Schumer: “The American people really don’t care” about pork; Obama: “The American people don’t need to be convinced;” Final passage vote: 61-37
The Senate is about to pass the Turbaconducken stimulus package. Sen. Schumer took to the floor about 20 minutes ago to fear-monger. He referred shamelessly to the “economic 9/11″ and wagged his bony finger at Republican dissenters.
“You lost,” Sen. Schumer sneered. Besides, he taunted, the “American people really don’t care” about all those “little tiny, yes, porky amendments” that the “chattering classes” have exposed:
Sixteen seconds packed with trademark liberal contempt, self-delusion, and oily arrogance.
Easy to claim the American people “don’t care” when your voicemail and e-mailboxes are clogged with messages that will never be heard or read before the next rush to judgment takes place.
***
Who cares? You care. Raise your voices.
***
President Obama is also turning up his nose at millions of Americans skeptical of this colossal rip-off.
Pressing for urgency, President Barack Obama ventured into another hard-hit, Republican-leaning area on Tuesday to prod Congress to stop debating an emergency economic deal and just get it done.
Coming off a prime-time news conference, Obama was holding his second town hall event in as many days. The tenor of his remarks was to be much the same as Monday’s in another economically staggering area, Elkhart, Ind., which is also a Republican stronghold.
En route to Florida, Obama said “The American people don’t need to be convinced” about the need for action.
There is no dissent in Obama’s America.
***
Anti-climax: 12:46pm Eastern. The final passage vote in the Senate on Turbaconducken: 61-37. The Turncoat Caucus – Specter, Snowe, and Collins – joined the Dems. Cornyn came back from his NYC trip to cast a no vote. Gregg abstained.
Now, it’s off to the House-Senate conference backrooms to stuff more pork back in.

I care.
I wouldn’t care if Chuck E Cheese Schumer dropped dead.
Fixed it for ya.
I care.
How could one even imagine that these people are looking after Americas and American interest. What will the do when their ratings go to the single digit? Throw them out of office!
This guy is pure scum. A true enemy of freedom.
There’s accidentally stupid and there’s intentionally stupid; and Chuck Schumer is intentionally stupid.
The arrogance of these people is unbelievable.
I do believe in karma, I do believe in karma, I do believe in karma, …
Its the “Pathological Presidency” with all its accomplices….liberal congress, liberal senate, liberal media, illiterate liberal sheeple, and a few RINO turncoats.
Coming off a prime-time
news conferencepropaganda speech, Obama was holding his second town halleventpuppet show in as many days.Fix it.
If I’m not supposed to care about how they spend my money, why do they care so much about me paying my taxes?
WisCon:
Which guy?
Oh, right – ALL OF THEM!
GEEEZ
Someone hand Charlie Crispy a baby wipe. He had an accident from that tingly feeling in his leg.
I knew he was a RINO, but that intro for Obambi at Ft. Meyers removed all doubt
So now I”m part of the “chattering class”. I’m good with that. Better than being part of the socialist class. Chuckie should check the polls.
If you play it backwards he says, “Let them eat cake!”
Bonus points for anyone that can photoshop Chuckie in a Marie Antoinette wig.
What an arrogant JERK.
They are getting bold now that they think they have “won”.
Tipping point coming…
I’ve called and written e-mails, falling on deaf ears. Our overlords have decided they know what is best for us.
Maybe so but I am seeing a groundswell of conservative energy on Twitter. Search Twitter #tcot or #conservative and see what I mean.
Keep hope alive!
Who the heck is a Congressman calling the chattering class? What an unbelievable dork. Is this the best you got NY?
The more people who suckle at this GIANT PORKER, the more difficult to curb the tide of SOCIALISM… For once you are BEHOLD’N to THEM they have your VOTE FOREVER… The REDS of the 60s were right… They said “we will bury you”… We are now in surrender mode, and not one shot has been fired… ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!!
this is the bipartisanship all democrats talk and rail about. when will the idiot rinos understand that they only talk to you when they need you to be on their side. mccain and his minnieme graham seem to have learned a bit about this, “the democrats favorite republicans and sunday morning talk show guests” only to find hit pieces by the new york times and those same show hosts. obviously sen specter, collins, and snowe are dumber than even mccain.
Meanwhile, since Geithner unveiled his TARP 11, the DOW is tanking. There must be a few who do care and they are showing just how much.
