My restaurant recommendation for the Obamas

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 16, 2009 05:15 PM

Doesn’t President Obama listen to himself? We are living in catastrophic economic times. We must all engage in shared sacrifice. We can’t afford to do business as usual.

Yet, he cranks up the White House thermostat and splurges on Oprah’s chef’s upscale restaurant in Chicago for Valentine’s Day.

Next time, make it Sonic — America’s Drive-In.

Lucky for you, Mr. President, a new one just opened up in Chicago.

It’s cheap. It’s fast. It’s delicious. And the cherry limeades are to die for:

I do very much miss Sonic. I dont think there is a Sonic in all of Seattle.
Nope. Closest I know of is all the way down in Vancouver.

Having lived in several western states, and sampled at Whataburger, Sonic and In-N-Out, I have to say they seem to tie for Numero Uno. What? I was just sampling!

Whataburger has huge, sloppy, drippy burgers that are pretty tasty and priced right! Sonic has Tots and roller skates! ‘Nuf said. In-N-Out’s 2X2 (or “Double-Double” when ordering) and fresh sliced fries are just the ticket for whenever I get to feeling just a bit too healthy. Perfect amount of salt on the fries and those beef patties!

What the h^&l is arugala anyway?

It’s a shame. It makes no sense to me why they haven’t moved into this market; they’d make a killing.

Anyone want to open a franchise on the Eastside? Somewhere on Bel-Red Road maybe?

I’m also in Texas..most of the car hops do expect a tip. Thankfully, most Sonics now have a credit card machine right on the menu so no tip necessary! :) We have a Sonic on almost every corner..I had no idea there were places around the country without them.

I think my husband and I actually celebrated Valentine’s day once..our first year of marriage. Now 11 years later we went out and ate lunch at a mexican food restaurant for under $20. :)

maables (#102) Rookie!!! 34 years and I actually cooked for my bride this year. You never know when the next chance will come to be nice…or to put arsenic in her food….(oops, I didn’t say that! LOL)

I did get her a 52″ LCD TV and a blue ray disc player. I wanted to get her a gift card for 100 gallons of 100LL avgas, but since she is not a pilot…Maybe next year I will get her a new DGPS with a good database of airfields…..

Jeddite, I live halfway between the Tri-Cities and Yakima and lots of us east siders believe that those who live in Seattle that the border between Washington and Idaho is just east of Issaquah. Hopefully you know that Yakima is not in Idaho and its only a 2.5 hour drive. You sounded kind of condescending about Eastern Washington in your comment.
