I notice a lot of people are saying that Obama is a joke (“Obamateur” is the latest I’ve heard), falling flat on his face, one pratfall after another. Nevertheless, for a race clown he has his party behind him, his nation killing legislation is only slightly behind schedule, and his popularity while down remains strong. So whose laughing all the way to the insolvent bank? Not us. If nations get the government they deserve, we must have been and still are one rotten worthless bunch of sinners.

As far as Porkulus goes, I’m sure if I were able to sit down and read the bill in its current form I would have to do the same thing I did at the theater – peek through my fingers and hope nothing scary jumps out at me.

true, but when Obama is president, you will not see this issue exploited as katrina was by the democrats…er I mean mainstream drive-by media…same thing…

So it sounds like your real issue is that you are still bitter about how Bush was portrayed by the media, rather than any real argument that Obama and FEMA were incompetent here.

Well, that would have been my point had I weighed in earlier on this discussion. I knew that the National Guard was working hard, but without digging, I had seen almost nothing about FEMA’s involvement and the approval of the state of emergency. Frankly, I would have expected some more coverage. Seeing almost no coverage outside the area makes me think that the press/MSM had a particular bias in reporting both Katrina and the recent disasters.

Most of the problems with the Katrina mess were because of bad local and state actions. Also, the laws have been changed since then to allow the feds to start moving before the governor specifically requests assistance. During Hurricane Katrina, FEMA had to wait until asked.) You would think that a more honest press would report on the success of the new laws, at least.

While Michelle can well speak for herself, I think that many will agree with me that we don’t care whom you love and with whom you live (okay, it has to be a consenting adult)–just don’t call it marriage because of a whole host of issues that has (have? is “host” singular or plural in this context?) been beaten to death in various threads.

As a bachelor with no special someone, I am opposed to Valentine’s Day anywhere near me completely. I’m glad for the genuine economic stimulus, though, as I am a capitalist at heart. (But I am always happier when the 15th comes around.)

Anyway, if you look at all 5 pages (chirps) of the official WH statements, there is only the reference to the plane crash. Nada for Kentucky & Oklahoma.

The other point was that having Janet represent the WH is like sending a Consular to a Head of State funeral.

That is incredibly annoying when that happens, especially when you know there is nothing offensive in the post (I assume that to be the case). I have learned, the hard way, to copy all my posts (at least ones of any length) before hitting “submit”.
