Porkulus math: A breakdown of Collins/Nelson stimulus changes

We still don’t have the actual, full text of the Collins/Nelson porkulus “compromise” plan, but we do have a financial breakdown of the changes the cave-in Senators have proposed. The Senate Conservatives Fund has posted the math — and remember, this chart does NOT include the money added by the Senate amendments (close to $50 billion in extra spending).
Go here for the PDF.
Bottom line:
Senators Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have said repeatedly that their goal was to eliminate those parts of the bill that are not stimulative. But this document shows that this spending has not been eliminated, but only reduced. If this spending does not stimulate (and it most certainly does not), then why not eliminate it completely?
And if the goal was to simply lower the price of the plan to protect taxpayers, the Nelson-Collins deal fails in that effort as well. At $827 billion, the compromise will cost $7 billion MORE than the bill passed by Nancy Pelosi in the House.

What happened to do it “for the children?”
Come on, GOP — HOLD THE LINE!
the goal isn’t to help the economy, or the public. this is just a big payoff to the union thugs, acorn, and the other pets of the democRAT party…
sow the wind, reap the whirlwind…and that will be inflation beyond what we have ever known in this country…the currency will collapse…pop goes the country…it was fun while it lasted…
I found this very interesting…

as far as I am concerned in christianity, there is billy graham..and then there is the rest of us…he’s in another league…
I get tired of hearing liberals say things like “The pork in the bill is only like 2%, so why hold it up for that?”.
My question is, how much is too much for these liberals? What is the threshold percentage-wise that they will allow? 5%? 10%? 50%? Or does it depend on which party is in charge?
2% this year, if we let the government get away with it, will turn into 3% next year, and 5% the year after that, and etc etc until/unless the American people say enough is enough.
0.000000000000000001% of pork is simply way too much.
Why not just write a check for $2,722 for every single citizen in this country. It would cost the same and stimulate the whole thing…..
Neighborhood Stabilization Program……………………………………… $4,190,000,000
What is that, hiring contractors to keep homes from falling over?
Of all the things in this POS, it’s the new programs that bother me the most. They will be in next year’s budget, and the next, and the next…
contact the members of the U.S. Senate listed below. They include the ten most conservative Democrats in the Senate, plus the Independent, plus a Hillary Clinton’s replacement who showed signs of conservatism. If you live in the states represented by these Senators, please both email them and telephone them!
HR1 is pending approval in the U.S. Senate and they will have just enough votes once Senator Kennedy returns from Florida. If any one of the people on this list votes against the bill, the American people will have more time to see what is in the $800 ‘stimulus’ bill, and express their opinions to their Senator.

Like HR1, when you skim through the SCF doc linked above, you keep asking how does this stimulate anything or create jobs? Answer: Don’t ask silly questions…it will create 3-4M new jobs. The One says so.
If the senators are taking Sunday off, how can they assimilate this monster mess before voting Monday?
Keep up the calls and emails to the senate. Its still close.
Let’s see the bill. Show us da money!
Actually, he later said “create or save” – an interesting backdown, considering that there is absolutely no way in the world of knowing how many jobs are actually “saved”, so no matter what happens over the next few years, he can claim he “saved” jobs.
Actually, the motivation for Collins, Snowe and Specter was only to make enough minor changes to give them protective cover so they could vote their natural inclinations – with their liberal colleagues.
If anyone is interested, McMaverick has a petition you can sign at

… anything Juan McShame supports, he’s a limp wristed, left winger hiding in elephants coverings and has been doing doing so for over 25 years in his comfy government job. He’s another that forgets he works for us not the other way around.
And don’t bother reminding me how he was an American hero. It’s said people change with time and he is no exception…the end of that story.

Yep, emailed them all and nothing has bounced back … yet.
‘cept for Gillibrand
Some of them had posted messages on their sites that gave their position on HR1. Hole EE crap. Some of that are really stupid or blind or sucking-up or all 3.
Our legislators are just a bunch of pigs gorging themselves on the teats of the US Treasury insuring their own re-election at the expense of our children and security.
To hell with McCain.
Somehow I bet Juan is just using this as a way to collect information for a fund raising campaign for his PAC.
Soon as the personal information is collected, the petition goes in the trash.
Meant to add in #17:
Then you get calls for the next 9 months begging for money.
AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’M SPEECHLESS!!!!!!!
GEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!
I spent 4 months negotiating to purchase an automobile, it took that long for me to reach a “deal” that made sense to my purchasing sensitivities. I saved $4,700.00 of MY money. Why are these irresponsible clowns so inclined to commit My money to worthless financial issues? and spend a week or two at the most to ensure that we are getting a deal on an unidentified “crisis spending issue”. Time for some change, hopey change, get rid of all these idiots and require them to recite the preamble, the constitution and Bill of Rights 100 times from memory as a requirement of the swearing in process.
We need to unite as conservatives for America.
They wont listen, so we have to fight to take our country back!
Here is a place to go to find out how!
“…we have to fight to take our country back!”
I’m afraid that just might be the case. Scared. Not wanting it to get there. Thinking it may get there anyway. Especially if Mexico takes a dive and we get hordes of refugees storming across non-existent borders.
gag me
Just gag me
I Think Obama is killing the goose that laid the golden egg…
