What’s missing from the White House porkulus propaganda album

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 17, 2009 09:56 AM

The White House has published an official photo album documenting its fantasy-land version of the porkulus journey. From the photo album, it looks like it was all smooth sailing and easy back-slapping for President Obama.

Missing: Photos of the dissenting House Democrats and unanimous House Republicans who opposed the behemoth bill.

Missing: The Reid/Pelosi backroom brawls and power plays.

Missing: Obama’s “no earmarks” lie and the Democrats’ broken promises on transparency.

Included? Why, yes, it’s Henrietta Hughes:

Missing? The rest of the story via WINK News:

A woman making national headlines after a tearful moment with President Obama has a new home.

Thursday morning, Chene Thompson handed Henrietta Hughes the keys to her home in Hendry County. Thompson is the wife of State Representative Nick Thompson (R-District 73). Hughes and her son will live at the home rent free.

At President Obama’s town hall meeting in Fort Myers on Tuesday, Henrietta Hughes stood up and told the President she has been homeless since 2003 and can’t find a job.

She also says she’s reach a dead end with government assistance and none of the local charity agencies will help.

However, a local organization is coming forward saying Hughes isn’t being honest about how much help she’s had in the past.

The director of We Care Outreach Ministry, Tanya Johnson, says just last month she offered Henrietta Hughes permanent housing and a place to stay free for three months, but Hughes refused.

“We would have allowed her to stay for the first 90 days, no income. You know free,” said Tanya Johnson.

We Care Outreach Ministry is a faith based organization in Fort Myers.

Johnson says she also gave Henrietta and her son Corey, money, food and offered Corey job training courses, but it was refused…Hughes says Tanya Johnson wanted $400 a month immediately.

The disability check Hughes gets is a little more than $800 a month.

Hughes owes money on a loan, has her car insurance payment, a monthly storage bill and says she couldn’t afford the rent.

“Where was I going to get $400 a month to give her if I got these expenses,” Hughes told WINK News.

WINK News Reporter Nick Spinetto went back to talk to Tanya Johnson.

She stands by her story.

More here and here.

Gregg Ditches Commerce Post, RNC Offers Specter

(2009-02-13) — With the announcement that Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH) has pulled out of his bid to become President Barack Obama’s Secretary of Commerce the Republican National Committee (RNC) today offered Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) as a replacement.

“Sen. Specter is a career lawyer and politician, but he’s a fast learner and could be quickly trained to run the Commerce Department,” said RNC Chairman Michael Steele. “Of course, Republicans would miss his stalwart, reliable voting in the Senate. Conservatives never have to wonder how Arlen Specter will vote.”

White House insiders suggested Sen. Specter could get the same deal from Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, former chair of the Democrat National Committee, that Sen. Gregg made with his state’s Democrat governor — to appoint a Republican replacement once he’s confirmed as Commerce Secretary.

However, Mr. Steele said such a concession would be unnecessary, since replacing Sen. Specter with a Democrat would be an “ideology-neutral” move.

A White House spokesman said Mr. Obama bears no hard feelings toward Judd Gregg, praising his abortive nominee as “a man who paid his taxes on time.”

The administration claims it’s still on-target to fulfill its number one goal for the first 100 days, which is to fill all cabinet posts.

“The president is all about creating and retaining jobs,” said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. “However, at this pace there is some concern that getting an additional four million people hired may take more than one term of office.”

RNC Chairman Steele said he’s committed to helping the new president fill those jobs, and has also offered Maine Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, whom he recommended as “team players, depending on which team you’re talking about.”

Fantasy is right! It’s like all the spending bill’s critics have been saying: if this bill was so urgently needed and has the support of a majority of Americans, then why the lengthy delay in signing it?

Likewise, why did both Obama and Pelosi head out of town before the Senate signed off on it – were they that ashamed and desperate to get away from it?

This whole album thing is pure spin – a poor attempt to cover for the fact that Democrats would rather rob future generations of Americans of their prosperity, by enacting into law this terror of a spending bill, than admit their policies are wrong and offer up what will work: tax cuts and tax breaks.

First question: No, she doesn’t, unless it’s considered compensation for her serving as a caretaker for the otherwise unoccupied house. She may be in for a pleasant surprise if the owner presents her with a Form 1099-MISC next year for the fair rental value in 2009. But the owner should iron that out before she allows Henrietta to occupy the house.

