So, President Obama phoned the Senate GOP sellouts Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, and Arlen Specter and praised them Friday night for showing their “patriotism” by cutting a trillion-dollar, backroom deal to mortgage our children and grandchildren’s future.
If that is “patriotism,” then I’m proud to be an unpatriot.
How about you?
The generational thieves question our patriotism.
I question their math. I question their morality. I question their sanity.
Kill the bill. Stab it. Stick a fork in it. Then start from scratch.

Liberal definition of “stimulus” – An excuse to steal and misuse other people’s money.

According to a friend in the administration, this is just “Stimulus I” in preparation for II, III and possibly IV.
God help us!
I am proud to defend this country from the liberal/socialist onslaught we are seeing.
If destroying this country from the inside out, according to Obama’s plans, is “patriotic”, then I am an “unpatriot”.
What the he!! did we just spend the $$’s on? Nothing for me, all for thee.
There is only one thing a pork filled bill of that size can produce in abundance, (no, not jobs or products) just more corruption and graft.

I’d say Steele has some problems with build party unity around crap like this. How do the sellouts think the rest of the country feels about them right now? Actually, I think this might have been the GOP’s request. The “credit” might have been given to people who made so little money that they didn’t owe any taxes. But they might get this “credit” in the form of a refund. The GOP may have insisted that the income level at which this credit kicks in be raised.
However, in conference, it might be lowered again. It’s a disguised welfare check meant to buy votes. If the GOP ever tried to abolish it or raise the income level, the message would go out that the GOP was trying to raise their “taxes.”
Our motto has to be:
“We support the President, but not his mission.”
“Send our President home, NOW!”

Snowe is totally hopeless; Collins rapidly becoming so. However, they have a lock on their positions because the newspapers here fawn over them for being so ‘independent minded’. Needless to say, the papers are hopelessly liberal, and independent for them means caving in to democrat lunacy. They tell us how unique and independent minded we are, while feeding us pure liberal horse manure. And evidently, a majority of Maine is buying.
I’m thinking that if he’s passin’ out the $’s, then The People who work hard should be able to get a piece of it. To me, it means that they are going to phase out the $’s at a much lower rate – say $75,000 as a wild guesstimate — and no one making more than that arbitrary amount will receive any stimulus. Not the low end where someone does not contribute anything to taxes. I’m just sayin’ that what started out as a stimulus is now the porkulus – nothing too stimulating about this at all.

The conservatives need to use class warfare jujitsu against the collectivists. A one-year exemption of all withholding taxes for anyone making under $40k a year.

No, the only ethical way to stimulate the economy is to cut both spending and taxes. Drastically. In other words, adhere to the Founder’s constitution which was flushed down the toilet in the late 1930’s by the US Supreme Court. It’s the Progressive court that got us in this mess. As long as rent-seeking is permitted, no politician will be able to resist pork.

Original meaning (M-W dictionary) – love for or devotion to one’s country.
Liberal meaning 2001-2009 – Calling Dubya a fascist imperialist dictator and America an evil nation.
Liberal meaning 2009-? – Joining with Dear Leader, the Obamessiah, the Lightworker, the One, to mortgage the future of the nation for a bill with more pork in it than a bacon-stuffed bacon burger wrapped in bacon, in order to garner praise from the Treason Media and be invited to the cool DC parties.
Words mean whatever they say they mean.

Most definitely. If they really wanted a stimulus with tax changes, they would change the rates to lower ones. That’s what real tax cut looks like.
Actually cutting rates is bad for them for two reasons: 1) it deprives the government of money it wants to spend on what it thinks is important (rewarding its special interest groups); and 2) it leaves money in people’s hands to spend the way they think is important.
Can’t have that kind of “choice” for the taxpayer, now can we? Next thing, they’ll want “choice” in schools with vouchers. Who knows where that could lead…
I join the unpatriotic movement. I’ve emailed each of the senators listed in the last thread. Wish there was something I could do to really stop this lunacy.

