I’ve just e-mailed Sen. Cornyn’s office and asked why he missed the vote.
Heard from a NYC conservative that Cornyn is there now speaking to the Republican “Monday Meeting” group — made up of wealthy GOP donors.
Bizarre display of priorities.
Several Washington Hill folks note, of course, that the number of no votes isn’t important on cloture votes.
But it matters to many of Sen. Cornyn’s tax-paying constituents, who have e-mailed wondering where he was.

Update: This is the response I received from Sen. Cornyn’s office…
“Sen. Cornyn was out of town for a prior committment, but his position is clear – he opposes the stimulus and will vote against final passage.”

Conservatives on Twitter aren’t buying the Beltway blase attitude about Cornyn’s missed vote.

There’s nothing left but to vote these imbeciles out of office. I think I’ve heard that before.
It’s all good. Now that the dirty deed is done, I’m busy scouring everything in this porker. If the first round of TARP bailouts is any indication , I’m rich. There is so much money being thrown around, $1mil here, $50mil there, $1bil dollars everywhere, the chance of effective oversight is non-existent. I’m sure I can find about $100 million dollars that I can abscond with under the guise of stimulus. I may even become a DINO just to make it that much easier to get away with.

Spector was on radio with Laura Ingraham and she nailed him to the wall. All his phones are full and so is his email. He admitted they were mostly against. These people are going to be tarred and feathered.

Since there is nobody in the Republican party heirarchy that will tell these senatorial AOs to leave the party, I am not going to worry about it any more. My only loyalty is to Coburn and Inhofe. I no longer identify as/with, and with the exception of the two mentioned, vote for Republicans.
If you can’t depend upon the party electees to have loyalty in the one of the most crucial votes in the last 50 years, then they should be honest enough to leave. However they are not honest enough and obviously are easily bought. Shame on you native born aliens in Maine and Pennsylvania.

Cornyn is one of my senators. I can’t believe he didn’t vote after his big speech the other day. Hutchison only voted for it because she will be running for governor and our current governer has been lamblasting her lately. By the time the House and Senate get together and work out details, this will only get bigger and bigger. Keep calling, faxing, and e-mailing your reps.

Like I have said for most of the last two years. The GOP is dead. Sen. Cornyn couldn’t be in Washington, DC to cast a vote of historic dimensions. But he could be out of town raising money to elect more RINOs to office to push the nation toward destruction.

Somewhat in mild defense of Cornyn from someone who is not shy about criticizing him, he is head of the RSCC and as such has an obligation to do these glad-handing gigs. Commitments made are sometimes hard to break, and for what it’s worth, I imagine he expected this vote to happen last week as Harry Reid had promised (I know, I know, all Democrats are liars and Reid is the ultimate Democrat).
This whole thing makes me sick! I heard Specter on several talk radio shows today trying to defend his position.I had to chuckle when Laura Ingram asked him if it was nice to be wined and dined at the White House.He even said he was getting tons of e mails and phone calls opposing his position,but he’s determined.The frightening thing is there are several anti religion clauses in this bill as well as electronic charting for medical records,where they can list you as a non compliant patient and I just read Boxer is pushing for this UN rights of the child.Basically taking all of parents rights away.I feel like I’m living in The Soviet Union.
Here in Virginia, we have 2 senators that will do anything Reid tells them to do. Both are new and want to be one of the guys. They’re more interested in democratic support for their re-elections than the state or country welfare.

If not at least organize a 1,000,000 working blue collar people march on Washington. I can take three in my car and I am sure that others can do the same. If that many went to Washington the country would be at a stand still and maybe Washington Idiots would understand that WE are more important than Wall Street.
I am totally with you on this! We have a van…holds 6 very comfortably and as a side benefit, it has a huge carbon footprint. I live in Minnesota and could take the ones near me. Two that I know of…Eagan and Roseville are very close.
