Just those “chattering classes” at it again, eh, Schmucky?
President Obama and Sen. Chuck Schumer will undoubtedly find a way to dismiss the latest public sentiment about the trillion-dollar Generational Theft Act.
Just those “chattering classes” spouting off again:
Thirty-eight percent (38%) of voters nationwide believe the $787-billion stimulus plan passed by Congress will help the economy. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 29% believe the plan will hurt and 24% believe it will have little impact.
Middle-income Americans are more likely to believe the bill will hurt rather than help. Those with incomes below $40,000 or above $100,000 are more optimistic.
By a 49% to 24% margin, government employees believe the stimulus plan will help the economy. Private sector workers are evenly divided. Investors are less optimistic than non-investors.
Fifty percent (50%) of voters believe the bill consists primarily of new government spending while 31% believe it is primarily a mix of new spending and tax cuts. Only eight percent (8%) think the legislation consists primarily of tax cuts.
Mountain of pork rinds for your thoughts, Schmucky.

Congress doesn’t care. The president is clueless. Once this fails, the current resident of the white house will be blamed. Its going to get ugly.
Who also believe in fairyland and leprechauns.
Just wanted to get MSNBC’s analysis done for them early.
Warn me before you do that. I have to take a serious amount of drugs to get into that mindset!!!
What we are seeing now is a precursor to the events foretold above. The stage is being set.
Congress cares about buying votes and paying off the special interests that own the democrat party.
I don’t think the president is clueless. I think he knows exactly what he is doing. Tutored by communists and making a career of destroying the productive for the benefit of the leeches. No, he knows what he is doing.
It’s the American people that were clueless when they voted for him. Voting on emotion instead of reason will lead to the end of this nation.
So, if my math is right, 53% of Americans believe that this plan will either hurt or have little impact? Only 38% think it will help? (I am assuming the other 9% have no opinion).
Why wasn’t it reported that way instead? Oh wait….I know! It might show that OVER HALF THE COUNTRY THINKS THIS PORK PROJECT ISN’T GOING TO DO WHAT WE NEED!?!?!
I truly, truly, am afraid for the future of this country. I honestly don’t know what can be done to save her.
I’ll take the fairyland and leprechauns over the Thirty-eight percent (38%) of voters nationwide who believe the stimulus plan will help. Those Investors less optimistic are also becoming less investors-they have to a large extant bailed out.
Now that Obaminites are talking of converting 401′s to Social Security Bonds the market will get weaker. I look for Congress to put on show hearings to determine “who crashed the market for their own gain” as Bill O’Reilly is spouting. I am also guessing there will be floaters on rolling all pensions into Social Security. Why should people who worked live better than lay-abouts and illegal aliens?
Another way to look at the mountain of pork, 38% think they will get some.
The last election proved you can attract a lot of voters by promising them freebies, without telling them that it’s only $13 a week.

Hey, be careful what you say about leprechauns!
(But I’m also one of those who thinks the “Stimulus Bill” is going to fail–although we’ll be told by the sycophantic media how wonderfully well it is doing–and will be a burden for generations.)
I wonder what the results will be if the poll is taken again in a couple of weeks after details of the final version come out.
Schumer is right; most Americans couldn’t care less what’s in the bill. Most Americans are apathetic to politics and government. Sending pork rinds to Dem congressmen is a waste of time. Send them to Collins, Snowe, and Specter instead.
The peons and serfs are grumbling. No matter. Let them know who is in charge by giving them a small entitlement or empty promise and they’ll be quiet.
49% of government employees thing the stimulus will HELP? Of course, they’ve been feeding off the taxpayer for YEARS, and this is just more of the same. Besides, most government employees are Democrats and clueless, otherwise they’d get a real job.
I am waiting in vain for the real confidence measures to get our economy going. Namely, wholesale reform of banking and Wall Street to eliminate once and for all the selling and speculation practices that got us into this mess in the first place. Giveaways are no substitute for curtailing the offering and sale of “derivatives”, tightening margin requirements and putting the screws to hedge funds. Likewise, stopping the mergers and acquisitions that created entities “too big to fail” that in fact failed.
Well yeah, it will help THEM!!!
Well, judging from the markets tanking today, the “stimulus” plan doesn’t exactly exude confidence now, does it?
Thomas Jefferson covers much about our situation today in two quotes made by him over 200 years ago. Our founders feared what we are living today:
“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”
“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
A recent letter to the editor in our paper had it nailed.
If unemployment goes down at all, Obama gets credit for creating jobs.
If unemployment remains the same Obama gets credit for saving jobs.
If unemployment rises, Obama gets to say that it would have been worse without the porkulus and gets credit for stemming the tide of depression.