All that aside, because Henrietta sounds like a lazy freeloader, I doubt she’ll be lifting finger to maintain the residence. I bet this owner lives to regret this arrangement.

My experience is that people such as Henrietta don’t appreciate things when they get them free. After all, they’re owed that much.

Actually, my money is on this woman and her obviously too old to be living with his mother and not having a career, let alone job of a son to act exactly like the unappreciative woman in New Orleans who complained about her free housing and everything she was getting from the tax payers while the whole time sitting in a well furnished home complete with the 50+ inch HDTV.

I am willing to bet that at some point, this wo,an will be interviewed and she will complain that they are not getting cable, that the rooms are too small, that it is inconveniently located from the bingo hall or some other unbelievably spoiled, unappreciative rhetoric.

People who do not earn things by their own hard work and struggle are never happy, can never be satiated, and are NEVER grateful. They only expect more and more.

SOrry if I am cynical, but I have seen and experienced it over and over again. As it is, it was reported over the weekend that this woman had already been offered free rent on a house, job placement etc. in the recent past and she turned it down because it was not good enough, in her eyes. Meanwhile, those of us who struggle daily to make sure there is a roof over the heads of our children and that they don’t go to bed hungry etc. get screwed. Sorry, but charity begins at home, and I would be willing to bet a paycheck that this woman and her son would not look twice at someone in need.

Bingo! Unfortunately all the feel good do gooders haven’t figured that out yet. But they call us mean spirited because we know it is highway robbery to take from the taxpayer and support the tax consumer and not receive any benefit or progress for the money wasted. The person being “helped’ (supported) is not going to have their standard of living improved.

Yep – that there photo album stuff is important work.
Of course, when you are establishing a department of (mis)information, it’s very important to have in-house album creation skills.

It’s all propaganda. Nothing more than that. When you elect “style” over “substance”, you then have to constantly make sure that people are convinced they picked the right guy.

As there is no substance to this empty suit, his actions will never speak for themselves, thus they need to constantly propagate to the people.

That is why his face will constantly be in the Press. That is why anytime they speak about him, it will be like a “Mutual Admiration Society” meeting, where they constantly stroke him and themselves.

They know what they are doing to this country, and thus they need to be constantly vigilant in the pursuit of convincing the sheeple that what they are doing is beneficial as people watch with their own eyes, the country they live in collapse and change into the very thing that we fought against for well over 60 years.

They are being fed a plate of feces and being convinced it is filet mignon. This is just the beginning folks. Watch as it grows in a way that will have Goebbels turning over in whatever shallow grave he ended up in.

I guess you said that to be funny? I just didn’t think it was.

I have nothing but respect for the man. I think he was the best choice to lead the party. But every time I see him on tv, that’s what I think.

I getting more confused by the minute. He reminds JohnDeaux of an oreo cookie (which is racist, by the way) and your statement makes no sense to me either. I must be missing something. Maybe I just need a rest from the site for a while. Later…

He’s not the perfect conservative, but he has a clean past and given the other options, I think he was a good choice. I hope he decides to be a little more confrontational with the administration given that the “change” taking place is not in line with Republican policy.

I never called him an oreo. Where did you get that? I said he reminds me of Humpty Hump. I suspect it’s his nose and mustache that does it. I have never made any racist statement against him or anyone else. Geez Louise.

hap, I’ve given up on the Republican Party. In my book they are nothing but Democrat wanna-be’s. Republicans are unprincipled, logrolling, power mongering traitors to the Constitution and to the People. At best, they are cowards who calculate public opinion before acting. They’re always concerned about their political longevity rather than the good of the country. I’ll start to believe in them again when they defend the Constitution, but hey, I’ll probably win the lottery first.

Jet – I’ve given up on political parties, period. It’s all about power, getting rich from your contacts, and living a lifestyle you never imagined possible or wildest dreams. Pretty heddy stuff and totally corrupting. A pox on all their houses. Unfortunately for the country, they got us before we got them this time.

Sorry if I misjudged your comment. However, Humpty Hump is an oreo cookie! I just jumped to the conclusion that if Michael Steele reminds you of Humpty Hump, you were calling him an oreo cookie. Why wouldn’t I have thought that? It is logical, isn’t it?

I’ve never really had a good appreciation of the phrase “running dog lackey” until I saw Reid ushering Specter, Clooins and Snowe to the stand beside him in announcing the passage of the Crapulus package. And Snowe (or is that Collins?) looks so good as Obama’s Lap Dog.