Congress appears to be deaf – would that they were also dumb. They are stupid though.
Not that they’ll listen, but, FWIW, I wrote to the two Donks representing Colorado in the Senate urging them to Kill the Bill.
How dare he? ‘Chattering class’??!
You, suh, have insulted me! Pistols at dawn!
d’oh
If that were any real indicator we’d be complaining about President Paul’s new foreign policy right now.
yea- 61
no-37
I care very much how my pork is spent.
c=span is taking a poll:
202-585-3885 yes
202-585-3886 no
Don’t just do something, stand there! Please, I beg of you! Would one of you asshats please just ask Sully what to do? I just know he could straighten out this crap sandwhich version 2.0115.
We are soooooo screwed.
What’s next Mr. Steele????
P-Obama is still stumping in Ft. Myers.
Because ….???
I care. Politicans don’t care. I suppose if I had millions and power, I wouldn’t care.
Back in the 60s, we had a saying that seems very appropriate here for Senator Schumer:
“Chuck You Farley!”
Screw you and the horse you rode in on. Thanks, Chuck. You really screwed the country now. You and your incompetent boobs in both houses of “Con-gas”. Geez Louise.
The second the ONE signs this, divest all your american funds into anything else, because it will be more stable.
That will be the sound of the economy being executed.
Most likely because he’s the Commerce Secretary nominee. A vote either way would come back to haunt him as part of the administration.
This isn’t surprising, politically speaking. Disappointing from a perspective of his unwillingness to voice his principles, but not surprising.
Besides, if he’s going to be part of President Obama’s administration, he should vote “Present” at least once to show he’s part of the club. Right? /sarc
As someone said so well yesterday, it’s devastating to see how far this Great Country has sunk…
What can be so difficult? Dems arguing against Dems to spend somebody else’s money.
How is that gonna happen? They are not even invited into the discussions.
Obama & Schumer keep saying they won. When will the Republicans fight back? They should blare from the highest mountain that they each won an election too and throw that in Obamas face.
They should also point out that GW Bush won an election and ask how often Obama voted with the winner Bush. Don’t let them get away with their labeling or it will be too late. Bush never learned his lesson and now Obama is painting Republicans with that broad brush. They must fight if not for themselves, then fight for me.
As I’m vomiting, I can’t help but think that President The One is very much like Prince Humperdink from “The Princess Bride”…think about it…it will grow on you…the snooty look, his petticoats…it’s a match.
Stunning, pathological arrogance. This was the guy in school who likely got his a$$ kicked because he couldn’t back up the dog-squeeze that emanated from his mouth. What a jerk.
“Oily arrogance”…could not have said it better.
Michelle is right, in confrence every single cent of the money will be put back in and more.
Then it will be an up or down vote.
In obamas hands by the end of the week.
Here’s something I never thought I’d say:
Chuck Schumer is 100% correct.
The American people don’t care. Sure there are some of us that pay attention to this, but the majority has completely lost any interest in politics now that American Idol is back on. Until things get so bad that checks stop getting sent and grocery store shelves are empty, they will continue to think everything is just fine.
Ignorance is bliss.
I really do think he will regret having said this – it is a campaign commercial written for his challenger.
It seems that among the losers in this is mutual respect. While it is easy to see how inflamatory rhetoric can happen in the blogs, it is actually quit amazing, at least to me, to see that vitriolic rhetoric become commonplace for various ‘leaders’.
Will we have statesmen again?
Errah. Perhaps a ride to the airport in the Olds.
Our last hope…. The “birth certificate truthers”
The stock market apparently cares. The DOW is down 300 points and the dive started as Geithner was speaking. This market is TRYING to go up but cannot swim upstream against the intensifying torrent of bad news coming out of DC.
The worst part of all this is that the GOP seems committed to losing again big in 2010. We should be hearing from NEW LEADERSHIP here but all we get are McCain, McConnell, Graham and the rest of the “gang” that surrendered to the libs when the GOP controlled everything.
And not a peep from Steele. God help us. That’s why I gave up being a Republican in 2006. And it has only gotten worse since.
I bet there are literaly hundreds of billions suddenly appearing in swiss bank accounts.
Gippergirl, keep the emesis bag handy. It’s bound to get worse. At least it was only three defections (defecations?) in the Senate and all of the House Repubs held fast. The Dems OWN this bill. Their names are on it for all of history. May they ultimately EAT their words…
I second Teddy’s idea.
