Daschle’s revenge: Porkulus also a universal health care Trojan Horse; Updated
Scroll down for updates…

I’ve made note before of the Generational Theft Act’s universal health care promotion provisions (see here). Betsy McCaughey goes over the text with a fine-tooth comb and explains how the porkulus is, among many other abominations, yet another universal health care Trojan Horse. I call it Tom Daschle’s revenge:
Republican Senators are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill contains the right mix of tax breaks and cash infusions to jump-start the economy.
Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.
Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version).
The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.
But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

2/10 9:54am Eastern update. Arlen Specter was just on Fox responding to questions about these intrusive provisions. He mumbled that he would make sure that they were “clarified” and “corrected” and that we could be “rest assured” that he would prevent new federal bureaucrats from dictating medical treatments. He complained that the bill didn’t have proper hearings and bemoaned the “rush to judgment” — which he helped lead.
2/10 10:05am Eastern update. Democrat Sen. Jon Tester was just grilled about these provisions. He blubbered like Specter that he wasn’t aware of them: “The language will be fixed if it’s in there.” Buffoonery.
Related flashback: Kathy Shaidle reported in December on Daschle’s designs.

For a living, I work as a private investigator.
Unlike, say, limited address histories, currently it is virtually impossible to access an individual’s health records without their consent (and even then, jumping through a lot of hoops).
Even the semi-centralized medical record data maintained by a consortium of insurance companies is quite limited.
If this crap goes into law, we can all kiss our medical privacy goodbye. Anyone with connections in the government will be able to access it on a whim.
Trust me, I know. I’m able to get restricted information all the time through contacts at government agencies. But not people’s medical records. This is really, really scary.
да, диссидент товарища
So if Daschle wants us to “accept fatal diagnoses”, like they do in Europe, why doesn’t government go first?
Stop treating Ted Kennedy, Justice Ginsberg, and any senator, congressman, or member of their family diagnosed with a potentially fatal illness.
Set an example. Show us it’s no big deal to be told to go home and die rather than cost someone money.
Nice. How did you get the Cyrillic font?
This is clearly not a so-called “stimulus” bill – but it is a stifle-us bill.
Stifle the economy.
Stifle free enterprise.
Stifle the American taxpayer.
Stifle dissent.
Are we ready for a revolution yet?
I am under the impression that there aren’t enough qualified individuals in the United States to fill the jobs that would be needed to build and maintain the electronic healthcare registry.
Can anyone confirm?
George W Bush pushed through the Hippa Act with Tommy Thompson which was the first leg of instituting electronic survellance of your Health Care.Your records are now subject to review by any government agency that may review your medical condition for any reason.
I have a friend that is taking narcotic pain relievers for a chronic pain condition. The DEA monitors her records and she is subject to random urine tests. So much for patient privacy. She is considered a drug addict even though she is under the treatment of a private physician and taking legal prescription meds.
According to her physician this all started last year as part of the HIPPA Act and the survellence of controlled substances being dispensed to patients.
Zieg Heill, we are living in a police state now.
This all started after they passed the HIPPA Act which was pushed through by GWB and Tommy Thompson.

The software I work with could do it. Its not really that hard from a database point of view, the problem comes with networking and access.
Hmmm, having read the bill, in the most simplistic of terms, I am no longer a valued member of Daschle and Soetoro’s world. My regular medical tests will go by the aside for younger people and illegals who are more valued. It’s the message I get from all this. Good, then I won’t be concerned when I physically revolt.
And if you can’t trust Arlen Specter, who CAN you trust?
What a doddering old fool…
See, now this is exactly why we can’t dawdle on this bill. The more we get to study it, the more we see what a disaster it is and all that accomplishes is delays, delays, delays.
Here’s another head scratcher from last night. According to Obama, 90% of all new jobs will be private jobs from massive infrastructure spending which accounts for about 5% of the bill. Alright then. Let’s pass that part and hold off on the rest of the non-earmarked pork.
What I am thinking right now would get me arrested, so I won’t say it out loud.

