Speaking of Ed Begley, Jr., he and Bill Nye are next door neighbors and were featured recently in a local PBS segment about alternative energy. They compete with each other for the title of “most green house” and it boiled down to Ed Begley winning because he makes more money and has more to spend. Neither claim that it pays to be green. In fact, Nye was moaning about how expensive his solar panels are ($30,000 just to cover his garage).

So Obi’s point was dead on. Neither is a hypocrite. They are green at any cost and don’t claim that it is cheaper than buying electricity off the grid or using standard cars.

This is exactly why I respect Begley Jr./Nye. They say they what to live a "green" life and they do it. No huge mansions and carbon credits. They also don't (or I haven't heard) them say that we must be forced by government to buy small cars, CFL's etc. They seem to look at both the pros and cons of all options and pick the best ones.

Leno had someone on last night and they were originally a corn-based ethanol nut. They realized it's consequences (i.e. food to fuel)and realized it wouldn't work. They are now looking at other more viable options.

Enviromentalists and socialists. They want rules for everyone else because, in their figuring, they will be exempt by being buddies with the government elite. I am really worried over this new healthcare system, working in the medical field myself. Most of my patients are kids, some bedbound and needing total care. Do we "pull the plug" on them because of poor prognosis, just to save government money? I suppose so. We have people who throw out new babies, and that's okay now. New drugs won't be coming out very much, because of the heavy restrictions, cost, and lawyer feeding frenzies. Well, we could end up like the Soviets, and hold guns to their heads. I remember under Clinton's plan, I would no longer have a choice in my field; they would choose, depending on what they needed, not my training. People are going to be shocked when they have to have medical care under the "hope and change" government. By then, it will be too late. What would you say when your father or mother has a stroke, only to be told that many drugs they could have had, will be denied because of "cost effectiveness"? As their chances for recovery slip away, you can watch your parent breathing oxygen through a cannula, in some medicare nursing home, as the staff debates whether that is worthwhile too, under the new guidelines. But the enviromentalists and the socialists know they will be exempt. Like Brits needing an operation, they will jet to India. I, personally, won't be part of it. I can't tell a family that we can't do treatments for their kid, or their parent, because it isn't "cost effective", anymore. I'll retire.

"It was calculated if you shoved every landfill in the planet in one place it’d cover the area half the size of Vermont with several meters of (even non-recycled) trash. That’s –zit– compared to the total area of the Earth" Penn and Teller did a show about this. They interveiwed a Rep. From the NYC Dept of Sanitation about recydling. And she said the same thing you heard back in the 70's. Only this was arounfd 2004 when they aired this show. So it pretty much hasn't changed. It's all about controlling the masses nothing more.

The rules don't apply to the Liberal Elite. They preach green, but they don't practice what they preach. They say taxes are too low, yet they don't pay their taxes. They claim that everyone should be equal, then they act like some are more equal than others. When it comes to the Liberal Elite, hypocrisy is not only forgiven, it is expected. But watch how loud they scream when they catch anyone else being a hypocrite.

The Liberal Elite are the "Looters" talked about in Atlas Shrugged. The Looters consist of men and women who use force to obtain value from those who produce it. They seek to destroy the producers despite the fact that they are dependent upon them. For the worst of them, the green movement is just a means to that end - to destroy the producers. That's why they want to shutdown coal-fired plants and stop oil drilling and anything else that is a means to production.

When they finally realize they are committing suicide, they will allow just enought mining and drilling to maintain their own life styles, but the rest of the world will starve. Even the worst predictions for Global Warming will be a picnic compared to what Liberals would do to the world. Anyone who listens to them is a fool.

Nothing new here. Our oh so politically correct Hollywood types and their Malibue manses, Bel Air acreage, private jets, SUV's etc. Algore's huge place in Tennesse, his boy busted doing 100+ in damn Prius (who knew they would go 100 mph?).

Did you know that about 15 years ago, the Sierra Club, yes THE SIERRA CLUB, got busted for having an OPEN DAMN SEWER draining into a creek approximately 200 feet from one of their larger properties used by senior people in the organization? True story. Property was in a remote area of California and had no operational septic system. Just an underground pipe that discharged into a small stream.

Same old, same old. "Do as I say you should, not as I do and be quiet about what I do!"

They compete with each other for the title of "most green house" and it boiled down to Ed Begley winning because he makes more money and has more to spend. Neither claim that it pays to be green. In fact, Nye was moaning about how expensive his solar panels are ($30,000 just to cover his garage).

So Obi's point was dead on. Neither is a hypocrite. They are green at any cost and don't claim that it is cheaper than buying electricity off the grid or using standard cars.

When you look at these turkeys, ya gotta respect a guy like Ed Begley, Jr.. He doesn't go around telling other people how to live. He just lives his own life in a small house recycling pretty much everything. He lives the example he wants to set.
