Daschle’s revenge: Porkulus also a universal health care Trojan Horse; Updated

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 9, 2009 04:22 PM

Scroll down for updates…

I’ve made note before of the Generational Theft Act’s universal health care promotion provisions (see here). Betsy McCaughey goes over the text with a fine-tooth comb and explains how the porkulus is, among many other abominations, yet another universal health care Trojan Horse. I call it Tom Daschle’s revenge:

Republican Senators are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill contains the right mix of tax breaks and cash infusions to jump-start the economy.

Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.

Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version).

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

2/10 9:54am Eastern update. Arlen Specter was just on Fox responding to questions about these intrusive provisions. He mumbled that he would make sure that they were “clarified” and “corrected” and that we could be “rest assured” that he would prevent new federal bureaucrats from dictating medical treatments. He complained that the bill didn’t have proper hearings and bemoaned the “rush to judgment” — which he helped lead.

2/10 10:05am Eastern update. Democrat Sen. Jon Tester was just grilled about these provisions. He blubbered like Specter that he wasn’t aware of them: “The language will be fixed if it’s in there.” Buffoonery.

Related flashback: Kathy Shaidle reported in December on Daschle’s designs.

For a living, I work as a private investigator.

Unlike, say, limited address histories, currently it is virtually impossible to access an individual’s health records without their consent (and even then, jumping through a lot of hoops).

Even the semi-centralized medical record data maintained by a consortium of insurance companies is quite limited.

If this crap goes into law, we can all kiss our medical privacy goodbye. Anyone with connections in the government will be able to access it on a whim.

Trust me, I know. I’m able to get restricted information all the time through contacts at government agencies. But not people’s medical records. This is really, really scary.

So if Daschle wants us to “accept fatal diagnoses”, like they do in Europe, why doesn’t government go first?

Stop treating Ted Kennedy, Justice Ginsberg, and any senator, congressman, or member of their family diagnosed with a potentially fatal illness.

Set an example. Show us it’s no big deal to be told to go home and die rather than cost someone money.

George W Bush pushed through the Hippa Act with Tommy Thompson which was the first leg of instituting electronic survellance of your Health Care.Your records are now subject to review by any government agency that may review your medical condition for any reason.

I have a friend that is taking narcotic pain relievers for a chronic pain condition. The DEA monitors her records and she is subject to random urine tests. So much for patient privacy. She is considered a drug addict even though she is under the treatment of a private physician and taking legal prescription meds.

According to her physician this all started last year as part of the HIPPA Act and the survellence of controlled substances being dispensed to patients.

Zieg Heill, we are living in a police state now.

This all started after they passed the HIPPA Act which was pushed through by GWB and Tommy Thompson.

If health care isn’t for sick people, what’s the point?

And aren’t liberals always carping about the need for embryonic stem cell research to treat chronic illness? If it costs too much, they should stop all medical research now. If a treatment doesn’t exist – tough, right?

Rush talked about this today. Back in Sept. there was a rush on the money market accounts that was taking billions of dollars out within hours and the market had to be shut down. Even with the government pumping billions back in, they were unable to stop it. They had to guarantee all money market accounts would be covered up to (I think)$250,000. Don’t quote me on that, but I am close. Anyway, Rush thinks this is all part of the collapse that led to Obama’s election. This has Soros written all over it. We are being taken over by George Soros, and probably a bunch of middle eastern creeps. Obama is a tool of Soros. Mark my words…I think this is what is happening. Oh, and Soros won’t be investigated because…who would do the investigation? You can’t trust anyone!

The Sweetness & Light blog asks pretty much the same question. He links to a video of Rep. Kanjorski talking about $550 BILLION dollars that disappeared from banks around Sept. 18, 2008…the same time McCain was ahead of Obama.