This translator is fun
I feel like I’m screaming about this disaster and no one is listening.
What people do not realize is that since the HIPPA Act passed everything you say to your Doctor can be entered into the electronic record. Most large health care providers now are having Doctors dictate into the new system which also has patient comments entered into the record.
Be careful what you say it just may end up biting you in the ass.
Некоторые животные более равны чем другие.
Thanks, sonofdy. This translator thing is teh awesome!
What a crock of $h!&!
These guys would have let this whole thing slip in under the radar if they could have gotten away with it and now we are supposed “be assured” that they will take care of things.
Why isn’t anyone else commenting on Obama’s breakneck blitz to the left? He is moving further faster than anyone’s worst nightmare and no one is calling it what it is.
The MSM is a complete failure ! They are an extension of the Obama machine. No one has read the bill. The public is being fooled and lied to.
Most dangerous wording I have ever read.
In the USA we live with the expectation that an entrepreneur is working on a cure. It’s part of our national fabric that we never give up. There is always hope whether its health related or financial.
The wording in this bill is a gigantic step backwards for us.
WTF what about my right to privacy ? where is the aclu and the libs on privacy rights .
if i said what i feel right now the FBI would be kicking in my door .
Just like the tax laws, right?
In the last few weeks the Denver Post and 9News have been running a continuting story about an unusual identity theft ring. Hospital ER employees were copying drivers’ license and medical records and selling them to an ID theft ring.
My records will be nationalized and accessed by bureaucrats, and I’m supposed to feel better?
will this apply to ted hickup Kennedy ???
Steele needs to get out there and make it clear this is NOT a bipartisan bill. Obombastic and the Dems OWN this fiasco.
THEN,Steele should call for investigations into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Which is…a massive takeover of the government by the left-wing socialist party. How can this be stopped? There has to be a way! Are there no safeguards built into our Constitution to protect us from this takeover? Where are the contitutional experts?
I wonder how he would feel about things if it affected one of his kids!!
2nd amendment.
Yes, ironic that the supposed beacon of “hope” would back legislation that gives no hope to the ill.
If health care isn’t for sick people, what’s the point?
And aren’t liberals always carping about the need for embryonic stem cell research to treat chronic illness? If it costs too much, they should stop all medical research now. If a treatment doesn’t exist – tough, right?
its called the second amendment.
and it will be coming to that sooner then later
Many years ago, before graft and corruption ran rampant in this country, I might have felt a little better about my privacy being protected. But we all know what happened to Joe the Plumber. There are dishonest people in every walk of life and in every business, who are willing to stab you in the back for money or ideology.
“Sorry, President Obama. Your little girl has a very serious disease which has only a 5% chance of cure. We can’t spend the money on this. Please take her home to die.”

Using a recession to promote massive socialist nationalization through fear and uncertainty.
“Takeover” is not too strong a word.
Politicians kids are exempt.
My Governor Charlie Crist is at this moment lavishing praise on President Obama and calling for passage of the stimulus bill.Where are the real Conservatives?
I manage my 88 year old mothers medicare and health coverage. Last January some Hospital employee sold my mothers SS and Health Policy number to clinic that has been double billing her insurance. I still do not have all of it straghtened out over 12 months later.
Thanks to the HIPPA ACT pushed through by GWB and Tommy Thompson, now any health care employee can access electronic health care records without your signature.
Barry Soetero is trying to Nationalize Health Care wtihout a vote in Congress.
Fixed it.
As I’ve more or less said before: am I the only one who thinks that the fuel “crisis” and the “recession” were so incredibly coincidental with the election; and that Soros, his rich socialist buddies, and his minions should be investigated?
I mean, Soros is a guy who hates America, and wants to
remakedestroy her; and, he did virtually singlehandedly seriously damage the British pound some years back. What amazes me is that Soros is wanted in France and Russia yet we let him in this country.
He has outstanding arrest warrants and we welcomed here.
Rush talked about this today. Back in Sept. there was a rush on the money market accounts that was taking billions of dollars out within hours and the market had to be shut down. Even with the government pumping billions back in, they were unable to stop it. They had to guarantee all money market accounts would be covered up to (I think)$250,000. Don’t quote me on that, but I am close. Anyway, Rush thinks this is all part of the collapse that led to Obama’s election. This has Soros written all over it. We are being taken over by George Soros, and probably a bunch of middle eastern creeps. Obama is a tool of Soros. Mark my words…I think this is what is happening. Oh, and Soros won’t be investigated because…who would do the investigation? You can’t trust anyone!
My mom is planning on having her heart procedure done before all this crap goes into affect.
The first thing cut when health care is rationed are seniors. You would think that AARP would be up in arms.
The Sweetness & Light blog asks pretty much the same question. He links to a video of Rep. Kanjorski talking about $550 BILLION dollars that disappeared from banks around Sept. 18, 2008…the same time McCain was ahead of Obama.
As I’ve mentioned before, a family member has an incurable, progressive illness. This person is going into assisted living this week.
How long before they “humanely” put them down?
Like some above have mentioned, this “crisis” was WAAAAAY too convenient in its timing just before the election. After years of this stuff going on it “just happens” to hit the fan with just about perfect timing to knock the Republicans out of contention. Yes, the Repubs ran a lousy main candidate and lousy campaign, but I am still suspicious.
When they control your family’s healthcare, they control you.
