Daschle’s revenge: Porkulus also a universal health care Trojan Horse; Updated
Scroll down for updates…

I’ve made note before of the Generational Theft Act’s universal health care promotion provisions (see here). Betsy McCaughey goes over the text with a fine-tooth comb and explains how the porkulus is, among many other abominations, yet another universal health care Trojan Horse. I call it Tom Daschle’s revenge:
Republican Senators are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill contains the right mix of tax breaks and cash infusions to jump-start the economy.
Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.
Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version).
The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.
But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

2/10 9:54am Eastern update. Arlen Specter was just on Fox responding to questions about these intrusive provisions. He mumbled that he would make sure that they were “clarified” and “corrected” and that we could be “rest assured” that he would prevent new federal bureaucrats from dictating medical treatments. He complained that the bill didn’t have proper hearings and bemoaned the “rush to judgment” — which he helped lead.
2/10 10:05am Eastern update. Democrat Sen. Jon Tester was just grilled about these provisions. He blubbered like Specter that he wasn’t aware of them: “The language will be fixed if it’s in there.” Buffoonery.
Related flashback: Kathy Shaidle reported in December on Daschle’s designs.

Yes, they need to be assimilated into the collective.
The entire Porkulus is a Trojan Horse.
It’s the Communists’ 40-year Wish List.
Resistance is futile.

I sure hope resistance isn’t futile.
So the treating of everything from a boo boo on your finger to major brain surgery will need to be approved by washington DC or you don’t get it.
Seig Heil!!! I mean Hope and Change!!!!
Welcome to the People’s Republic of Amerika.
Well of course daschle or his replacement know how to treat you far better than the doctor you have been seeing for 30 years would.
Michelle Malkin, we have decided that your life saving surgery will be cancelled due to your category as a citizen. Unpatriots who do not show the correct attitude are not worth the money.
/sarcasm off (for now)
The only thing that sets us apart from saayyy..Germany or Russia is that our citizens have guns.
You’re no longer an individual with individual health care needs. Makes sense. Everyone’s fingerprints are now the same too, and BMI is of the utmost scientific importance. If the next Mr. Universe is American, they’ll be forced to get on the Atkins diet ASAP, or else they’re at serious risk of any obesity related diseases. If they don’t get that BMI down, they’ll no longer qualify for our new totally perfect social health care (coming soon!).
Morons.
Soon
we’ll53% will need a government employee to wipe their butts because they’ll be so dependent on the Fed gods. When the true nature of this “stimulus” is revealed to the poor sheep in this country they’ll descend on Washington with pitchforks and every one of these wormy politicos will be tarred, feathered and run out of town.
We must remind all Senators and Congressmen that the American people have the power to replace them.
We need to make sure there are strong candidates in place to run against them in every state and district.
The 2010 campaign needs to start NOW!
If you don’t know who is running against your representatives, call your local Republican Central Committee to find out.
The way I heard Daschle’s proposal explained, it sounds like he wants to set up a system something like the British system. Doctors would have to get permission from bureaucrats to provide any medical aid, even more so than they do now. If somebody on Medicare needed a procedure for a condition deemed not yet life threatening, it could be denied. Of course, at such time as it was life threatening, it could be denied because it was too late to do any good. That’s one way to save money….. I’ve said before that these people fully intend to institute a system of involuntary euthanasia. This looks like a big step along the way.
I heard this on Rush today. So-get this-senior moonbats who voted for The One have literally signed their own death warrant…..Maybe Tom Brokaw will cover their deaths in a new book called….
“The the Greatest Generation is Obsolete”
It’s the reduction of population that the Holdren’s of the world have wanted all along. If granny’s health care costs exceed some government figure, it’s so long granny, you are no longer viable.
Looks likr the Obama Healthcare Stimulus Rationing won’t be any friend to the elderly:
“Elderly Hardest Hit
Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.
Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).
The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.
In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision.”
Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan (Bloomberg)
Hey that means Ted Kennedy wouldn’t have had his emergency brain surgery???
How sweet it is!
Sounds like Daschle is forgetting the important part of the health decision equation, that is, the patient. My son has to have a surgery on his knee, and my husband and I have been researching and getting various opinions before we decide which is the best option, I certainly don’t want some faceless bureaucrat deciding what is in my son’s best interest.
Those who built this country will be sacrificed for those who just arrived and squatted because you know illegals will continue to get the best care…….Gives new meaning to eminent domain doesn’t it.
Lets see, tarpon, tarpon, tarpon, there you are. Sorry, you have a viability score of 12… thats bad tarpon. You have to score at least a 20….
