“I was early convinced that socialism was an excellent way of life, but I thought it might be reached by various methods …Today I have reached a firm conclusion: Capitalism can not reform itself; it is doomed to self-destruction. No universal selfishness can bring social good to all. In the end communism will triumph. I want to help bring that day.”

    W. E. B. Du Bois requesting membership in the Communist Party USA, 1961.

Join the Party of change, struggle and commitment to freedom and equality, the CPUSA

Our country is facing its greatest crisis since the 1930s. At the same time, the moment is filled with great hope and possibility. The crisis was caused by capitalism and Wall Street greed. The solution to it is being born in today’s unprecedented mass movement for change.

Capitalism breeds racism, unemployment and war, but it also creates the possibility for solving these problems, but not without struggle involving millions of working-class people. The Communist Party understands this and has a program that calls for fundamentally transforming our society and using its great wealth to meet human needs.

Today we believe that all people – Black, Latino, Native American, Asian and white – must unite and fight for an economic recovery that puts peoples needs before corporate greed. This recovery must be one that places affirmative action and good paying union jobs at its center.

Today, the CPUSA is involved at the grass roots in the fight to bail out Main Street, not Wall Street. We are also involved in the fight to end the war in Iraq, and in the movement for national health care, ending immigrant bashing, police violence and anti-LGBT hatred.

    • If you want to work for an end to racial and class injustice: JOIN THE PARTY!

    • If you are tired of our government’s imperialist policies of war and aggression and want peace: JOIN US!

    • If you are for an end to poverty, unemployment, homelessness and hunger: JOIN!

We are confident that a new society whose values go beyond capitalist profit and greed is possible. Join the party and help make Bill of Rights Socialism a reality.

I heard one Dem (forget who it was) who went on the floor after the vote to explain his “no” vote. For him, there just was not nearly enough for schools and social programs. But, it was the tax cuts that really tweaked his nose.

If they give the conservatives middle America (which they no doubt would be happy to do!), we could do very well, thank you. The farm/dairy belt of the midwest can survive without all the loonies on the coasts. And if we want citrus, we can import, or grow our own in greenhouses. Our veterans with severe mental hardships are left to fend for themselves on the streets, sleeping in boxes because the VA can’t afford to help them. I wonder what Collins, Snowe, and Specter were promised for their votes? What a breath of fresh air it would be if the senate just once had a vote in which the outcome wasn’t known in advance. If that ever happened, then we would know that it wasn’t the result of corruption (=equals dividing up the pie). I never thought that I would ever start loathing my government….but now I do.

I don’t know what the Wonder Maine Twins got, but Specter got $6 billion in cancer research.

As for having a vote where the results aren’t known, that would violate the first rule of politics – never call something for a vote that you don’t know what the final fate of the bill will be.

Ummmm, don’t worry… down here in Dakota county, there are many like me who are well armed , and, if I may say, quite cerebral to boot. That, dear lady, is a dangerous combination but well used. Oh, and most of us have jungle, urban warfare experience not just training. Piss off a Vietnam vet, liberals, at your own peril.

Don’t feel bad I am having the same problem too! I have made Mrs. Boomer a little unhappy with my liberal use of flight line language today.

The one constructive thing I did today to cover for my “Tasmanian Devil” personality flaw was to pick up the last piece of my Valentines gift for my bride at the local gun store. Nothing says I love you like a box of .357 ammo (last box they had), and shooting accessories (bought a middle of the back holster, 3 speed loaders and a double pouch) for her Ruger SP-101. I know I know I’m an incurable romantic.

I’m glad Walt Minnick had the good sense to vote against this thing. I’m sure Queen Pelosi understood he would be the guest of honor at a necktie party when he returns to his home district. I also want to give him credit for having a better plan the spending bill as seen over on Hot Air. Thanks to Allahpundit and the good Captain for putting the word out.

    southcoast,

What President Ronald Reagan called the “Evil Empire” is not just about the Soviet Union/Russia. It’s about Socialism/Communism in general, in any country where it operates.

The “Evil Empire” (the Democratic Socialist Communists) are indeed in control of our government. And while they completely own the Democratic party, they also have a significant presence in the Republican Party.

Maybe you don’t have eyes to see that McCain is with them, not us, but he still has to maintain his “cover”. If it had come down to John McCain being the necessary vote to put this over, he would have shown himself (once again) as part of the “dark side”.

Sorry if you don’t see it. I do.

Please explain to me why John McCain had a trip to Europe planned in the middle of primary season, a trip he had to delay when Huckabee didn’t quit as McCain had expected…

I’m sure their earmarks are conveniently set to be implemented way down the road so that when they each come up for re-election, the people will be mad that they haven’t seen any “stimulus” yet and the Dems can claim that the turncoats haven’t done anything for their people. Then once a Dem gets in their seat, voila, all funds will be magically released and the Dems will be the heroes.