Hey Ted!
Regarding Twitter
Hmmm, someone hasn’t been on the platform lately. Some call it the evolution of search. Real time conversation, links, support and community.
Many conservative voices are sounding off and stepping up there.
Nope. Won’t happen. Congress had a 10% approval rating before the election and still got more Dem seats. Besides the 5 billion going to ACORN will fascilitate more voter fraud and Dem ballots.
Yep.
I remember that one!
(vertical)
(horizontal).
Yep again.
Yep.
Like I’ve said before, these clowns are like the guys who, in high school, would go out of their way to be annoying.
Up-Chuck Schumer says “you lost”. Indeed we did.
But who put these socialist scumbags in power???
Republicans like John McCain and George Bush, and every other RINO who sold his conservative soul for power; for legacy.
A good friend sent me this quote from a bit of history the other day. I submit it to MM’s blog family:
Scary, huh? This whole load of crap started generations ago…
I am trying to organize a Porkulus Protest for the Seattle area. Is anyone near there and interested? If I don’t do something I am going to fall over with severe depression. Sigh.
If you are interested, try to leave a comment on my blog so I can get more info to you when I know more.

Errah OMSB, Hey to you too! Hope all is well!
So Specter STILL votes for it after finding out he didn’t know diddly squat what was in it? I shall never, NEVER forgive the Bush administration for backing Specter over Toomey! NEVER!
Somebody let me know when the Revolution is on. I’ll show up packing, ready to storm the Capitol and surround these boobs. Can you imagine the looks on their faces if thousands of armed citizens overwhelmed the Capitol police and then surrounded them in the chamber? Oh, how glorious it will be. Just the mental image makes me giggle.
Unless the notification is over Twitter. I refuse to be associated with anything called “Twitter.”
The Three Stooges, Spector, Collins, Snow…is that correct?
Yah…the Maine pipe just burst in the Republican bathroom.
I believe this will be the largest single spending bill in the history of the entire planet.
Heckofajob obamabots.
When energy costs have tripled, food costs have doubled, the unemployment rate is over 10%, interest rates are 11%, the elderly are dying due to rationed health care, the inflation rate is over 9%, the dollar is a third of the Euro, and we are taxed for everything from income to candy bars, we are going to get out this video of Chucky and play it over and over and over and over and over again.
We will see then if the “American people don’t care.”
The mills of the gods, grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine. Today was not our day; there WILL be other days. Still in the fight.
Kinda like Bill Clinton constantly telling us “the american people don’t want a tax cut”.
I really do think he will regret having said this – it is a campaign commercial written for his challenger.
Regretfully, I don’t think so. Too damn many are jumping EAGER to snack the teats and specious security of socialism. Pork or no, they simply don’t care. And once hooked, the “pendulum” is welded to the left because very seldom is socialism reversed. Check out the schools. Obama and “green is great” everywhere. The Dems and libs were biding their time and it has come. Socialist America.

Queens, NY
Chuckie was not very clear….I don’t really understand what the difference is between the “chattering class” and the “American people”. Unless by Chuckie’s reckoning, the “American People” are the “illiterate, liberal, sheeple” who fall in line with fecal stains like Chuckie who are all too common in the senate and congress these days.
Errah. FYI Schumer doesn’t have a driver; he prefers to drive himself to work. One can only hope the ambulance he undoubtedly follows each day to the Senate makes a sudden and abrupt stop and then a quick reverse.
HOLY SHIITE! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS NOT THE LEAD STORY ALL DAY LONG ON EVERY NEWS OUTLET EVERYWHERE.
Schumer is a traitor to the state of NY and a sell-out to the country. He only has a few years of useless life in him, though, so he obviously “doesn’t care” about the bill he’s leaving his great-great-grandkids.
Errah, It’s amazing he was able to loosen his sphincter necktie and survive in a non methane environment long enough to drop these jewels on us.
The three RINO’s who voted yes will join the democrats in the history books as traitors who helped destroy the United State of America. They should be so proud. Michael Steele MUST kick them out of the Republican party!
I have to add another adjective. Now I’m a Chattering bitter clinger.
The good news is that New York Senator Schumer is up for re-election in 2010.
Does anybody know who is running against him?
It is time to get to work on the 2010 campaigns!
