The Senate Finance Committee has just posted the very, very latest version of the Generational Theft Act.

You can read a summary here.

And here is half of the most recent porkulus language (does not include the Appropriations section).

We’ll all have pleeeeenty of time to read through it before Congress vote tomorrow, never mind that House promise to post it online for 48 hours before they ram it through.

The full conference report is finally available on the House Rules Cmte site here.

Whatever version we have is going to massively screw the American taxpayer. This bill is a joke, and everyone knows it. Legislators and citizen supporters are just putting on their happy faces for the cameras.

“American Opportunity” Education Tax Credit. The bill would provide financial assistance for individuals seeking a college education. For 2009 and 2010, the bill would provide taxpayers with a new “American Opportunity” tax credit of up to $2,500 of the cost of tuition and related expenses paid during the taxable year. Under this new tax credit, taxpayers will receive a tax credit based on one hundred percent (100%) of the first $2,000 of tuition and related expenses (including books) paid during the taxable year and twenty-five percent (25%) of the next $2,000 of tuition and related expenses paid during the taxable year. Forty percent (40%) of the credit would be refundable. This tax credit will be subject to a phase-out for taxpayers with adjusted gross income in excess of $80,000 ($160,000 for married couples filing jointly). This proposal is estimated to cost $13.907 billion over 10 years.

Looks like college tuition just went up $2500.

Remember that “giant sucking sound” that Ross Perot used to talk about?

It isn’t south of the border. It is in Washington D.C.

You know, the Capitol is white and porcelain looking. Why not get some “stimulus” money to make it look more natural: as a giant toilet.

*I’d rather be waterboarded than read anymore of this porkalooza bill; The GOP needs to keep their fingerprints off of this bill and any other TARP or otherwise bills in the pipeline; That and offering sound alternatives is their only pathway back to assist us in reclaiming our constitutional Republic.
*Again I mention if you want to really reinforce why you know you are right about rejecting government intervention in the free market, read “Meltdown” by Thomas Woods.

How is something this huge not being made available to representatives of parts of America without enough time to review fully? This IS taxation without representation. So much for transparency???

This is like when someone puts sales pressure on you for something that’s not time sensitive- smart people walk away from it (evidently they’re in the minority in the Capitol bldg).

Do you think that they want to vote on this monstrosity on Friday the 13th on purpose? Like a bad horror flick, their bad ideas keep coming back!

Some time ago I posted a joke about an old guy going into a bar frequented by young folks and asking a girl if she’d have relations with him for 1,000,000 dollars. She says yes. Then he asks how about for 20 bucks. And she slaps him in the face and exclaims, “What kind of girl do you think I am!?” And he says, “We’ve already established that. Now we are negotiating on price.”

I posted that joke to illustrate where we were on the stimulus bill is precisely the same place. We’d already established the “what” our leaders were, we were just negotiating on price.

Here we go: Specter’s price? A measly 6.5 billion.

Didn’t see any incentives for people that have been paying mortgage for over17 years and property taxes and income taxes and mandatory home owners insurance for 17 years. would be nice to get a reduces interest rate without huge refinance costs.

And a comment on the school stuff- all this is going to do is spend money on schools and the local property tax payer will be expected to foot the bill ( we are told OH the fed’l gov’t mandates this stuff and then they don’t give us enough money- so please we want to steal more of your money please “rich” land owner???)

from one of the land owners that stopped last property tax ( at least part of it)

The four section pdf files at the House Rules Committee site are still all in mark up form.

Stuff crossed out and notes in the margin and some pages even watermarked as confidential.

It is NOT in final legislative form as I write this , but a full proper copy should be up later today…I hope.
