffes, errors of judgement and various skeletons falling out of closets was measured in days, not hours.
Simple. Killefer had not yet been admitted to the brother-sisterhood of the Chosen Ones. She doesn’t qualify for protection.
I thought not paying taxes was a requirement in the Obama Administration.

Maybe the MSM should just report when Obama selects someone who ISN’T corrupt. I really don’t expect that most of his choices are going to be moral, upstanding citizens. The liberals will get away with whatever they can. They do not live by the same standards and most decent law-abiding people.
I’d like to know what a Chief Performance Officer is, too. Does the position involve oiling up Barry’s glutes for bare chested media luv photoshoots? Or, is she involved in walking Barry’s dog and making sure the kids do their homework, so The One and his wife can attend fancy dinners?
Probably the greatest argument for simplifying the tax system has been made accidentally by the obamanites. If people with their money can make such mistakes, then what chance does the average American have. The only way out of all this is a massive tax revolt where literally millions of Americans refuse to pay the income tax. If there are enough people doing this, then the tax system will have to change along with the government.
I am a CPA, and I can tell you that people are well aware of the nanny tax. They don’t know how it works, but they certainly know they have to do something. If you have a nanny, you have an accountant.This is just plain cheating.
Let me repeat what I said yesterday…I’m switching my political ties to the Democrat party. No need to pay any more taxes! Sweet!

Let’s not forget that Democrats are notorious in thinking that you (any “you”), just not them, should bear the brunt of the tax burden.
In fairness, perhaps all this illustrates how a ridiculously complicated and obtuse tax code is in dire need of simplication and reform.
Two questions, somewhat sexist in nature but valid all the same –
(1.) Why do so many Democrats, usually women, fail to pay taxes for household help?
(2.) Presuming by “household help” they mean a nanny, why do so many Democrats, again usually women, find it necessary to have help in raising their children?
Doesn’t this make it seem like Democrat women are incapable of taking care of their own children and maintaining a career, presuming they work? And what’s more, what’s with the need for paid live-in and/or in-home childcare? Is there not a nearby daycare or adoring grandmother or aunt willing to pitch-in and help?
Politicians are as a whole a rather stinky bunch. I don’t believe for a second that this is just a democrat problem. If you audited the tax returns of all Senators and Congressmen/women, I would bet you would find at least an 80% cheat rate. If you are looking for morality, honesty and character… but for a couple of rare exceptions, you won’t find it in Washington, period.
And while we in the blogosphere all snipe at each other, gleeful in pointing out that the other side has once again f***ed up, this Country goes further and further down the drain.
The Messiah’s in a fix and no mistake. He can choose from a huge pool of ethically-challenged Clintonites, or sift through the sewage of our beloved Congress, or comb through academia and the NGOs for wild-eyed devotees of the tin-foil hat. Even if he wanted qualified people of integrity, there are none to be had under his tent, and precious few across the aisle either.

Which is why, I think, federal office holders should be autited at least semi-annually during their service and for five years after leaving.
And I have two questions of my own:
1) what happened to that 62 page disclosure document all the Obama appointees were going to have to fill out?
2) WTF is a “chief performance officer”?!!?!?!
Cute. ANOTHER high IRS official who ignores paying taxes. Makes you wonder why ANYONE should pay taxes, since the people that run the damned tax department can’t be bothered to pay them. Maybe a year or two at the beginning of the time frame as well? A lot of government employees that undergo background checks have their finances and business dealings scrutinized with at least as much, if not more detail.
It’s a new position conjured up by Obama and his handlers to, supposedly, “increase governmental efficiency” and the like… as if it weren’t some really bad joke based on an oxymoron.
Does anyone have any specific information about the domestic worker in question? Since this person was working ‘under the table’ (or something similar), is this person a citizen, legal resident or, [sigh...] an illegal alien?
That’s because the libs are waiting for this stimulus bill to include free child care until the age of 18. Why pay for it when our tax dollars will?

Here is another one. Two term limits for ALL Senators, and Congressmen, both on a State and Federal level. There is way too much power in these “lifetime” politicians, and it breeds breathtaking arrogance. Arrogance often leads to this type of dishonest behavior, thinking you will never be caught or that you have the right to flout the laws the rest of us “pee-ons” have to follow.
So liberals don’t give to charity, and they don’t pay for their government mandated social welfare programs either. Figures.

Thanks to the MSM’s last two years of spouting about the failing economy–which it wasn’t–thanks to the election and the fears of what tricks Obama had up his sleeve when he was elected–stimulous package–thanks to the continued doom and gloom from the Obama admin–which isn’t really bad yet but is guaranteed to make it to Carter levels–the construction industry, upon which our business relies, has backed off considerably. There has to be a whole lot more about this Chief Performance Officer that is yet to come to light. Missing he nanny unemployment insurance payment to DC is a whole lot more understandable (and way less money) than Geithner and Daschles evasion.

I just found out Senator Daschle STILL has a Senate paid staff from his days as Majority Leader-a life time perk. Rather like Imperial Russia or England with their Hereditary Nobels. And these people talk of corporate greed. His speaking fees were more than three million dollars last year and $83K per month in consulting fees.
I am surprised he couldn’t afford a CPA.

So another blow to the ONE and “saved by the bell” for the BO RINOs — they didn’t have to vote on this. They’re still need taking down for posing as wise men.
Change we can believe in alright. Let’s round up all the Dem tax cheats, then there would be no need for the stimulus! I agree with one of the statements above. Let’s all become democrats so we don’t have to pay taxes.

Of course they know how to pay their taxes, but why would they want to? Have you seen where it’s being spent? STD classes, bank bailouts, car company bailouts…why would they want their hard “earned” (being charitable) money to be sunk into black holes like these? It’s okay for the little people like us to pay to support this stuff…but our betters? Don’t be ridiculous!
How about the congressional tax cheats pay up in full, with penalties as well as interest, before the rest of us and future generations are in debt up to our eyeballs. Congress has no idea what ethics or budgets are.

the flat tax doesn’t get rid of the IRS, the Fair Tax does…and of course it’s appropriately named.
I’m changing my voter registration.. I’ll never have to pay taxes again. And if I get caught I’ll at least be making enough to pay it with no problem.
The IRS can go after regular folks who might have made a mistake while running a business with a merciless ruthlessness that would shock the Russian mob, but if you’re a Democratic appointee all you have to do is pay late and say you’re sorry. I keep telling my mom her native country in Latin America is officially less corrupt than ours.

Fine print here is not paying taxes on domestic “help” is that, without the taxes paid, the “help” doesn’t report the income or pay taxes. In our upside down tax world, this means the “help” may not be elegible to any Earned Income Tax Credit payback. The EITC basically pays them back for their payroll, Medicare and Social Security taxes.
So not paying the household help probably saves everyone money by cutting out all the BS tax/welfare bureacracies and their related expenditures. So everyone’s performance is increased by not paying your help… She should be the perfect person for this position…
Just trying to help these folks out with their Obamaneese rationalization’s… Apparently, they haven’t quite got their scam all sorted out just yet…