Not for long. ObIngO just signed a national abortion bill. By executive order he set precedence and circumvented the states right to legislate. As soon as he is able to appoint a SC Justice, you can kiss the states right to legislate the 2nd Amendment goodbye. Of course, I was wrong about the stupid voters electing BHo as POTUS. Oh, wait…
Doctors will freak at this. One possible benefit for them is that medical malpractice lawyers will have to hustle more to work their scams since doctors can only do what the government allows. Maybe their lobbyists will get Daschle to permit the trial lawyers to sue anyway. That’s what any good socialist would do.
I was hoping to be long dead before these communist bast**ds got in power. Looks like I’ll be fighting them in the streets now. Some retirement.
Political figures have a viability score of 100 reguardless of age. Maisy or sonofdy????
not so much.
It will never happen…the media isn’t even covering the phone calls and email protests.
Obama’s “Soylent Green Stimulus Plan” at work.
maisy: No, remember, they will have their own cushy plan the rest of us have no access to – the same one they have now. I just hope they don’t force us to eat Soylent Green.
Wow.
Scaaaarrry….
Quite a change from the mid70s, when I was in med school.
Even though the rot and weirdness had started to seep in, we were still taught that the patient’s condition was very much more important than his age, as a factor to consider when deciding among treatment courses.
We were taught that an 80-year-old’s chances of making it to 100 were a hell of a lot better than ours were!
inadvertently omitted:
…the rot and the weirdness of the 60s(of course)….
National Suicide.
And for those individuals who resist, there will be “help”.
purple…. HAHAHAHA…. beat me to it! The sad thing is I am convinced there are people in the Black Lenin’s coterie who who love to see a Soylent Green program.
… would love to see…
hhhhmmmm soylent green day!!!!My overlord was good to me today!!!
Talked to a Doctor who lives in my neighborhood today, who voted for Prompterbama. I told him about this provision and all he said was, “uh, er what some uh er you really?” I think I see him right now still stammering like “The Messiah” does when he doesn’t have a prompter.. Elections have consequences is what I told him. You think his salary will be capped by Bahney Frank?
Do you suppose Obama didn’t get the DNC talking points that it’s supposed to be the GOP that wants to deprive the old folks of medical care?
Ummm….
Don’t be so sure.
I’ve not renewed my AMA membership because that organization lately seems to have acceleratingly become virtually socialist.
They seem to want socialized medicine.
They sure want gun control.
That thought fleetingly crossed my mind; until I realized, it’s essentially the wonderful lawyers (politicians and other socialists) who are pushing for socialized medicine in the first place!
Do you actually think for a moment that parasites would give one of their favorite food sources protection against them?
But that would bankrupt the country!!! Surely they care more for the country than thier own wallets?
/sarcasm off.
More like “Logan’s Run”.
OT: Farah Fawcett…(sigh)
As I said earlier on another thread, I don’t like the idea of the Gov deciding how long us seniors are allowed to live. I’m not ready to go & I don’t want anyone but God telling me when it’s time. But what can we do to stop this? Do I just start planning my funeral now?
The name of the health rationing bureaucracy is to be the “Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research”.
The acronym is FCCCER. Y’all can figure how it should be pronounced.
This really scares me. I have a ton of medical issues and am currently being evaluated for the Heart Transplant list. I can’t imagine the government deciding which proceedures are “appropriate” and “cost effective”.
As long as I have health insurance (or even if I can pay the bills out of pocket) and a doctor I trust thinks I need a procedure, how dare the government say othewise?
The fact is, I have been with the same cardiologist since I’ve been 5 years old (I am now 31). She knows me almost better than I know myself. Now I am supposed to let some buerocrat in washington override her judgment to deem a procedure “appropriate”?
I suppose that this bill will accomplish what it sets out to do. People who are sick and need care won’t get it and they’ll die off, thus saving costs from future treatments. Call it abortion for the chronically ill. I guess this means the new health czar is “pro choice” – after all, he/she gets to choose who lives and dies.
Great! My doctor has just been nationalized! Does he know it? What happens to him if he ISN’T following the federal mandates? Will he be fined or go to jail?
Where in the world does the Federal Government get the power to intrude into the health care decisions between me and my doctor? I am paying for it without a single dollar of Federal money!
This is beyond insane. The Federal Government now gets to tell my doctor how I can spend MY money to treat ME!
Um, here’s an idea. Let’s stop tax-payer funding of prisoner sex-change operations, and other such idiocies.
Called my new Senator Hagan (202-224-6342). It took a week to get someone to answer the phone. I pointed out the page (464) and expressed my concern and I was informed she was still reviewing the plan and could not commit to which way she would vote. So far, yes on SCHIP, Holder, and Geithner. I wonder which way she will go?
