AG, RtisRt:
You don't seriously believe that lgm is *really* a math teacher, do you? ;-)

Its been caught out in errors concerning that field's basic knowledge that giving any of his utterances credence is become clownish.

I say that even allowing for the freefall in quality of public school teachers in the USA. Even if you were generous and allowed that lgm is running point on the deline, his [lack of] ability in his "chosen" field is so microscopic that no member of a hiring committee could stop laughing long enough to sign the employment contract.

Add up, (another area lgm's challenged in...) lgm's deficencies:
Statistics, arithmetic, logic, abstract thought, concrete thought, laying out proofs... well, I don't really have the time for so long a list.

Instead, fellow MM board readers, let me suggest something to help your blood pressures.

There are many news & forum reader applications on the market for linux and M$ Windows. Probably for Macs, too. Most I've tried let you "hide" posts by trolls using either a trolls' handle or a set of rules that are applied to the body of posts.

This software must have been designed w/lgm & friends in mind. I've put lgm as a handle, told my laptop's reader software to hide his posts, and **I never see them!** I do see when he's referred to, which prompted this comment.

Just something to help keep down the bloodpressure. I know reading the idoitic posts of the lgm's here was driving mine through the top of the meter. This became especially obvious after I started daily checks, (which I did b/c of Dad's stroke...).

I hope you find this post useful.

AG, "… oh never mind…" that is the correct attitude to have with lgm. After reading his postings for so long I give up, don't bother paying any attention any longer, he's beyond rational thinking, nothing but the Party line spills out of his mouth. The really scary part is, what does he tell his students.

Dexter Alarius (#27): We’re on the RIGHT side of the Laffer Curve. Kennedy proved it; Reagan proved it; and Bush II proved it.

to which lib-bot lgm then said: What did Reagan prove? He cut taxes and the deficit soared. It’s OK to run a deficit in lean years — that’s what Obama wants to do — but it’s bad to run deficits in fat years, which is what Reagan did.

Hey there libby troll! WHO said the Laffer curve had one damn thing to do with the deficit? HMMM?

Your typical lame liberal spin is getting very boring. Taxes were cut and FEDERAL REVENUE INCREASED.

Just because democrats SQUANDERED federal revenue faster than it increased after a tax cut does NOTHING to disprove Mr. Laffer. Reagan was given nothing but CRAP by the democrat Congress who repeatedly added UNnecessary line item PORK to essential spending bills. It came down to Reagan being forced to also accept the CRAP that the liberals wanted in order to get what the country needed. (Hence the 'line item veto' that Reagan promised and was passed after he left office only to be struck down by liberals in the Supreme Court who ~thought~ that helping to PREVENT excessive federal spending was unconstitutional.)

OK, what about the discredited idea that tax cuts and military spending don’t cause budget deficits?

Your a math guy, answer this, what happens when you spend more than you bring in?

If tax cuts bring in more revenue but you spend more than you bring in... oh never mind...

I just tried to get into Arlen Specter's website again, but it's down. I'll try (in vain) later. I did send another email to Democrat Bob Casey (also in vain - neither of these guys listens to us).

The present stimulus package is designed to avoid the mistakes the Japanese made in the 90’s.

And you know this because...?

He cut taxes and the deficit soared.

Also, the USSR soared into the distance, our military and national pride soared to new heights, and the United States soared with the greatest amount ever of peace-time wealth and prosperity - and all created by tax cuts, spending caps and limited government! A fair trade-off, I'd say.

It’s OK to run a deficit in lean years — that’s what Obama wants to do — but it’s bad to run deficits in fat years, which is what Reagan did.
There is NO WAY you could have lived in this country during the nightmare that was the Carter years and still post something that patently false and naive.

As a math instructor, yours should be the most vociferous protest on this site against this unconscionable spending bill - a bill that steals from the future labors of our kids and grand-kids to excuse the actions of the irresponsible among us today, namely the Democrats; it says a lot that you aren't.

OK, what about the <strike>discredited</strike> proven idea that tax cuts ... <strike>don’t cause budget deficits</strike> increase revenue?

We're on the RIGHT side of the Laffer Curve. Kennedy proved it; Reagan proved it; and Bush II proved it.

All depressions and recessions before the 1930s recovered without Government intervention within a short time (1-2 years).

Other Western nations recovered from the Great Depression quicker than America did.

Doing NOTHING is better than what Obummer, Peloser and Dingey Harry want.