Forget the larger issue for a moment and think about Obama’s comments. Imagine a piece of key legislation needed by George Bush and he convinces three Democrats to support it. Wouldn’t you find it strange if Bush called those Senators “patriotic.”
This gives us real insight into Barack Obama’s understanding of what he thinks patriotism is. It also reveals in an even more important way what he considers to not be patriotic.

To ensure it won’t become “his Viet Nam”, he has decided to ignore the advice of the generals on an Iraq style surge, and maximize civilian interference in the mission.

Anything that serves the power of the state (e.g. an oligarchy) is patriotic in the eyes of Obama and other Marxists. The sooner folks begin to understand this the better.
In the traditional sense, what would Obama know of patriotism anyhow? It’s not like he’s ever risked anything for his fellow countrymen or our Constitution, whether on the battlefield or otherwise.

I live in California dominated by the left which has virtual destroyed the state’s economy. I guess Bush gets all the blame but this is a Democrat run state which includes every major city. It is a disaster, just look at us. Obama will not lead us to the promise land, but will lead us to the desert. It is like the Soviet Union, the promise that tomorrow will be better, but tomorrow never comes. I am a patriot that loves this country and hate to witness its decline unless the Republicans, the opposition party, stand together to defeat this takeover attempt.
The dems would never go for it because then they wouldn’t be the heroes by giving to the poor. Never mind the fact that they’re taking that “given” money right back.

BTW, I was just listening to Washington Week on PBS and Ceci Connell says that liberal Dems were as likely to vote against the bill as the GOP due to their favorite social programs getting cut. The deal was to agree to anything to kick the bill into joint committee where those programs will be restored.
That is the tragedy of the Senate GOP’s failure to maintain a filibuster. Three GOP votes makes a world of difference that ZERO GOP votes. Now the GOP looks lame because the party leadership failed… again.

No matter how you try to twist it, hatred of the United States as a representative democracy with a tradition based upon Judeo-Christian tradition and natural law, with a capitalist system, where everyone has an equal right to attempt success, in favor of a one party Marxist state, is only patriotic if you live in North Korea, you American hating goon.
Wanting this country to reject traditonal morality, strong self defense, self reliance, in favor of a corrupt Soviet style they pretend to pay us and we pretend to work that has never worked, is not patriotic.

