    When I read this column (which you may not have bothered to do), I read a very COHERENT description of a botched abortion that ended in the murder of a live baby and a traumatized mother, followed by a description of the ridiculous ad involving Ms. Judd expressing outrage over the killing of wolves to protect other animals that the state of Alaska depends on for their livelihood. No outrage, mind you, over the murder of a baby. Not from Ms. Judd, anyway.

    Nothing angry or incoherent about it just because you disagree.

    I believe it’s about protecting animals they depend on for their livelihood that wolves prey on. Prey, by definition, does not stand much of a chance against predator without some intervention.

    The simple fact that “nature” does not have any intelligence. (Some would argue that the “government” doesn’t either, but even the government’s room temperature intelligence is higher than nature’s total lack.) The need to manage nature has been shown over and over and over again throughout history.

    In this case, we’ve seen what happens when predators become overpopulated in an area. They wind out wiping out (or nearly so) the animal populations they use for food, followed by a massive die-off as they starve. These out of balance situations sometimes even lead to extinction for one or more species.

    In broad terms, there is an obvious appropriate balance in nature, but it is equally obvious that nature left to its own can quickly fall out of balance.

    Yes he was. As I mentioned, he had a pretty prominent role in “The Exorcist.” Every year, he gives a presentation, where freshmen watch the movie, and then he discusses his experience in being in the film and about the Church’s stance on exorcism in general.

    I am not sure how he feels about zombies, except that he kind of considers himself one, apparently.

    BTW, I feel reading rabbinical commentary on the Jewish scriptures can only strengthen my Christian faith. JWR has a nice mix of religious and conservative political writing.

    Your point is well taken. Anyone that feels the need to show a video in order to induce a repulsion to violence hasn’t really studied nature all that long. It’s not a logical debate, it’s an appeal to pity.
