Obama gets his S-CHIP Trojan Horse, first tax hike of 2009: “The first step” Updated

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 4, 2009 04:56 PM

As expected, the House today gave final approval to the S-CHIP government health care expansion funded with a massive tax hike on smokers. President Obama is set to sign the bill amid great “progressive” fanfare. The kiddie human shield strategy strikes again.

The roll call vote is up here. The vote was 290-135.

I’ve broken down the list of Republicans who supported this universal health care Trojan Horse. Take note:

Take heed: President Obama said at the signing that this is just the “first step.”

For once, a moment of pure ideological candor.

Also: Obama’s praise for the provision loosening of eligibility for legal immigrants and their children (a “first step” toward allowing illegal aliens to partake of the bounty) garnered the most applause from the audience and members of Congress.

Rep. Steve King’s statement in opposition to the S-CHIP expansion says it all:

Here in the UK, we pay through the nose for the NHS which provides below par health service. Ask any Brit and they’ll tell you horror stories about how long they had to wait for treatment, how poor the quality of service was and how big a waste of national resources. Many companies (including the one I work for) tout _private_ health care as one of their benefits. If state funded health care was so good, why do we need private health care at all? Keep in mind that we’ve had state funded health care here in the UK for almost 60 years now and the system still sucks. Nobody who has any choice wants to rely on the NHS alone.

I’m curious. In addition to free health care, what do you think that people are _entitled_ to? State funded health care has failed all over the world. It’s moronic to think that it would somehow magically succeed in the US of A. Socialism only appeals to liars and fools: The liars pedal the goods, the fools consume them.

To Irving’s point, on the one hand they add billions to spending with the Schip on the back of smokers and on the other hand we add millions on the tax payers to eliminate the very smokers that are needed to pay the tax. Circular logic and we are stuck with the bill.

Yes, that’s what I was referring to.

A family member was recently diagnosed with ALS and was hospitalized New Year’s Eve from complications of the same. They’ve been in the hospital for over a month now, slowly recovering. They will never, however, be cured and ALS is a fatal disease.

Under socialized medicine – and with the full blessing and cheer of people like eaglehaslanded and Obama – they probably would have pulled them off the ventilator back on January 2nd and let them die because their care is going to be too expensive for the government to warrant keeping them alive. Or they’d pay for assisted suicide to prevent them from being a “burden” (read: too expensive).

Same thing with my grandfather, who suffered a stroke in 1988 and was left paralyzed on the left side of his body. We cared for him until his death in 1993. Today in the UK and parts of Canada, he’d be considered a burden and he’d have been “put down” after having the stroke.

The brilliant political minds in England have already said the ill and elderly have a patriotic duty to off themselves because their care costs too much.

Socialized medicine sets up a system that’s capable of providing medical care for healthy people. The sickly, well…not so much. It makes no sense. Which, of course, is why illogical liberals love it.

I wonder when Pelosi will offer up a “new baby” tax?

That idea has been tossed about, too.

Saving the planet, and all that, for the children we tax, contracept, and abort out of existence. Again, a perfectly illogical and immoral ideology that liberals wholeheartedly embrace.

Well, this gives me one more reason to quit smoking (not that I need another). Actually, this is a lot of motivation for me as I am sick and tired of paying for my children AND every other IRRESPONSIBLE person who had children they either can not afford or are unwilling to sacrifice their standard of living to pay for their own GD children. Especially, illegals and their d*mn anchor babies. Let those big mouth liberals pony up the cost. Eventually they to will tire of having their $ redistributed. A pox on all their houses.

That liberal “circular logic” is pervasive in every policy they enact. Another example, they bemoan the environmental impacts of humans and set carbon reduction targets, while at the same time pushing for ever higher levels of immigration. One negates the other.

Well, I’ll be avoiding the punitive tax on smokers at least. . .I’ve quit because my gal just told me I’m going to be a father. She quit too.

Just between the two of us, that’s approximately $333/year the government won’t be getting to help pay for SCHIP.

Englishqueen…euthanasia was the first step in the road to the camps for the Nazis. They sent all the retarded, epileptic, lepers etc. to the camps….then the “work shy”….then enemies of the state..then Gypsies, Slavs and Jews.

The reason things have been chaotic in America is that Americans did not want to ever give the government too much power. They knew the road to the death camps lies in centralized power.

Now they have flipped. God help us. I fear duh1=666.