Where are the liberals screaming about privacy now?
Remember the ones yelling about Bush listening to phone calls originating outside the USA in order to track possible terrorists’ activities? Which is more invasive and a direct attack on privacy? The government listening to a few phone calls or the government having direct access to your medical records?
HE HE HE Thats funny, you still think its your money. He he he
You don’t really believe that do you? Look at how things work today. You or me goes off a bridge and kills some poor young girl and don’t report it for several hours, what happens? Jail now, jail later, likely jail forever more.
You get caught red-handed (so to speak) having relations with and making a mess on the clothes of someone that works for you, you get fired and possibly sued in civil court.
Don’t pay your taxes. Claim “I forgot”, or “I misunderstood” or, and this one really gets me, “The software I used made a mistake” like at that income level you wouldn’t have an accountant.
Those writing the rules seem destined to be exempt from them in one way or another. Rules like paying taxes on time, obeying the law, etc. are made for regular folks, not the ‘elected and bureaucratic elite’.
I have a doctor, a good one that I trust. I have decent insurance that I pay for. I am of reasonably sound mind and don’t need or want some knothead at the insurance company telling my doc what to do, never mind some faceless bureaucrat using some dumba$$ formula.
Good grief. My next thought was “Leave me alone”. I’m starting to sound all “John Birchy”.
Back to work underlings!
Well, sonofdy, it is kind of funny. It is obviously NOT my money, NOT my insurance and NOT my body any longer.
We are all serfs now and we have to pay our keeper for deciding if he will take care of us.
That sudden shift in the gravity of the planet is Orwell spinning in his grave! This is starting to look like 1984 on STEROIDS!
I am really thinking about moving out of the USA. Zimbabwe is going to look good in about 3 years.
I am really thinking about moving out of the USA. Zimbabwe is going to look good in about 3 years.
Wait till we get to the democrat plan to save Social Security; everyone dies before age 70. Universal Healthcare will make it happen.
And you can bet President Obama will say, “But I won the election! You lost!” Oh, yes, we did lose, that’s for sure.
There must be someplace left for us when the politicians convert our beloved USA into a socialist work camp.
Wasn’t it in Brave New World that those in charge sent away the free thinkers for the good of society? It was pointed out in a burst of honesty to one of those people that those places were the most interesting places to be. Where’s ours?
There are an estimated 80 million guns in the USA so I suspect that gun confiscation will be the next thing on their agenda.
With national health care I won’t live long enough to tell my grandchildren about the time America was free…
Of course, the new administration will probably only allow every other generation to have kids anyway. That will be a great way to cut the surplus population.
I sure miss my constitution and the idea of “limited government.” I know it is sooo 18th century but I do miss it.
Hey WarEagle
I dunno what you are complaining for…you can STILL decide where to bring your car for service!! GeeeZ!!!
(Actually I think it is 60-80 million gun owners.)
There are lines that can not, will not be crossed, not without a fight. This “Damn Rebel” will not lay down his arms. I am an American, Not Britain’s HRM subject, Not a Citizen of the World, NOT a European welfare punk living on Nannys teat.
This Fedzilla has long past being anything good. What employees of this government need to understand is they are supporting an all consuming monster more destructive than Mad King George ever was. Their police, tax and regulatory bodies destroy, and sometimes kill, innocent citizens for the most nefarious of reasons-just because they are big.
We talk of a War on Terror yet live in terror of our own government. Disagree with that government, resist it? When they control your access to medicine? Control your pension? Have your children in their schools? How comfortably we have let this happen.
Register my guns, license them, let them be taxed or confiscated? Never. They will not come all at once, Fedzilla seldom does. Chip, chip, chip away and then strike. Never.
If there must me war let it start here-here I stand. I was born here B. Hussein Obama.

ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND FIREARMS
Should be a convenience store
NOT a Government Agency
I have elderly parents and older siblings who are not in the best of health.
This! Scares! Me!
Can all this be undone with a Republican majority voted in in 2010?
The Federal and State governments are already telling practitioners what they can treat people with. I had a patient that died as a result of government interference with his care. When I asked the State Attorney General to prosecute the specific government employee who caused the death I was told the State Attorney General said he would be happy to represent the employee if any charges were filed. I asked about the civil rights of the patient who was killed I was told they didn’t care about the patients civil rights. And this is the system we have now, wait until the Dali Bama and the Dems “fix” it.
I’ve been doing a little comparative contemplation about what is going on right now and coming to the conclusion that, even though it’s slower than what happened on 9-11-2001 .. it’s making me feel worse, more sad, more frustrated, more angry – to see us and our Constitution betrayed by our own government.
