From the Boston Tea Party to your neighborhood pork protest

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 16, 2009 04:38 PM

In Schmucky Schumer’s world, these American taxpayers don’t exist. A big crowd of them gathered in Seattle this afternoon to raise their voices in opposition to the trillion-dollar, pork-filled Generational Theft Act of 2009 — which will be signed into law by the blind President “There are no earmarks” Obama. Thanks to Zac Petersen for the photos. It took just one person — blogger Liberty Belle — to get the ball rolling. She writes: “Make no mistake, the President will be signing that bill tomorrow, I have no illusions that he will actually listen to us. BUT, maybe, just maybe we can start a movement that will snowball across the nation and get people out of their homes, meeting each other and working together to redirect this country towards its truly radical founding principles of individual liberty and freedom. Maybe people will wake up slowly at first, and then quickly when they realize the urgency needed.”

A few more pics from Seattle blogger Snark Patrol here.

And more from American Typo, including this one:

Update: KIRO TV covered the event. Watch for the unhinged lib who tries to disrupt the peaceful protest with a Nazi salute.

***

The movement continues in Denver tomorrow. Colorado Americans for Prosperity is organizing a protest countering President Obama’s visit to the city to sign the porkulus legislation at an exclusive, invitation-only event at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science in City Park. Protesters will gather at the west steps of the Capitol (Lincoln Street, between 14th and Colfax) from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mountain time.

I am making good on my promise to deliver a roasted pig to the event.

Join us!

***More info at Obama: You Don’t Know Stimulus.***

I’ve heard from readers in Nashville and NYC who are trying to organize events of their own. What are you doing? From the Boston Tea Party…to the Denver Pig Roast. Show Schmucky and the generational thieves you care, you count, and you’re ready to move from melting the phones to pounding the pavement for fiscal responsibility.

The Porkulus Bill is just the beginning! We are going to need to be able to organize rallies like this on short notice for issues coming up on the horizon like: Fairness Doctrine, Gun Rights, ILLEGAL Immigration and Socialized Medicine.

Our rallies will become more and more effective with time. The liberals have been protesting for decades. We need to learn how to be just as vocal and visible!!!

If we don’t learn how to do it now, it will soon be too late!

Since we can’t count on the media covering our events (yet!), we must:

    1) Bring digital cameras and video cameras to each event to get pictures to send to the media and to post on the web (including YouTube).

    2) Have many people call the media both before and after the event to ask them to cover the event and then to ask them why they didn’t.

    3) It would be good to have a fact-based 1 page hand-out at each event to help educate people who pass by and to give to the media.

    4) Spread the word as far in advance as possible and bring all of your friends and family. Large crowds are more likely to be covered.

    5) Develop relationships with local media, so you have credibility when you call to tell them about an event.

Anything we can do to make it easy for the media to cover the event, will increase the chance of getting coverage.

At some rallies I have attended, it has also been helpful to hand out a sheet of the words to the patriotic songs, so that everybody can sing along with gusto! You would be surprised at how many people don’t know the words to our patriotic songs.

More to the point, where was the outcry days ago, weeks ago, when this whole issue came about? With exception to the very few items that fall under the enumerated powers, this entire bill is/was unconstitutional. Why wasn’t this discussed? “Conservatives” chose to argue the merits of the bill, or lack thereof, in terms of economics, health care, energy, etc., all areas chosen by Democrats, rather than going to our founding document, the very thing that makes us a Constitutional Republic, to argue the case against this bill. In the end, “conservatives” have done nothing more here than make a little noise which will only draw more attention to the fact that the U.S. Constitution means nothing to them either.
These protests are too little, too late, grounded on poorly made arguments. In other words: ineffective.

Send_Me, where would you like to be sent?

Iraq, Afghanistan, any place where I can bring terror upon those who use terror against us, but, if you’re paying, I’ve always wanted to go to New Zealand. The pictures I’ve seen are amazing.

You’ve made three posts deriding Conservatives in particular.

I most certainly have. I’d write more, but you probably get my point. I notice that no one has proven wrong what I’ve said. Sometimes the truth hurts.

If you have a problem with us deciding to take a stand now, that’s really just your problem.

You can wear plaids and stripes to work tomorrow for all I care. Your “taking a stand” in the fashion you mention will be just about as effective as that, since the timing and content of the arguments used by most against “porkulus” are all wrong. Here’s a wake-up call to folks here: neither the President nor Congress care what you think. The reason? You make up an insignificant portion of the voting block. It’s assumed that you will vote Republican or not at all, no matter the candidates. You aren’t a threat to the Democrats or the Republicans. Democrats don’t think about you because they know you won’t vote for them. Republicans don’t worry about you because they know you won’t vote Democrat and won’t “waste your vote” on a third-party candidate. How do I know this? Two words: John McCain. Most here hated the man, but figured he was the “lesser of two evils” and voted for him anyway (or stayed home). “Conservatives” didn’t have the guts to vote for a “conservative” candidate, so the status quo continues.

What exactly have you done about the Porkulus situation..?

Written letters, emails, and made phone calls to my elected representatives in order to make them aware to the unconstitutional nature of this legislation. I also wrote and called many of my friends and relatives to explain the same things to them and encourage them to write and call as well.
On a side note, I’ve also taken the time to read the Constitution, to learn about cultural Marxism, the art of war, and the current state of affairs of this country. I also based my vote on principle and voted for a third-party candidate in November.

We need to reclaim Constitutional government in general, and this is an encouraging first step!

But we have to get people upset not just about corruption and waste, but about the Federal government overstepping its bounds as though it were an unlimited national government. We need people on the streets seething about the existence of the Department of Health and Human Services.

This is an excellent start, but remember: the point of limited government was in part to limit the damage it could do to private citizens. It isn’t a problem with the specifics of the current system, the people and culture, it’s a problem with the entire system!

Until we can recognize our government by holding the Constitution up as a mirror, it is an illegal fraud.

The same theme as MM’s but has an “official” ring to it.

I’m waiting for a barbecue chain to offer up a Pork Sandwich named in honor of this pig in a blanket of a program.
Maybe it can be dedicated to Schumer, Pelosi, and Reid.

It could be named something like the “Schumer Swine Sandwich” or the “Pelosi Pig Sandwich” or the “Harry Pig Sandwich”.

Oh, you guys should calm down – at least Ann Coulter still suppors all of you:

“Coulter spends the better part of three pages defending a group called the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), which The New York Times had described as a “thinly veiled white supremacist organization.” Coulter begs to differ. The CCC, Coulter opines, is “a conservative group” that has unfairly been branded as racist “because some of the directors of the CCC had, decades earlier, been leaders of a segregationist group.” “There is no evidence on its Web page that the modern incarnation of the CCC supports segregation,”
