“The only thing grand about the Grand Compromise is the price tag.” That was GOP Sen. Kit Bond on the floor just now. He says he’ll vote against the Turncoat Caucus plan.
Following him, Sen. Sessions tried one more time to get the Democrat majority to put his bipartisan E-verify amendment up for consideration. He pointed out that the exact same provision passed in the House 407-2.
Democrat Sen. Max Caucus says it would be “prudent to object” — without giving a single good reason the Senate shouldn’t ensure that stimulus money only goes to law-abiding workers.
Democrat Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska is defending the Turncoat Caucus plan.
He just called it “lean.”
If the trillion-dollar-spendulus is “lean,” Oprah Winfrey is anorexic.
Update: 5:04pm Eastern. Turncoat Caucus leader GOP Sen. Susan Collins takes the floor. Launches into Chicken Little monologue. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
Self-delusional Sen. Collins extols her “bipartisan effort.” Two or three out of 535 on Capitol Hill.
“Bipartisan.”
Collins laundry-lists all the spending and concludes again: “Our effort is bipartisan, targeted, and effective.”
No: It’s pork-laden, out-of-control, and irresponsible.
It’s desperate, bloated, and theft.

I still contend the “stimulus” bill is so large to conceal the incredible amount Obama is sending to Acorn – nearly 5 billion dollars. This is payoff and also ensures that Obama will be re-elected due to their voter fraud operations.
In a smaller appropriations bill, it would be a lot harder to hide such an enormous amount.
I’ve never understood why the federal government gives money to an organization that engages in registering people to vote for Democrats.
How about a “Fairness Doctrine” to rectify that?

If they would just do a roads, and bridges plan to start next month worth ten billion, we would see a great change in the economy.

Expect the Democrats to put up a stimulus bill every two years, as long as they have control of the White House and Congress. This cements their power in DC.
There are two solutions to this mess:
1. Right-minded, logical, common-sense thinking people run for either US Senate or US Rep. If that is not manageable, then run for state rep or state senator. Pick one and run! It isn’t enough to just vote. More is required from us.
2. The Republican Party needs our money and time. It has new leadership, which means new blood and motivation.
This is our Valley Forge; if we can persevere, we can turn this mess around. It will take time and lots of effort but it can be done.

When the GOP is in power they spend and govern like socialists. When they are out of power they suddenly become born-again conservatives, or at least most of them do.
It is for this reason that I am no longer a Republican. Doing the wrong thing when you are in power is wrong. And making the right arguments when you are out of power and can’t stop the wrong thing from happening really doesn’t help America.

Here is the pathology we will be confronting from here on out:
When it becomes obvious that the spending is failing, we will be told “we always said it would take a long time for the plan to work. Let’s give it that time.”
Later, when everyone has lost patience, it will then be “We can’t just give up and walk away from the $20 trillion investment! All we need is another $5 trillion.”
There will be no ending this.
I find it very hard to get my mind around these numbers. At $10 trillion (we are currently at about $12-13 trillion), that equates to more than $3 million for each American. Why don’t they just give us the money directly?
The only way we can pay for this is with the hyper-est of hyper-inflation. It’s not a matter of the economy being too weak to trigger inflation. It’s the simple math of printing so much money in a declining economy.
I am coining a new term right here and now: “stagpression” (copyright protected).

Socialists are the people we need to CONVERT to fiscal conservatism before the midterms.
I was taught in high school, as fact, that trickle-down economics did not work. I was taught in high school or earlier, as fact, that the New Deal was what brought us out of the Great Depression. I am substantially over voting age, so a lot of voters were probably taught the same things.
Being incorrect is not the same as being evil, and having a biased education is not the same as being stupid. We need to talk to our fellow citizens who are in favor of things like this and provide them the full alternate viewpoints, not just condemn those citizens in a fit of emotion. Yes, it will take many, many conversations with each one. But it’s worth all those conversations to keep America prosperous and free.

I started that today – working to educate a friend from college. I saw hope on my Facebook page today when I posted a YouTube video of Milton Friedman talking about Greed, and a guy from college who was a UPS driver said how right he was and how horrible the stimulus bill is.
The key thing is that everyone in Washington is talking in platitudes. Dems are saying we’ll have a catastrophe if the bill doesn’t pass, but they don’t tell us how the bill will actually help in the next 6 months. The GOP says the bill is pork, but other than Coburn, who itemized the bill on his website, not enough members are pulling items from the bill, such as greening government buildings, funding STD studies and the other crap will actually create jobs. The public won’t pick up on platitudes – you have to give them something they can grab onto.
I feel the same, can’t stand to watch him on t.v. or hear his voice…reminds me of Bubba, every word out of his mouth is BS.

The McCain campaign, which one might think works for McCain, trashed Palin on the record and in anonymous leaks to the media. When McCain was offered a chance on TV to stick up for her and denounce the smear artists who worked for him he declined to do so. Mind you, he was vocal in slamming Republicans who tried to bring down Obama by highlighting Wright.