These traitors probably already suspect that they’ll get thrown out in 2010 for springing this – that’s why they will now HAVE TO impose martial law to shut us up by then and retain power. It was all planned; from ACORN all the way up through MSM with Obama – their radical socialist thug leader in charge.
ArizonaNeanderthal I feel the same way should they make a play for my guns too. Most of my neighborhood consists of gun owning active duty and retired military personnel. The ATF and FBI will be hard pressed to survive should they hit our street.
This nationalized medical Trojan horse is just about the last straw for me. Being a 20 year survivor of diagnosed Addison’s disease easily managed by a daily intake of a 10 mg and .1 mg pill, I wonder how long before I will become expendable to the soulless bureaucrat bean counters that will decide who lives and who dies via their viability charts and adding machines.
I am ready for the insurgency to begin. WOLVERINES!
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE (mo-lone lah-veh) Translation: Come and take them!
This is the same argument that was made against smokers. They are driving up the cost of health-care for everybody else…
All who thought discriminating against one group, was a good idea ?
Sow/Reap
The Government needs to keep its laws off my body!!!!!!
Workmen’s Comp in California is already run in a way such as this. The doctor says he wants to treat you a certain way, then it is submitted to your employer who uses a third party that decides whether or not it is truly needed and “cost effective”.
It is just that system which cost me my career and many other things, as after I fought for over a year to have the one surgical procedure on my back that would save my career, I was finally granted it. However, the very day I was to begin physical therapy, the PT’s office called to say it was canceled by my employer. the reason? The third party guys decided that I had already had PT in the past and thus I was not entitled to it again, regardless of the fact that it was a post-op issue. The result? My back healed incorrectly and lost my career. The third party has also declared I can no longer see any more surgeons as I had already done that and “it didn’t work”, I can not have therapy or any other treatments other than pain management…which is on a monthly approval.
There is even more to it than that, but that is the “Reader’s Digest” version.
This little clause, cleverly hidden away in the middle, will cost human lives BY THE THOUSANDS as they decide the cost of life-saving treatments are not worth it based on your age and any pre-existing conditions. They will cancel any and all experimental treatments as well as destroy R&D as it is the thing that drives up the costs of health care, thus people will not be able to get the care they need.
This is your Democrat Party folks. These are the people that claim it is the Republicans who don’t care, who want your kids to starve without school lunches, who are denying people SS etc. Daschle is on record as wanting the elderly to die because they are using up precious resources for the young.
This little clause alone is BEYOND criminal, and if this thing passes with this in it, the health care in this country won’t be worth the paper this thing is printed on and thousands/millions will needlessly suffer and/or die.
Arlen is an asshat! he votes for cloture and now he complains? It’s too late Arlen thanks a bunch! I wonder what AARP, who supported Prompterbama, thinks about this wonderful legislation, now that the Seasoned Citizens that they represent no longer have healthcare rights and roll over and die! Anyone ever read Soylent Green? This is very scary and Tom Daschle and his wife should be hogtied and sent home to the Dakota’s. I remember seeing all those elderly black folks on the Mall just three weeks ago. I hope they don’t get sick, if they do they die! Thanks Prompterbama!
hopefully it’ll be mostly the libs who voted for obama, cause he cares for them…
maybe it’ll weed out the fat lazy liberal losers who want the government to take care of them…and in this case it will…capiche???
President Bush used panic to give us an uber-powerful executive branch, spend billions, and set up the ground work for a police state.
Obama is doing the same thing: using panic as a way to get things done. Obama does not want debate, he wants action.
Any time Arlen Spector says “rest assured” I get very worried! Socialized medicine being foisted on the American people without their knowledge or consent HAS to be unconstitutional!
I can’t help but notice that Tom Daschle is starting to get up there in years. I believe he is 62 years old, which would probably make him a low priority for the new rationing system. It probably won’t affect him though as I’m sure he’s is cheerfully accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them.
This is going to be a long four years!
The Dems are real good at following the morning memo. Well the phrase “good paying jobs” has been said almost as often as “my friends”.
Noticed that the stock market is holding its breath on the bill vote.
I suggest a march on Washington NOW! This is a takeover of our government. The people did not choose this! The media has perpetrated a fraud on the American people by their culpability in Obama’s election. Almost half of this country did not vote for this! Many of the others, who did vote for him, were “taken in” by the rhetoric of Obama and the media. Many of them are poor, uneducated folks who don’t know any better and have been brainwashed. This is very very serious, folks! I will be listening to Rush this a.m. to see if he has any suggestions as to how we can fight this.