PBO made it clear throughout his campaign that his desire is to remake America. And, that means he must first destroy the way it is now.
It’s just like in Vegas when they built a new resort, first they had to implode the old one.
Yep, he knows exactly what he is doing.

That is not fair. There is a good percentage of federal government employees who work hard in Constitutional areas, and provide real service for their salaries.
Alas, there are also too many who are only there for a permanent paycheck who don’t want to do anything for it once they pass their probationary period. It is most likely only these people probably think that increasing the size of federal involvement is a good thing.
Don’t condemn all federal employees because of the duds.
Trying to recall just how long Schumer’s been Senator for the state of New York….. I think since 1999. Having grown up in this state and remembering when jobs and industry actually CAME to this state and the economy was robust, it’s not difficult to compare it to today …. population is actually decreasing, industry and jobs have moved elsewhere, taxes are astronomical, life-long residents are forced to leave their homes and the state because they can no longer pay property taxes.
If Chuck has all the answers for the national economy, why is his own state an economic disaster? Gov. Paterson (result of another political criminal) is now talking about taxing computer downloads, internet purchases, and everything else that he can think of to prevent bankruptcy. I’m waiting for a meter to be put on our home to measure the airflow in and out. Water (I’m thinking Obama and his like might consider that a ‘life necessity’) is 3 times more expensive than most states and New York has so many lakes you just wonder ‘what the hell???’
Taxes, taxes, taxes – - the answer to everything….ask Schumer, he should know.
NYS started taxing internet purchases years ago.
There should be constant din on porkulus.
The 1996 welfare reform removal should be at the top of the list.
Conservatives support the right to buy their porn with privacy, and without the taxes they would pay at a brick and mortar store. Who knew?
kevin k; when you locate a government worker who actually performs in his job, send that guy to me, and i’ll hire him, free him from the beaurocracy and pay him way more than he makes now. but, he will give up his paid holidays, his 20 year and out pension, his 8 to 4 mentality, and his “that isn’t my job” attitude, or he won’t last a week.
The mere fact that someone polled people to ask them “what do you think is in this stimulus package” is evidence that NO ONE has read it.
I can see the pollster: “So, there’s this multibillion-turned-trillion dollar bill in D.C. right now. Pres. Obama will sign it. What do you think is in it?”
A. Primarily new spending
B. New spending + tax cuts
C. Primarily tax cuts
D. Chocolate and caramel with a nougaty center
E. Where’s my free gas?
This is what happens when we let government grow unchecked. They have to find everything they can to tax just to make up the shortfall.
How long until people have to buy and display a “sidewalk” pass in New York City?
Exactly! He knows and is deliberately and consciously pushing and shoving the US down that path.
From my experience about 20% of the governments employees are doing about 80% of the work. The civil service laws need to be rewritten to be able to get rid of the dead wood.
It is much easier to transfer the problem employees than fire them. So they are transferred somewhere and do mostly nothing while collecting a paycheck and earning (stealing) a pension.
PBO knows exactly what his is doing. Read Saul Alinsky and the goals of the Communist Party and you will see the road map and we are now travelling down the road using their directions.
I can almost imagine Marie Antoinette referring to the working-class of her day as the “chattering class”.
Well, I say, LET SCHMUCKY EAT PORK RINDS!
Proving once again that what people believe does not make it true.
Even what a majority believe.
Truth is not determined by belief.
Well yeah, I bet the ones making under $40,000 are optimistic, they’re getting all the freebies.
I’m not sure why anyone making over $100,000 would be optimistic about the stimulus. I would guess they feel they make enough to handle the sting or they’re just more likely to be optimistic about things in general and that attitude is reflected in their earning power.
