Looks like an attempt at “extortion by lawsuit” by a race-based grievance ho in California. Miley Cyrus has said she meant no offense by a gesture that some have construed as insensitive to Asians — but one woman isn’t buying……

It’s not an insult. It’s just a difference. Why complain that someone noticed it? What’s next: The Irish are going to start complaining that people noticed that they typically have blond or red hair? The Chinese will complain that someone noticed that they all have black hair? Africans will complain that someone mentioned that their skin is darker than that of others?

Sheesh. Get over yourselves, races. We all have differences, and that’s fodder for humor. Quit trying to make humor illegal.

I am. Arguing “poor judgement” by her is a joke, and is a symptom of our over-PC society. She didn’t beat anyone up, or call someone the “n” word, or get caught on video blowing guys in the bathroom…she made a face. Oh, the horror!!!!

I would be inclined to agree about the severity; however, there is still something to be said about the fact that she is still a very popular figure for young girls. It is a slight bit more than some random teenager making a face.

However, I don’t like political correctness, either. The reason I called it “poor judgment” was because it could have consequences (albeit likely minor) to her career (e.g. endorsements, PR, etc). To the average teenager, who would care? However, she earns a very large living on her image. Doing this, joke or not, did a bit of damage to her image. That’s poor judgment for someone in her place.

I’m certainly not horrified by it. I think the whole thing is rather dumb, but I also wouldn’t blame any sponsor that might choose not to use her in their advertising.

That reminds of a nitwit trial lawyer as a guest on a talk radio program defending huge jury awards. His reasoning was that there are so many lawyers for so few ‘deep pocket’ trials that, when you manage to get retained for one, you HAVE TO go for a huge award because you might not get another case for a long time! Lawyers have got to eat ya know!

Too bad it was radio, I wished I could’ve seen his face when he said that.