Not likely. Those banks have applied for bailouts and so are being forced to disclose the secret bank accounts. That is happening in many of the traditional off-shore banking havens. Part of the one-world goverment organized around mega-corporations and cemented by the elite and exclusive Global Warming Priesthood.
Republican opposition to the stimulus is making them less popular, not more (latest poll figures show Americans valuing Democrats in Congress much more than Republicans over this issue). Schumer is right, Americans don’t want to hold up what they think is a very important bill over relatively small blemishes it might have.
On those “turncoat” Republicans Snowe and Collins, you have a choice: you can keep Maine in the Republican camp so it’s Senators can make the stimulus better (in your view), or you can kick them out so Maine will have Democratic Senators and the stimulus goes through unaltered. The choice is yours.
Errah. I propose they install a plank in the dome of the capitol so each one of these aszhats can walk it and splat on the floor of the Rotunda. It’s not over yet. I hear China doesn’t have this kind of cash laying around and definately won’t have enough for round two of several trillion for home and bank bailouts that Geitner is about to propose.
Is don’t think that’s actually possible.
Don’t feed the troll.
That door has been closed as of this year, any Swiss bank that has a branch in the US, now has to reveal information on the numbered bank accounts. Read it last year in a publication that evades my mind right now, so can’t link.
This is one of the reasons that ‘schumer’ has become the choice replacement for s__t on the boards, he is a piece of schumer, acts lie a schumer head and deserves to be thrown into a schumer pile.
Wait till the bill hits and we have to start paying for the blind meaningless spendathon about to start. The people will remember who is who.
LGM is on the wrong side of history on this one.
LGM will you finally tell us where we are going to get these trillions of dollars from???? I have been asking for weeks.
There is your loophole.
He can’t answer because saying “print more money” will further confirm what an idiot he is.
True, but it has made it very difficult for Swiss banks to do business here in the US.
The bill is a sham… it’s not very important. Certainly not important that it pass. It was important to stop it. And pass something that would actually stimulate the economy. Not something that has 80% of it spending happening more than a year into the future. and 60% more than two years out.
“You Lost”
Yes.. I have to agree with that. IF HE IS SPEAKING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
WE LOST.
I doubt it. It is probably people like me being fed up that the GOP is still showing no signs of leadership. We are frustrated with their ineptness and hypocrisy. We need new leaders and FAST.
I would interested in seeing that poll. could you provide a link?
***
Crying over the conservative losses doesn’t help much. Getting organized and trying to sock it to the THREE STOOGES in 2010 (or when their terms are up and they have to stand for reelection) will help.
***
President Obama (PBUH) and the democrats / liberals / marxists are in 24/7 campaign mode now. The conservatives should do the same.
***
Michael Steele and the GOP should start working in Maine and Pennsylvania to dethrone senators Snowe, Collins, and Spectre–like the democrats did to Joe Lieberman. No funds for RINO’s–start campaigning to replace them in the primaries. Put up some real conservative candidates and run them out.

The goal was not to make business easy.
So, 50+ million members of the “chattering class” don’t count. Wrong Chucky. You will pay for this. There will be justice.
This stinkulus Bill passes, Geithner kind of releases his TARP 2 plan without details and the Dow sinks, as of 2pmET 350 points. If this frakin stuff is so vital why has the markets rejected it? This is crazy.. and through all this the Black reporters are complaining, the welfare folks in Fort Myers are begging Prompterbama for houses, cars, jobs etc… someon call the wahhhhhhhhhbulance! This is not the America I knew…
Uhhh…yeah – and some say the humans have caused mars to get warmer too.
Sorry for the grammar inthe post before, I’m so angry my fingers are racing before my brain..kind of like the Prompterbama administration. I apologize.
Hey Schumer, how’s your Madoff campaign contributions doing?
You lost.
Chatter chatter.
Madoff Victim List
Madoff Campaign Contributions
For those of you that are not old enough, this is going to be just like when Jimmy Carter was president.
Look for 20% interest rates and 15-25% inflation after all these bills are funded.
Oh and your health care will be managed by uncle Sam
Maybe your brain dead, parasitic constituents don’t care Schumer but those of us still sporting a brain certainly care, and we represent half of the citizens of this nation. Preach to your sheep but don’t pretend they represent all of us.
So much for representation of the voters/taxpayers. No more checks and balances, Absolute Power.
They know it, the media knows it, many Americans know it, too few care.
Arrogant pricks.
Oh, I well remember the “misery index” Carter brought us.