Forget all the crap in the bill…The biggest outrage is that the MORONS don’t even read the bills they approve.……..Morons is too weak a description of these clowns
Hide those guns and guard them carefully!
Wishful thinking. The poor sheep in this country voted for this and they pretty much don’t care.
I can’t believe Pelosi would go along with this. Wouldn’t that mean she could no longer get botox without going through a lot of red tape? Is it life-threatening to cut someone off botox suddenly without some kind of withdrawal medication? Or do the a$$hats in Washington get a different kind of healthcare than the peasants?
NO
They will care when the consequences come down. Most of them don’t expect to feel the pain but will react badly when they do.
How much other crap is in there that nobody knows about? Socialism in it’s finest, in the guise of “hope and change”.God help us all.
Daschle’s design: Death to America.
Democrats and Islamofacists have so much in common.
Can’t wait to see the outcome when the Government begins to clandestinely compare the type and amount of treatment you will get, to the list of campaign donors and their political party.
Um…Ted Kennedy has enough to pay for his healthcare out of petty cash. I have always said I would give my life for my grandchildren. It now looks like I may have to.
One of my soldiers asked me about changing the government on saturday. I told him, to make massive changes in the government from the way it is now we would have to destroy it. Completely. I think most people here understand the idea of inertia in government organizations. How incremental changes tend to get reverse behind you as you move along when the government gets mired in paperwork and bearuacracy. The only way to change this at this point is to increase government or destroy it.
Michelle, is this UHC crap a done deal and we can do nothing to stop it?
Served up on a stimulus plate at the big government hog farm.
After Democracy fails, it’s replaced by a Dictatorship.
Arizona…can I move near you? Or better yet, can I move in with you?
Kinky Freidman thinks the bail out of the banks is creating a rising tide of angry populism. Unintended Consequences?
http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/2009/02/kinky-freidman-handicapable-lion-tamer.html
we are already there!!! They are NOT listening to the people…the congressional switch board busier than a one-armed paper hanger and the local offices just as bad but they still vote to send this crap sandwich forward and then sneak stuff in in the middle of the night….time for another 1776 folks….send them their pink slips…we need a wholesale replacement of the government….when do the street marches start???
Some animals are more equal than others, tovarisch.
Incrementally, last January 20th.
Da, comrade dissident.
And to really cheer everyone up, do you realize the libs have only been at this a few weeks! Think what they can do in two years.
Remember, pretty soon over 50% of the voting population will no longer pay taxes. Do you think they will vote to reduce their “entitlements”?
For a living, I work as a private investigator.
Unlike, say, limited address histories, currently it is virtually impossible to access an individual’s health records without their consent (and even then, jumping through a lot of hoops).
Even the semi-centralized medical record data maintained by a consortium of insurance companies is quite limited.
If this crap goes into law, we can all kiss our medical privacy goodbye. Anyone with connections in the government will be able to access it on a whim.
Trust me, I know. I’m able to get restricted information all the time through contacts at government agencies. But not people’s medical records. This is really, really scary.
да, диссидент товарища
So if Daschle wants us to “accept fatal diagnoses”, like they do in Europe, why doesn’t government go first?
Stop treating Ted Kennedy, Justice Ginsberg, and any senator, congressman, or member of their family diagnosed with a potentially fatal illness.
Set an example. Show us it’s no big deal to be told to go home and die rather than cost someone money.
Nice. How did you get the Cyrillic font?
This is clearly not a so-called “stimulus” bill – but it is a stifle-us bill.
Stifle the economy.
Stifle free enterprise.
Stifle the American taxpayer.
Stifle dissent.
Are we ready for a revolution yet?
I am under the impression that there aren’t enough qualified individuals in the United States to fill the jobs that would be needed to build and maintain the electronic healthcare registry.
Can anyone confirm?
George W Bush pushed through the Hippa Act with Tommy Thompson which was the first leg of instituting electronic survellance of your Health Care.Your records are now subject to review by any government agency that may review your medical condition for any reason.
I have a friend that is taking narcotic pain relievers for a chronic pain condition. The DEA monitors her records and she is subject to random urine tests. So much for patient privacy. She is considered a drug addict even though she is under the treatment of a private physician and taking legal prescription meds.
According to her physician this all started last year as part of the HIPPA Act and the survellence of controlled substances being dispensed to patients.
Zieg Heill, we are living in a police state now.
This all started after they passed the HIPPA Act which was pushed through by GWB and Tommy Thompson.
Наш великолепный лидер obama освободит Вас боль и будет беспокоиться о Вас. Вы будете наслаждаться этим.