By and large, all this wealth redistribution will be wasted by those receiving it and redistributed to those providing goods and services that the poor want but do not need (wide screens etc). The poor will stay poor because of their bad habits, and the middle class of the rich will become poor because their wealth will be robbed of them in taxes. We’ll have a small rich class–mostly those who do the robbing.
And amazingly enough, it has not even been 3 weeks yet that Der Führer has been in office and already look at what his “reign” has wrought.
He is already acting and demanding like a dictator. He is forcing his will on both the Congress and the American people. He demands everyone to cowtow to his whim and submit to his will.
Every time he throws a tantrum and screams, “You can’t do this…I WON!”, he demonstrates his complete disrespect for The Rule of Law, Democracy, and over 200 years of America. His distain for anyone who opposes him in any fashion is not even contained behind closed doors, but instead is out there for all to see.
The true Obama did not take long to come to the forefront, nor did the plans of the Left in Congress.
The fact that there are those in the opposition (Republicans) that are willing to sell out their own constituency in order to keep away his wrath and who are just greedy enough to sell their votes is proof to me that there is no such thing as integrity left in Washington, and it will be a mere matter of time before the rest give in.
Watching this play out for several weeks now has seriously made me worry about things in a way I never knew possibly. To think that Democracy could be destroyed so quickly and without a fight, but rather with a multi-million dollar party is just mind-boggling.
Who will stand up against this blatant grab for totalitarianism? Is there anyone left in the Senate who will stand up and say, “Enough”?
I’m thinking less Jimmy Carter 2.0 and more ‘Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers’ with every new detail.
I believe Obama is trying to destroy capitalism, and traditional moral values, to establish a one party government with state control of all or most of the economy.
Stalin as a better example as Hitler, because while there is a general hostility to white Christians, at over half the population, Obama certainly can’t exterminate them, just the ones who are threats. Counter-revolutionaries, ie, Republicans, and any Democrats (Marxists) he perceives as a threat to his power.
That is a couple of years off, but I suspect Obama doesn’t actually imagine stepping down in 2017. Sham elections will give Dems ever larger majorities, and once a SCOTUS justice not on board for a totalitarian state (of course, many of Obama’s followers will sincerely believe it is for the public good, not having nasty Rethuglicans obstructing ‘progress’) dies, Obama gets his fifth Marxist on SCOTUS, and elections can be suspended, or the 22nd Amendment can somehow be declared unconstitutional, ( a sham ‘Constitutional convention to dump presidential term limits?) or some ‘national emergency’ will give us a North American Chavez or Mugabe, a President for life. If the military doesn’t revolt, and Obama will purge those not with the program early, it may be a done deal.
Hope I’m being too pessimistic. Maybe a citizens revolt will be sparked by attempted weapons confiscations, and poorly organized patriots with rifles and pistols can battle a coordinated civil defense force armed with automatic weapons, APCs, tanks, helicopters and electronic surveillance. It is sort of hard to see troops firing on their own countrymen, maybe the Chinese Tianmen Square strategy of bringing in troops from the distant provinces who aren’t ethnic kin to kill countrymen. Of course, we are not geographically divided by ethnic groups as clearly as the PRC, but I already see signs of liberal hatred near the coasts for the backward redneck Rethuglicans in the South and Alaska, that could be stoked, and the New York and Massachusetts inductees to the Obama Forces can be sent to the South, the California barrios to Texas, Chicago and Detroit corps to Alaska.
Heck, probably am being too pessimistic, and the US going Zimbabwe as Israel loses all allies means the first to second coming of the Messiah is coming (depending on your flavor of the original Judeo-Christian moral basis for this country) is coming, or maybe we are meant to suffer a new Babylonian exile, or maybe Obama, even if he does intend to never relinquish control, won’t have the pieces lined up by 2010 and will have so botched things he suffers a crippling defeat in the mid-terms.
We live in interesting times.

They are already beginning to drive the biggest stake through this country to divide the people and using this “crisis” as an excuse/ Every other word out of their mouths is how the Republicans, COnservatives and others on the Right ahte the poor, want the poor to suffer, want them to starve, freeze, eat and drink polluted and poisoned water and food stuffs etc.
As we have all seen, it does not take very much for the idiots to become indoctrinated into actually believing things of such foolishness and outright insanity. When over 25% of the population has been brainwashed into believing that the Government, to be specific, the Bush administration, had something to do with 9-11 either directly or indirectly, by a couple of losers in their mother’s basement, then how hard will it be for them to believe Pelosi, REid or worse…The Messiah himself should they complete a full court press.
What will happen once they actually put forth a concerted effort to demonize and criminalize anyone who is not on the Left side of any issue? Look at how you need to keep quiet about your political leanings in a social or work setting as it is. And that has been accomplished without any effort.

I actually have a theory that Obama will use a fast track to citizenship as a means to build his Civilian Security Force from illegal aliens. Serve 2 years, become a legal resident. Mark my words, should such a proposal come up, it is time to get to your hidey-hole.
The meaning of “patriot” has changed. The left’s takeover moves on. No longer does it mean to believe in and support the country’s history, ideals, belief in God and the Constitution, it means to support the “state” and its leaders. Many of our colonial citizens were braver and more “patriotic” than us today, back in 1775. Where are they now, Massachusetts? They’ve been “dumbed down” and “bought off” by the government. Today, we don’t need the “brown Bess” to wield on the green. We have phones, fax machines, newspapers and the computer. They had a third of the population opposed to the government. That may be all we need today, too. At least to get our voices heard in the halls of congress.
For years Liberals have used “Our You Challenging Our Patriotism” when proposing some of their more overt anti-Americanism. Alan Combs was good at that.
